Book 4, Chapter 101: Disposal

After Han Fu’s motorcade entered Martial Order District, the drivers in the other cars received a notification from the principal car. A reconnaissance vehicle shot out and went to the front of the motorcade to send information about the traffic conditions.

Around twenty minutes later, the motorcade started approaching the Resolution Department, but they did not notice that as they drove down the road, the cars and passersby started dwindling in number.

If anyone looked down from the sky, they would have seen the cars and passersby in the areas they drove past being sent away. No one was allowed in either.

The driver of Han Fu’s limousine was observing the traffic through his Realm Pass, and he was fed information of all the cars passing them by. The situation was no different from usual.

Everything was normal.

Ten minutes later, the motorcade passed by a street, and they finally noticed something wrong.

The road ahead was deserted, and the reconnaissance vehicle that had stayed ahead of them was gone, even though half a minute ago, it had still been sending messages back.

“Sir?” When the driver noticed this, he immediately turned his head around to ask.

Han Fu’s eyes were trained ahead. After a while, he said, “Continue onward.”

Based on his experience, he didn’t need to look to know that the road behind him had already been sealed off. If they were doing this so blatantly, it meant that his enemy was prepared. Even if they switched roads now, it would be useless, so they could only continue onward.

As they continued down the road, they could see the black muzzles of machine guns pointing at them from higher points and secluded areas. Spaced out along the road were armored cars. They were completely surrounded.

Then, a shadow enveloped them. An armed airship flew over, and the gatling gun mounted underneath it faced the motorcade. A number of the security guards broke out in cold sweat.

Considering the extreme display of force, they were clearly in major trouble, so they slowed down. Occasionally, a car would pass them.

After another turn, the motorcade reached a wider road. It allowed them to see everything within several kilometers. At the front and back of the road an airship was suspended in the air to seal off the road.

Standing at the center of the road was Chen Chuan, and the Frost King Saber was stuck in the ground next to him. He had his hat on, and his overcoat fluttered in the wind. A long scarf as red as scarlet fire danced behind him.

The building next to him cast a shadow exactly where the Frost King Saber stood, splitting the road cleanly in darkness and light.

Han Fu stared at Chen Chuan for a long while before finally saying, “Stop.”

The limousine came to a screeching halt, and everyone went forward due to inertia. The tires of the cars behind screeched as they stopped.

The machine guns on both sides were pointed at them, so without Han Fu’s orders, the security guards didn’t dare to move.

After a while, the limousine’s door opened, and Han Fu walked out. As if the blinding sun caused him discomfort, he pushed his hat lower, placed his hand on his sword, and walked over to Chen Chuan.

With the eyes of everyone present on him, he arrived in front of Chen Chuan before looking at both sides and asking stiffly, “What’s the meaning of this, Lead Investigator Chen?”

Chen Chuan watched him for a moment. “Don’t you know? It was only yesterday. Have you already forgotten about it?”

“After 5 p.m., I was with the politicians at their meeting, since I’m in charge of the security of the meeting hall,” Han Fu said flatly. “I only left not too long ago, so I don’t understand what you’re saying. Besides, even if I was involved in some unclear situation, we’re both lead investigators. You don’t have the right to demand answers from me.”

“Actually, I do.”

The moment his voice faded, everyone, including Han Fu, received a message in their Realm Passes.

It stated that Chen Chuan had been temporarily granted highest authority by the Resolution Department and the Department of Administrative Affairs. In emergency situations, he could issue orders to lead investigators and all those ranked below.

At the bottom of the authorization letter wasn’t just the signature of Wu Quan, but also Special Officer Liang Guanghai, Chief Secretary Qi Weizhao of the Department of Administrative Affairs, and others.

It was proof that Chen Chuan had received support from the highest ranking officials from the Department of Administrative Affairs.

Han Fu’s expression changed drastically.

Before he could regain his composure, more messages were sent to everyone’s Realm Passes.

They held recordings, conversations, and videos provided by Lead Investigator Wen. Most importantly, they contained a detailed report from the National General Affairs Bureau that recreated the truth of what had happened, along with the fact that Lead Investigator Wen had already passed away after being ambushed by Han Fu.

The Resolution Department officers had been confused as to what was going on before this, but after seeing the messages, they were shocked, then filled with indignant rage, especially Lead Investigator Wen’s former subordinates. Even though they were mentally prepared for their superior’s death, the confirmation that their beloved superior had died made them glare at Han Fu like he was their mortal enemy. If looks could kill, Han Fu would be dead a hundred times over.

“Also, I need to tell you that the National General Affairs Bureau has seized your substitute. We now have ample evidence of your crimes,” Chen Chuan said.

“You betrayed the Resolution Department, murdered a colleague, and worked together with the Union and the Linacrox Union. All of these are criminal offenses of the highest degree. Han Fu, your actions can be labeled as being a traitor of the nation.”

When Han Fu didn’t say anything, Chen Chuan brought his hand up and removed his gloves before throwing them on the ground. Then, he clenched his fists, and they let out a loud pop as he said, “If you can’t remember, I will help.”

Han Fu put a hand on his sword’s hilt and drew it swiftly. He lunged forward, and as cobblestones were sent flying, he closed dozens of meters to thrust his sword.

Chen Chuan simply watched him. When the sword was about to touch him, he brought his hand up and grabbed the blade.

Boom!

Han Fu froze, and a pit appeared under his feet. His hands remained holding his sword hilt while he was leaning forward, but no matter how much strength he put into pushing the blade forward, he couldn’t make it move an inch.

Cracking sounds came from the sword, and Han Fu’s eyes widened in surprise. His mutated sword bent under Chen Chuan’s grip, even though it was supposed to be able to endure even refined force.

Abruptly, he let go of the sword and ducked down to get closer to Chen Chuan. At the same time, he pressed his fingers tightly together to deliver a chop at his abdomen.

While his hand was headed to its target, his vision blurred, and he felt a blow to his chin. His mind buzzed, and he was thrown far back before crashing on the road with a dull thud.

Chen Chuan threw away the deformed sword and walked over.

Han Fu had actually lost consciousness for a brief moment. Once he woke up, he shook his head and pushed himself up.

Right after he took up a defensive stance, Chen Chuan vanished. The next moment, he reappeared right in front of him. In haste, Han Fu brought his arms up to shield himself and instantly mobilized all of his mutated tissue.

Boom!

Their Heartborn Forces exploded in the air, and he was forced dozens of meters back by the energy generated by the blast. His arms trembled nonstop.

Chen Chuan continued forward. No emotion could be detected on his face, while the red scarf fluttered behind him.

Han Fu bent his back and focused as he stared at Chen Chuan. He wanted to seize the initiative, but he was sent flying again before he could see Chen Chuan’s movements.

This time, not only did he not manage to stabilize himself, but he also bounced off the ground a few times and rolled for a bit before his body finally stilled.

The Resolution Department officers watched in silence.

Han Fu didn’t get up immediately. When he heard footsteps approaching him from the back, he suddenly turned around to deliver an uppercut.

Boom!

The attack hit Chen Chuan.

But to his disbelief, the Heartborn Force Lead Investigator Wen had struggled to defend against didn’t even cause Chen Chuan to sway. It only made his overcoat dance a bit.

Chen Chuan looked down. “You’re far too weak. How on earth did you manage to become a lead investigator?”

Han Fu’s face twisted with savagery, and he moved to deliver another punch with his other arm, but before he could do anything, a blow struck his stomach, and he was sent flying with a high kick.

Chen Chuan watched him go up and grabbed his leg before slamming him on the ground. A loud bang rose, and the ground shattered in the shape of a spider’s web. There was a pit in the middle of it.

Han Fu lay in it with his eyes rolled back. He regained consciousness soon and tried to get up by pushing his arms against the ground, but Chen Chuan punched his face. Han Fu coughed up shattered teeth as he was sent sprawling on the ground again.

He once more pushed himself up, refusing to give up. After a low growl, the refined force on his fists caused the air to explode.

Chen Chuan reached out and smacked away the refined force with a casual flick. Then, he punched Han Fu in the stomach again, which suspended him in the air for a brief moment before he was sent flying into the distance like a cannonball.

This time, Han Fu was sent more than a hundred meters away. The road was covered in shallow pits where he crashed onto the ground and shallow trenches where he used his hands to try and stop himself.

The officers on both sides of the road watched as Chen Chuan brutally beat up Han Fu. They were both lead investigators, but Han Fu was as powerless as a child.

Han Fu’s security team was pale from fright and didn’t dare to move from their seats. They had completely frozen up.
