The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 330: Something Feels Off

Chapter 330: Chapter 330: Something Feels Off

After leaving work, Danielle Archer found a gas pipe repairman to go home with her.

After inspecting the kitchen, the repairman said with a serious expression, "Have you had this gas pipe for a long time? It’s damaged."

"Damaged?" Danielle Archer’s heart clenched.

"That’s right." The repairman nodded and added, "The connection is also a bit loose. That’s very dangerous."

"What could happen?" Danielle Archer asked.

The repairman said, "Explosions, fires, poisoning—any of those are possible."

"Please, take care of it for me." Danielle Archer tried to remain calm, but in reality, her heart had already plummeted.

"Sure." The repairman agreed, picking up his toolbox and getting right to work.

Danielle Archer went back to the living room and sat on the sofa. She stared at the family portrait on the wall behind the TV, her brow furrowed and her expression turning incredibly grim.

Meanwhile, Renee Jennings bought some treats for the two little birds and watched them fly off.

She and Rhea Dempsey found a nearby shop for afternoon tea, then went to the market to buy groceries around five before heading home.

After dinner, Renee Jennings and her family went out for a short walk.

They got home a little after eight o’clock. Renee Jennings took a shower, then went to the study to start her stream.

[You’re finally online! I thought you’d uninstalled the app!]

[Do you have any idea how long it’s been since you last streamed?]

The moment Renee Jennings started her stream, the screen filled with familiar comments.

A small smile touched her lips. "I’ve been taking a little break."

[Are you all rested up?]

[Next time, just take one or two days off. We won’t allow you to go so long without streaming.]

Renee Jennings herself wasn’t sure when it had happened, but livestreaming had become a habit.

’Come to think of it,’ she mused, ’my last two streams haven’t triggered any hidden tasks, and the system hasn’t issued any new ones. Money’s only been going out of my bank account, not in.’

But with over twelve million still in her account, Renee Jennings wasn’t too anxious.

She chatted with her audience for a little while before getting down to business, quickly connecting with the first viewer: PorkCongee.

The stream’s screen split in two, revealing a pretty girl with curly hair and flawless makeup.

"PorkCongee, good evening," Renee Jennings said with a smile.

PorkCongee waved happily. "Renee, hi! I can’t believe I’m the first lucky person tonight!"

"Are you outside?" Renee Jennings asked, noticing her background.

"Yeah! We’re camping and having a barbecue." PorkCongee nodded, then cupped a hand to her mouth and whispered, "Actually, I’m on a blind date."

"A blind date?" Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in her voice. "Someone as pretty as you needs to go on blind dates?"

"That’s what a lot of people say." PorkCongee sounded a little helpless. "But honestly, no one ever asks me out..."

"Ah, I see," Renee Jennings said with a smile. "It’s probably because you’re so pretty that guys are too intimidated to ask you out."

[Exactly, they know they’re not good enough for you.]

[I have a friend like that. She’s so pretty that most guys assume she has a boyfriend, but she’s actually been single her whole life.]

PorkCongee said excitedly, "Yes, that’s exactly my situation!"

"If you’re on a blind date right now, how do you have time to watch a stream?" Renee Jennings asked, a little curious. "Are you wearing earbuds?"

"I am." PorkCongee tucked her hair behind her ear, revealing a white Bluetooth earbud.

Renee Jennings nodded, then finished her question. "So, does that mean you’re not happy with your date?"

[LMAO, the streamer’s tone is so calm, but her words are ruthless]

[Good question]

[Renee is such a curious cat]

Hearing this, PorkCongee frowned in thought. "I’m not sure how to put it."

She glanced around, then said to a woman nearby, "Hey, let me walk the dog for you."

"Okay, thank you. I appreciate it."

"No trouble at all." PorkCongee took the leash and walked a little ways away. "On paper, he sounds pretty good."

Before Renee Jennings could even speak, the chat was already flooded with curious comments.

[What’s he like?]

[Is he handsome?]

[Is he rich enough??]

PorkCongee tried to read the chat while walking the dog, but struggling to keep up, she eventually just stopped.

"My friend’s older sister introduced us. Apparently, he moved abroad in middle school and only just came back."

"His family owns a restaurant company that’s preparing to go public, and I heard he came back to take over the family business."

"As for his looks, he’s probably a seven out of ten. The downsides are his hair is thinning a bit, and he’s not tall enough—only five-foot-seven."

PorkCongee answered each point very seriously.

[Sounds pretty good!]

[Are you serious? You call five-foot-seven ’not tall enough’? Does a guy have to be six-foot-seven to be tall enough for you?]

[He’s that rich and he’s five-foot-seven, that’s already great, okay??]

[Girl, with standards that high, no wonder you’re single.]

[Don’t think you can get away with anything just because you’re pretty.]

"But I’m five-foot-eight," PorkCongee explained with a frown. "Five-foot-seven is shorter than me!"

Renee Jennings could tell at a glance that the men in the chat were the ones getting worked up. She said calmly, "Everyone has their own preferences for a partner. Let’s keep the comments friendly."

"Exactly," PorkCongee said with a helpless look. "I just want to find a guy who’s taller than me."

"But there’s one thing I find really strange. I don’t know if there’s anyone in the chat who lived abroad starting in middle school, but could you help me figure something out?"

[Yeah, I moved abroad in seventh grade. What’s up?]

PorkCongee crouched down. "Before we met, I chatted with this guy on WeChat. When he types, he always puts... a lot of spaces between words. He doesn’t get any popular internet memes, and he just seems bad with his phone in general. I was just wondering, are all people who’ve lived abroad like that?"

[Girl, are you sure he went ’abroad’?]

[I’m not like that at all. I’m a pro on my phone. Did this guy move to some undeveloped country or something?]

[With a family that rich, they would’ve definitely sent him to a major country.]

PorkCongee frowned. "I thought it was weird, too. And when we met a minute ago, he was really surprised and said we have the same model of phone... I don’t know. It’s just... weird."

[That is weird. Who’s surprised about having the same phone model as someone else these days? It’s not like it was ten or twenty years ago.]

[How was he ’abroad’? It’s like he was completely cut off from the rest of the world.]

[I feel like something’s not right, but I can’t put my finger on it!]

Renee Jennings also thought it was strange, until she heard another voice come from PorkCongee’s end.

"Heh heh... You think it’s weird? Well, you’re right!"

"PorkCongee," Renee Jennings said softly, "you’re walking a dog, right?"

PorkCongee nodded. "Yeah."

"What kind of dog is it?"

"It’s a... a Husky-Corgi mix." PorkCongee flipped her camera around to show the dog in front of her.

[BWAHAHA, that dog looks hilarious.]

[A Husky-Corgi mix is actually pretty ugly.]
