Chapter 376: Chapter 376: I Won’t Let Him and Number Three Have It Easy
"What did you say?" Lily Crowe stared at Joan Lowe in disbelief. "You want to stay in this house?"
"That’s right," Joan Lowe said matter-of-factly. "We’ll all live together from now on."
Lily Crowe turned to Bruno Lawson. "Is this what you want, too?"
Bruno Lawson didn’t speak, but his silence was a clear answer.
Lily Crowe’s eyes were bloodshot. She screamed hysterically, "Bruno Lawson, have you lost your mind?"
Bruno Lawson looked at her indifferently. "Will you ever stop? This arrangement was made with you in mind, too."
"Ridiculous!" Lily Crowe sneered. "You call this being ’with me in mind’?"
"What else could it be?" Joan Lowe interjected. "Sister-in-law, Bruno could have divorced you, but he didn’t. It’s because he’s worried about you living alone and wants to stay by your side."
Lily Crowe took a deep breath and snapped, "I don’t need disgusting people like you to keep me company! Get out of this house! This is my and Jolie’s home, don’t you dare defile it!"
"I don’t think so," Joan Lowe said. "I like this house, so I’m going to live here."
Lily Crowe was infuriated by Joan Lowe’s shamelessness. Her breathing grew ragged, her head throbbed, and the world began to spin around her.
She leaned against the liquor cabinet to steady herself, pointing a weak finger toward the door. "Get out. Stop making me sick!"
"Sister-in-law, you’re just too stubborn," Joan Lowe said nonchalantly. "Isn’t it a good thing to have another person in the house to help you serve your man?"
"Pah!" Lily Crowe was furious. "Just shut up! You’re disgusting!"
She turned back to Bruno Lawson, her voice tight with rage. "Take Joan Lowe and get out! Tomorrow, we’re going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get a divorce. The house and the money will all go to Jolie!"
"Not a chance!" Joan Lowe shot to her feet, puffing out her stomach smugly. "Lily Crowe, I’m pregnant, and it’s a boy. Everything in this house will belong to my son. Jolie can forget about getting anything!"
Hearing this, Lily Crowe stared in shock at her belly, her voice trembling. "You... you’re pregnant with Bruno’s child?"
"That’s right." Joan Lowe walked to Bruno Lawson’s side, linking her arm with his and cooed, "And he was so happy about it."
Lily Crowe stared at the two of them, her face pale and her lips trembling. "You... you two..."
She couldn’t finish her sentence. Her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed to the floor.
Seeing this, Joan Lowe asked in surprise, "Why did Sister-in-law faint?"
Rolly scurried to Lily Crowe’s side, nudging his fluffy little head against her again and again.
When she didn’t respond, Rolly licked her hand and let out a series of soft meows. "Mama..."
"What should we do?" Joan Lowe asked.
Bruno Lawson was unconcerned. "Ignore her. She’ll wake up on her own. I’ll take you out for a massage."
He left with his arm around Joan Lowe.
Lily Crowe lay on the cold floor with only Rolly by her side.
When Bruno Lawson returned home the next evening, he found Lily Crowe still lying on the floor. A flash of panic finally crossed his face.
He rushed to her side, desperately calling her name. Seeing that she was still unconscious, he quickly dialed 911.
By the time Renee Jennings finished recounting the story, Marmalade’s face was already streaked with tears.
"So it was my dad who killed my mom!"
[This is infuriating! If she had been taken to the hospital in time, your mother could have been saved!!!]
[Your father is just unbelievable! A stranger would have helped, let alone her own husband!]
[This makes me so mad! I’ve been watching Renee’s streams for so long, and this is the first time I’ve been angry enough to post a comment!]
[He doesn’t deserve to be a husband, and he doesn’t deserve to be a father!]
Marmalade’s shoulders trembled as tears streamed down her face. Her voice shook. "He... he’s such a disappointment!"
’He brought Number Three home, drove Mom to collapse, and then left her for dead!’
’And in the end, he even hid the true cause of her sudden stroke, completely absolving himself of all responsibility!’
"I’ll never forgive him!" Marmalade wiped fiercely at her tears, but fresh ones just kept falling. "I will never, ever forgive Bruno Lawson! He and Joan Lowe are the ones who murdered my mother!"
Even Renee Jennings, who was used to such things, was taken aback.
’How can some people be so heartless and cruel?’
If Bruno Lawson hadn’t left with Joan Lowe, if he had stayed and called an ambulance for Lily Crowe, this tragedy would never have happened.
"Host, thank you!" Marmalade forced herself to calm down. "Thank you for helping me find the truth. I’m going to go back and settle the score with Bruno Lawson right now!"
Renee Jennings reminded her, "Remember to save the evidence."
"Okay!" Marmalade nodded solemnly. "I won’t let him and Number Three get away with this! How dare they continue to live their happy lives after they drove my mother to her death!"
[Marmalade, I support you!]
[Marmalade, where do you live? Need some backup? I’m a 9th-dan taekwondo black belt!]
[You can’t let your dad and Number Three get away with it! Go, Marmalade!]
Renee Jennings also said softly, "You can call me if you need help, too."
Marmalade thanked everyone sincerely. "Thank you all so much. You’ve given me a lot of strength and courage. I want to try and handle this on my own first. If I can’t, I’ll ask for backup."
"Of course," Renee Jennings nodded. "I look forward to hearing good news from you."
"Thank you!" Marmalade took a few steps back and gave a deep bow to the camera.
After she logged off, she gifted three Light Blessings, each worth 2,888 yuan.
[Go, Marmalade, you little rich girl!]
[I feel like Marmalade is a really, really good person.]
[My heart really aches for her and her mom! Why don’t good people get happy endings?]
[Waaaah, I’m all out of tears.]
Renee Jennings sighed to herself. A glance at the time in the upper-right corner showed it was already one o’clock. She hadn’t eaten lunch yet, and whenever she felt upset, her stomach would start to growl.
"I’ll connect with one more viewer, then end the stream."
’Time to sign off and eat.’
[Nooo, it’s still early!]
[Yeah, yeah, don’t stop the stream~]
[I want to see more! So many walks of life, it’s like a drama!]
[It’s true that art imitates life. I’ve seen so many things in this stream that you’d only expect to see in a TV show.]
Renee Jennings had no choice but to explain, "I’m a little hungry. I need to log off and eat soon."
Another flood of comments flashed by, asking her to do a mukbang stream while she ate.
Renee Jennings pretended not to see them and said calmly, "Alright, now connecting to our third viewer."
A rather unremarkable face soon appeared on the split screen. The ID was "So-and-so."
It was a boy with a textured crop haircut. He had a somewhat flat nose, wide-set eyes, and his skin wasn’t great, with a smattering of old and new acne scars on his cheeks.
When "So-and-so" realized he was live, he immediately straightened his hair and struck a pose he thought was cool. "Hey, beautiful host. I’m So-and-so."
"Hello," Renee Jennings nodded.
