The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 321: Dying to Stick to Renee Jennings

Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Dying to Stick to Renee Jennings

The rain had passed, and a black sedan was driving down the wet asphalt road.

Renee Jennings had just left the police station.

Edith Zane’s situation had been resolved. Melanie Ford’s family had paid her compensation and apologized publicly.

Renee Jennings had originally planned to pick up Edith Zane and help her find a temporary place to live.

But Edith Zane told her that a kind netizen had already contacted her the previous night.

The netizen ran an art studio and had asked Edith if she liked to paint. She offered Edith a job at her studio, where she could also learn to paint.

Renee had the netizen meet them at the police station to pick Edith up. She wanted to get a better sense of the situation and make sure the person wasn’t a scammer before she could rest easy.

She got the address of the netizen’s art studio, planning to ask Michelle Fuller to go check it out with her in a couple of days.

Renee was just thinking about Michelle Fuller when her phone rang.

She put on her Bluetooth headset and smiled. "Babe, you miss me?"

"Babe, it’s not just me who misses you," Michelle answered.

Hearing this, Renee raised an eyebrow, her clear voice tinged with curiosity. "Then who else misses me? Ginny?"

"Nope." Michelle didn’t beat around the bush. "It’s Green Hat."

Green Hat?

Renee had almost forgotten which animal that was.

Mr. Fuller’s pet Green Iguana.

"How do you know he misses me?" Renee asked.

Michelle: "A hunch."

Renee sighed. "Are you at Mr. Fuller’s house right now?"

"Yep," Michelle said. "I came over with Hank today to see Grandpa."

Renee laughed. "All right, I get it. I’m on my way."

"Waiting for you~" Michelle put her phone in her pocket and stared at the frantic Green Hat in the terrarium.

Green Hat was repeatedly slapping the glass with his claws, his mouth open, babbling incomprehensibly.

"Oh, what’s the matter with him?" Mr. Fuller looked at the unusually agitated Green Iguana, his face etched with worry. "Is he sick? He was perfectly fine a moment ago."

Sean Fuller stroked his chin and remarked, "He certainly doesn’t seem normal. Could he be having a psychotic break?"

"It’s not a psychotic break, it’s lovesickness," Michelle said confidently. "He definitely misses Renee."

Mr. Fuller frowned, thoroughly confused. "Michelle, how could you possibly know that?"

"It’s a guess," Michelle explained. "Grandpa, you said Green Hat was fine a moment ago. That means he only started acting this way after Hank and I got here."

"Then what does that have to do with Renee?" Sean Fuller asked curiously.

Michelle: "Last time Grandpa had that accident, I brought Renee here to ask Green Hat some questions. He had a really nice chat with her. This time, Hank and I showed up, but he didn’t see Renee—the one person he can talk to—so he’s panicking."

Sean Fuller looked skeptical. "I don’t believe it."

Mr. Fuller’s brow furrowed even more. "Green Hat? Is that the name you all gave him?"

"Nope." Michelle shook her head and explained, "Grandpa, it’s the name he chose for himself."

Mr. Fuller looked utterly speechless.

’This Green Iguana’s taste is really... just awful.’

Renee arrived at Mr. Fuller’s house shortly after. Just as she reached the door to the study, she heard Green Hat’s frantic voice.

"I want to see Renee!"

"Argh, why didn’t Renee come?"

"I haven’t chatted with a human in so long!"

"SOB... Day I-don’t-know-how-many of missing Renee..."

A smile touched Renee’s lips and lit up her eyes. She stepped into the study and walked briskly toward the terrarium. "Green Hat, long time no see."

At the sound of the familiar voice, Green Hat’s two dark-green eyes instantly lit up.

He gazed at Renee in delight, cheering, "You’re here! You’re here! You finally came to see me!"

Green Hat pressed himself against the glass of the terrarium, looking as if he wished he could plaster himself right onto Renee.

"Sorry for taking so long to come see you." Renee mimed petting his head through the glass.

Green Hat sounded deeply wounded. "Did you forget about me? You promised you’d come chat with me, and I waited and waited, but you never came!"

Renee felt a pang of guilt. She pressed her lips together and explained, "I didn’t forget. I’ve just been really busy."

Michelle nudged Sean Fuller with her elbow, raising her eyebrows smugly. "See? Your sister’s analysis was spot on. How dare you not believe me!"

Sean Fuller rubbed his nose. "My apologies, Your Highness. I underestimated you."

Mr. Fuller was stunned as well. "I can’t believe it. As soon as Renee got here, Green... Green Hat really did go back to normal."

"My sister was right," Sean Fuller said. "This guy really is lovesick."

"So, tell me, what have you been so busy with that you couldn’t come see me for so long?" Green Hat was intensely curious about what Renee did and about the world outside.

Renee felt that chatting through the glass was too impersonal, so she suggested, "Green Hat, would you like to come out for a little while?"

"Can I?" Green Hat’s two eyes instantly sparkled.

Renee smiled. "Yes, but not for too long. Only for about fifteen or twenty minutes."

"Yay, yay!" Green Hat was so excited his voice went up into a squeaky pitch.

Hearing that Renee was going to let Green Hat out, Mr. Fuller grew concerned. "I’m afraid he might accidentally hurt one of you..."

"He won’t, Grandpa." Michelle cut in before Renee could speak. "With Renee here, you don’t have to worry. She’s a woman who can tame tigers!"

Mr. Fuller wasn’t one for the internet and had no idea what she was talking about. He just assumed his granddaughter was teasing him. "Oh, you. Stop pulling your grandpa’s leg!"

"I’m not kidding!" Michelle immediately tapped her phone a few times and showed the old man a video of Renee looking majestic while riding a tiger. "Grandpa, this is Renee and a tiger from the zoo. Impressive, huh?"

She looked so proud, you’d think she was the one on the tiger’s back.

Renee found it funny, but more than that, she found it adorable.

Mr. Fuller took one look and was instantly dumbfounded. "Renee, you have this skill? And I’m only just now finding out!"

"It’s not too late to find out," Michelle said, putting her phone away and linking her arm through the old man’s. "So, can Renee let Green Hat out now?"

Mr. Fuller nodded eagerly. "Of course!"

He had let the Green Iguana out when it was small, but he hadn’t dared to since it had grown up.

In front of Renee, Green Hat was on his best behavior, like an elementary school student in front of their teacher.

Green Hat’s tail was very long. Sean Fuller couldn’t resist reaching out to touch it, only to quickly snatch his hand back.

"Scaredy-cat," Michelle immediately jeered.

Sean Fuller’s cheeks flushed. He deliberately put on a stern face. "I’m not a scaredy-cat. I just thought it would be prickly."

"Prickly?" Michelle reached out and stroked Green Hat’s tail, her expression nonchalant. "It’s not prickly at all."

’He didn’t expect his sister to be so bold now.’

Renee studied Green Hat and laughed. "You know, Green Hat kind of looks like Godzilla."

"My friend said she wants to come over and play with Green Hat, too. Is that okay?" Sean Fuller suddenly blurted out.

"What friend?" Michelle asked. "A girlfriend?"
