Chapter 538: Death Spar?

Senior martial brother Hu Yi had an oily high forehead, making it shiny and his eyes were big with egg bags under them.

He stroked his long black beard while he raised an eyebrow at Lin Xuan Qi, Lao Er and Ling Er.

"I didn’t expect to see the three of you left." Hu Yi said and shot a side eye to the disciples that were beside him.

The disciples came over and whispered something to him.

He nodded his head, stroked his beard while he listened and gave out a smile at Lin Xuan Qi, Lao Er and Ling Er.

"Can we go now?" Lao Er asked, wanting to get out from the secret realm as soon as possible.

It was the same for Ling Er, so she nodded vigorously at Lao Er’s query.

Lin Xuan Qi on the other hand, was wary of this Hu Yi.

He could sense that Hu Yi was at the peak of Foundation Establishment Level.

And from the behavior of the Qing Feng Sect disciples so far, getting out might not be as easy as he had originally thought.

Hu Yi took out a wooden tablet that was the size of his palm and said, "This is the key to get out of the secret realm, but I am someone who is very interested in challenging myself against the others.

"And seeing how you survived through all the demonic beasts and cultivators, you’ve made me very interested.

"We shall have a sparring match before we leave."

Lin Xuan Qi frowned at what he had heard. Hu Yi demanded a ’sparring match’ and it wasn’t even an ask.

He grew suspicious that Hu Yi was out to kill everyone left here, and it must have happened before in the other region of the secret realm before they collapsed.

Hu Yi was the one doing the last harvest.

Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t too keen to battle it out with Hu Yi but he had no other options.

He needed the wooden tablet to open up the exit.

Hu Yi kept the wooden tablet, glanced at Lin Xuan Qi and said, "I think it’s time we begin."

His sword that he carried on his back flew out of its scabbard and Hu Yi held onto the handle.

He thought that he had the advantage with the element of surprise, but it wasn’t so.

Lin Xuan Qi hurled a bunch of talismans in the air and a bunch of talismans onto the ground near him before he could unleash his first move.

The talismans in the air gave out an amber glow and a burst of flames appeared out of nowhere.

"Senior martial brother!" The other Qing Feng Sect disciples saw how deadly the Fire Talismans were earlier and they got worried for Hu Yi.

But Hu Yi gave out a roar and a blue glow engulfed him.

The blue glow stopped the flames from reaching him but it held for only a few moments.

When the Five-Element Qi from the flames began to work its way through the Spirit Qi of the blue glow, the blue glow began to shimmer and dissipated soon after.

"Impossible?!" It was the first time Hu Yi had fought with the Five-Element Qi and it shocked him.

His protection artifact had always been able to hold off most attacks from someone that was below or on the same level as he was.

And sometimes it could even hold off a weaker attack from someone who was at Core Formation Level.

He wasn’t sure if Lin Xuan Qi was at Core Formation Level or if he had an artifact that enhanced his attacks.

Either way, he didn’t have time to figure it out.

The flames were encroaching on him and he had to do something quick.

Hu Yi tried to leap away but the talismans that Lin Xuan Qi had strewn onto the ground gave out a green glow and vines started growing out from the ground.

These vines shot at Hu Yi’s legs and ankles, wrapping themselves around his legs and ankles.

Hu Yi tried to pull his leg out from the entanglement of the vines but these vines were much stronger than he had thought.

Slice.

He swung his sword at the vines and slicing waves shot out from its blade at the vines.

The vines were successfully sliced off by the slicing waves and Hu Yi tried to leap away once again.

But Lin Xuan Qi had lunged at him with his hammers, swinging his hammers at Hu Yi’s head.

Hu Yi felt the gust of wind that came at him, he tilted his body and quickly dodged to the side.

Whoosh.

The hammers from Lin Xuan Qi missed but he didn’t stop and swung back the other way, aiming for Hu Yi’s waist this time.

Hu Yi quickly turned his sword downwards, pushing out against the hammers with his hands holding onto the handle and blade of his sword.

Dang!

The hammers and sword gave out a loud metallic reverberating ring when they clashed together.

Lin Xuan Qi tried to make use of the momentum and take another swing of his hammers at Hu Yi again.

But Hu Yi had turned and pointed his sword at him.

He pulled back his arm and thrust it forward, unleashing a Qing Feng Twirling Wind Strike at Lin Xuan Qi.

Lin Xuan Qi leaped to the side and the twirling wind that shot at him missed by inches.

"Argh!" Hu Yi’s shoulder and left arm were finally caught by the flames that were still raging and he gave out a cry in pain.

"What the hell is this?!" He shouted with anger as the flames could miraculously burn through his Spirit Qi that he summoned to protect himself from it.

Hu Yi cursed and he swung his sword at the remaining vines that were wrapping themselves to his ankles and legs.

The vines snapped when they got hit by the slicing waves unleashed by Hu Yi.

Dang!

Lin Xuan Qi had made use of this opportunity while he was dealing with the vines to come in and swung his left hammer at Hu Yi’s head.

Hu Yi was stunned for a moment and Lin Xuan Qi followed up with a swing of his right hammer onto Hu Yi’s head again.
