The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 352: Teaching a 9-Year-Old Child to Lie

Chapter 352: Chapter 352: Teaching a 9-Year-Old Child to Lie

"Fallon, what are you talking about?" the sister-in-law said, displeased. "You don’t have a shred of evidence. What makes you say it has anything to do with Momo?"

The mother-in-law also spoke up. "Autumn, don’t you go framing Momo."

"Autumn, we all said we wouldn’t pursue this," the father-in-law said, his tone laced with displeasure. "There’s no need to make such a big deal out of it. The one who gets hurt is your daughter."

Her husband also whispered, "Autumn, why don’t we just drop it? Disconnect from the stream."

Fallon listened to their words, but her resolve didn’t waver in the slightest. "No. I am going to clear Joy’s name today!"

The sister-in-law sneered, "Fallon, since you insist on doing this, don’t blame us if Joy ends up being humiliated."

Fallon looked at her daughter. She had her head bowed, not making a sound, like a lifeless doll.

A wave of bitterness washed over her, strengthening her resolve to get justice for her daughter.

[Something feels really weird about your family’s attitude...]

[What on earth happened?]

[Clear her name of what?]

Renee Jennings got the distinct impression that it was very difficult for Fallon to exist in this family.

She said softly, "Fallon, what exactly happened? Please, tell me."

"Streamer," Fallon said, looking at the girl in the split-screen, her eyes filled with hope and urgency. "My Joy was born prematurely and has developmental delays. Although she’s eight, doctors have assessed her cognitive abilities to be that of a six-year-old."

[So many preemies have developmental delays these days. If you notice it, you have to intervene and get them help as soon as possible!]

[A two-year gap isn’t too bad. My eldest was held back by developmental delays.]

Fallon continued, "Momo is nine this year, one year older than Joy. He’s always bullying Joy, but kids roughhousing is normal, so I never say anything about it."

"Fallon, watch what you say! Momo does not bully Joy," the sister-in-law said, annoyed. "Don’t you dare slander my son!"

"We’ll find out soon enough if it’s slander or not." Fallon’s expression, by contrast, had become much calmer. "Streamer, my father-in-law and mother-in-law said the spare change they keep at home often goes missing. Momo claimed that Joy stole the money. I don’t believe it. I know Joy isn’t that kind of person."

[Don’t you have security cameras at home?]

[Besides Momo, did anyone else see it?]

[Didn’t she say Joy has the mental capacity of a 6-year-old? What would a 6-year-old even do with stolen money? My kid is 7 and he won’t even take money when people offer it to him.]

[Could it be that Momo stole it and framed Joy...?]

In her heart, Fallon thought the same thing. Momo was already in the third grade, and his classmates all bought snacks from the little shop outside the school. Momo was no exception.

But his mother never gave him any pocket money, so where did he get the cash to buy snacks at the shop?

But Fallon didn’t say any of this out loud. She wasn’t so tactless as to deliberately antagonize them. She only suggested that her father-in-law and mother-in-law might have misremembered.

But the in-laws were adamant, insisting they hadn’t misremembered and that some spare change had indeed gone missing.

Once, twice, a third time—Fallon endured it all.

But the last time, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, with no evidence whatsoever, accused Joy of having sticky fingers.

Fallon blew up on the spot. No longer caring if she was offending them, she confronted her in-laws directly.

She asked them, "There are two children in this house, so why do you assume Joy was the one who stole the money? Couldn’t Momo have stolen it?"

But her in-laws favored their daughter, and by extension, they favored Momo. "Momo wouldn’t do that. He’s so well-behaved he doesn’t even take money when we offer it. How could he possibly steal?"

The mother-in-law even added, "Joy, on the other hand, is always so quiet and sullen. She must be hiding a bellyful of secrets."

At that moment, Momo chimed in, "Joy did steal the money! I even saw her!"

Fallon was so angry she actually laughed.

Her father-in-law and mother-in-law knew all about Joy’s premature birth and developmental delays. How could they say such things?

She immediately flew into a rage, demanding they get to the bottom of it.

Her husband knew about Renee Jennings’s live stream, so she suggested they have Renee ask Dumpling, who might have witnessed what happened.

But when she’d waited for Renee Jennings’s stream last Thursday, she hadn’t been able to connect.

Fallon had been checking constantly for the past few days to see if Renee was online. When she saw the stream tonight, she immediately requested to connect, not expecting to be lucky enough to be the first one chosen.

[Your in-laws are going too far. How can they say that?]

[But that’s their own granddaughter! They don’t feel any pity for her at all.]

[Uh, was your husband adopted or something?]

After listening to Fallon’s story, a grave expression appeared on Renee Jennings’s face, and her slender brows furrowed slightly. "What your father-in-law and mother-in-law did was indeed inappropriate."

"Hey, you little girl! It’s not your place to tell us how to run our family," the mother-in-law snapped from off-camera.

Fallon shot her an irritated look and said angrily, "I asked the streamer here to help. She has every right to comment on this matter."

"Shaun, are you just going to stand there? Control your wife!" the father-in-law said unhappily.

Sean Sterling finally spoke, sounding helpless. "Autumn, couldn’t you just talk a bit less?"

"No!" Fallon roared back. "You don’t care about your daughter, so are you going to stop me from standing up for her? Sean Sterling, are you even a man?"

An ugly look crossed Sean Sterling’s face. He pressed his lips together and said nothing.

"Fallon, how can you talk to my brother like that?" the sister-in-law said sarcastically from the side. "There are a lot of people watching this stream, aren’t there? You’re making my brother lose face."

"Hah." Fallon gave a sarcastic laugh. Ignoring her sister-in-law, she turned her gaze back to the screen, her face full of apology. "Sorry, everyone. I’ve made a spectacle of myself."

[Fallon, I support you!]

[A useless husband, unscrupulous in-laws... Fallon, you’re in such a tough spot.]

[Why don’t you move out?]

"I’ll explain everything to you all later," Fallon said, walking over to Dumpling. "Streamer, please help me ask Dumpling if he saw who really stole the spare change."

"Of course," Renee Jennings said. She looked at the Samoyed, which had its fur done up in little pigtails with pink and yellow clips. "Dumpling, do you know why everyone is fighting?"

"I do." Dumpling nodded his head vigorously. "Dumpling doesn’t want everyone to fight. Dumpling doesn’t want Joy to be misunderstood."

"Are you saying Joy was wrongfully accused?" Renee asked.

"That’s right. Joy didn’t steal the spare change."

Renee Jennings asked, "Dumpling, does that mean you saw who did steal the spare change?"

"Yes," Dumpling said, whimpering. "Momo stole the spare change. Grandma knows, too, but she told Momo not to admit it, and to say that Joy stole it instead."

Renee Jennings’s expression darkened instantly. She could hardly believe what she was hearing.

One is their son’s child, the other their daughter’s. Aren’t they both their own flesh and blood? Why would Fallon’s in-laws be so biased?

Moreover, there was something seriously wrong with their character. How could they teach a nine-year-old child to lie and frame Joy, who has developmental delays?

’Are they sick in the head!’
