Chapter 1080: Fighting The Mercenaries

Chapter 1080: Chapter 1080: Fighting The Mercenaries

"Well, well, well... The other two girls over there are not half bad either." Another mercenary chimed in with a disgusting laugh, his dirty eyes lingering on Xie Lanying and Xie Qingge. "Not only do we get a free hot meal, but we also get to play with some pretty noble ladies. What a bargain!"

Facing such vulgar, disgusting looks, young Xie Qingge felt a wave of genuine fear wash over her. She immediately trembled and shrank back, hiding behind her twin brother, Xie Fengge. Xie Fengge’s face instantly darkened, his brow furrowing in deep rage as he gripped his sword hilt until his knuckles turned white.

Bai Xifeng slowly put her cup down, her dark eyes flashing with a cold, dangerous light as she casually evaluated the men. She instantly analysed the mercenaries’ spiritual strength. Their overall cultivation levels were vastly inferior to hers. They were mere insects to her current power. She could effortlessly wipe the floor with all five of them in a single breath.

However, she had no intention of doing that. Her friends had spent months training inside the academy, but they severely lacked real-life, life-or-death combat experience against ruthless opponents. It would be far better for their growth if they used these five scum for live combat practice. In terms of raw spiritual cultivation, her friends were roughly on par with these mercenaries, and since her group held the numerical advantage, it was a prime opportunity.

"Xifeng, what should we do about them?" Xie Lanying whispered tightly, her eyes ablaze with indignation.

"You guys can easily defeat them." Bai Xifeng said calmly, offering a small, reassuring smile.

"Really? Are you sure?" Ning Shoukai asked, double-checking.

"Hmm... don’t worry." Bai Xifeng reassured them with a wink. "If any of you start getting beaten up, I will step in and save you immediately."

"Since Xifeng says so, I am not going to hold back a single bit!" Xie Yanlin declared with a fierce smirk.

"Me neither. I have been itching for a real fight." Xie Zixin added, drawing his blade.

In a split second, the entire group drew their weapons, stepping forward in a unified line to face the five scumbags. When the mercenaries saw the teenagers taking up combat stances, they broke into boisterous, mocking laughter.

"Look at these green brats thinking so highly of themselves!" The mercenary leader shouted, drawing his heavy broadsword with a harsh metallic ring. "Men, let me show these little spoiled nobles what real mercenaries are made of!"

With a loud, chaotic war cry, the five mercenaries charged forward, weapons raised, intending to brutally crush the teenagers.

Bai Xifeng smoothly took a few steps back into the safety of the campfire area, letting her friends take the frontlines. Even though she wasn’t actively participating in the clash, her sharp, focused eyes closely monitored every single movement on the battlefield. Her spiritual senses were fully deployed. If anyone showed the slightest sign of falling into true danger, she was prepared to blitz forward and end it instantly.

"Die, brat!" The first mercenary swung a heavy battleaxe straight down toward Ning Shoukai’s head.

Instead of panicking, Ning Shoukai remembered his mobility drills. He lightly pivoted on his heel, dodging the clumsy blow with effortless grace. The heavy axe slammed uselessly into the dirt.

"Too slow, old man!" Ning Shoukai taunted, channelling his spiritual energy directly into his spear.

With a swift thrust, the butt of his spear smashed violently into the mercenary’s chin, sending the man flying backwards with a sickening crack, several teeth flying out of his bloody mouth.

Meanwhile, the mercenary leader targeted Xie Fengge, swinging his massive broadsword in a ruthless horizontal arc.

"Get out of the way, boy!" The mercenary leader shouted.

"In your dreams!" Xie Fengge shouted, his eyes brimming with anger over the insults directed at his twin sister.

He parried the heavy blow with his longsword.

Clang!

Sparks flew wildly into the air. Though the leader possessed brute physical strength, Xie Fengge’s refined technique and pure spiritual qi far outmatched the mercenary’s raw power. With a sharp flick of his wrist, Xie Fengge diverted the broadsword’s momentum and unleashed a rapid flurry of sword strikes, instantly tearing open several bloody gashes across the leader’s chest and arms.

"Argh! You little monster!" The leader cursed in pain, stumbling back in horror as he realised his opponent was vastly superior in skill.

On the other flank, two mercenaries foolishly tried to pounce on Xie Lanying and Xie Qingge together, assuming the girls were the weakest links.

"Gotcha, little ladies!" One sneered, reaching out a dirty hand toward Xie Lanying.

"Don’t touch me with your filthy hands, scum!" Xie Lanying barked, her eyes cold as ice.

She whipped her sword out with frightening speed. Infusing them with dense wind attribute spiritual energy, her body blurred like a gust of wind. Before the mercenary could even register her movement, Xie Lanying was already behind him.

She ruthlessly struck the mercenary’s pressure points with the flat of her sword, followed by a brutal kick straight into his kneecap. A horrific sound of snapping bone echoed through the glade as the man screamed in agony, collapsing onto the grass like a sack of bricks.

The second mercenary targeting the girls froze in sheer terror, but Xie Qingge, having shaken off her initial fear thanks to her friends’ fierce support, channelled her water attribute energy into a heavy palm strike. A surge of dense, pressurised water crashed directly into the mercenary’s chest, throwing him back ten feet and smashing him cleanly into a tree trunk, knocking him unconscious instantly.

The fifth and final mercenary, seeing four of his comrades battered, broken, and crying on the ground in under two minutes, completely lost his nerve.
