Chapter 588: Chapter 572: Grand Governor
This was the newly built server room, located three hundred meters underground in the First Administrative District.
The massive underground space was spotless. Countless faint blue Magic Crystal pipelines intertwined, constructing a colossal mechanical brain that constantly flickered with flowing light. This was the physical carrier of the Grand Governor.
"The Grand Governor has been activated," Jarvis’s voice echoed through the server room. "Commencing global data handover."
On the holographic light screens, data streams poured down madly like a waterfall.
"Census data handover for the First to Seventh Administrative Districts, complete.
"Production capacity scheduling protocol transfer for all three hundred and twenty-seven mining areas across the territory, complete.
"Security monitoring network, Contribution Points settlement system, and basic logistics network, successfully connected..."
As each piece of complex livelihood and administrative data was stripped away, Jarvis’s system load curve began to plummet vertically at a visible rate.
"Governmental authority for the G-771 Plane has been completely handed over.
"Current main system computing power usage: 11.2%," Jarvis reported, his voice simulating a trace of human-like relief for the first time. "Commander, I feel like a mountain has been lifted off my shoulders. Now, I finally have enough computing power to deduce scientific research tasks."
Allen looked at the silver matrix tower that was beginning to run smoothly and nodded.
Over the past three years, the population mobility and commercial activities of the Divine Kingdom of Ten Thousand Machines had grown exponentially. As the incarnate Supreme Will, Jarvis not only had to manage Cybertron but also handle the daily necessities of six hundred million people. Even a clogged sewer on a random street or a miscalculated Contribution Point for a native would occupy its processing threads.
Now, all of these trivial yet massive datasets fell under the jurisdiction of the Grand Governor. Modeled after Jarvis’s workshop will, the Grand Governor was a specialized administrative intelligence created by Allen using artificial soul technology. It would serve as the highest administrative hub of the Divine Kingdom of Ten Thousand Machines, strictly following the Code of Truth to efficiently drive this massive social machine that housed nearly seven hundred million people.
"The computing power crisis has been resolved, which means we can begin our next phase," Allen said, turning toward the elevator. "Let’s go meet our outsourcing team. Since we spent so much money, we ought to see the results for ourselves."
Zone One, the outskirts of Mage City.
The once-barren Gobi Desert had now been completely leveled. A grayish-white hardened ground covered tens of thousands of square meters, and at the center of the square stood a hundred-meter-tall ring-shaped Star Gate. Cast from a dark gold special alloy, the surface of the Star Gate was densely engraved with hundreds of thousands of micro-carved spatial Runes.
On both sides of the Star Gate lay sprawling giant storage areas and logistics hubs. Twelve heavy-duty railways converged here like a steel spider web. On the distant platforms, hundreds of ten-meter-tall Engineering Golems were loading crates of refined ore onto the Magic Energy Trains.
This was the newly constructed Star Gate Square, functioning as both a cargo hub and a port. Standing beneath the Star Gate, Allen looked up at the magnificent creation. Before him stood three Second-level Wizards dressed in the robes of different schools. Behind them were dozens of First-level Wizards and Advanced Apprentices they had brought along.
"Mr. Allen." A Wizard with a cybernetic implant covering half his face stepped forward and bowed slightly. He was a Second-level Wizard from the Star Ring organization and the general director of this Star Gate expansion project, Barton.
"Master Barton, the progress over these past three years is astonishing." Allen smiled and returned the greeting with an impeccable attitude.
"We are simply doing the job we were paid for," Barton said, a trace of unconcealable pride flashing in his eyes. "Per your requirements, this Intermediate Star Gate employs the latest Multi-Dimensional Anchor Points technology. Its maximum throughput has increased by a full forty times compared to the original small Star Gate.
"It can not only support five hundred people entering and exiting simultaneously, but it can also allow a single kilometer-long Floating Battleship to pass directly through. The supporting spatial stabilization field is strong enough to ensure that ordinary mortals won’t have so much as a corner of their clothes torn by spatial turbulence during transit."
Allen nodded in satisfaction. An investment of five hundred million Magic Stones had bought him a true cross-Plane highway, opening up the G-771 Plane’s physical bottleneck to the outside world.
"And the communication network?" Allen turned to look at another Female Wizard, this one wearing a purple Wizard Robe with a cold and crisp demeanor.
"The Sky Vault cross-Plane communication system is fully online," the Female Wizard replied in a capable tone, handing over a crystal data pad. "We have laid three thousand Magic Power relay nodes on the outer layer of the Plane Crystal Wall. It is currently connected to the Mystic Code Council’s public line. It can simultaneously accommodate three million people for cross-boundary instant communication with a latency of no more than 0.5 seconds, and its encryption level has reached Level 2 standards."
Although Allen had his own communication system within Cybertron and Wesren Heavy Industry, that was strictly for internal use and wasn’t suitable for linking with public communication lines.
"The Plane defense system is also complete," the final Second-level Wizard chimed in with a muffled, booming voice. He had a burly build and radiated intense heat from his entire body. "We systematically reinforced the Plane Crystal Wall and implanted one hundred and six thousand sets of energy guidance nodes and Rune Control Matrices. Today, the G-771 Plane’s Crystal Wall strength is twenty-seven times what it was three years ago, capable of effectively resisting illegal invasions. You can now use this system of ours to build your Plane customs.
"In addition, we have successfully connected the five hundred Celestial Thrones—the high-altitude monitoring firepower platforms you assembled yourself—with the Crystal Wall Defense Array. If foreign enemies attempt to forcefully tear through the Crystal Wall, the system will instantly lock onto their coordinates and automatically counterattack. Even if a Dawn Star Level Wizard tries to force their way in, they’ll have to put in some serious effort."
Allen looked at the three Second-level Wizards before him, his eyes full of admiration. Over the past three years, he had spent 1.8 billion Magic Stones to hire these three teams specializing in the Rune Array System. It was undeniably expensive, but the results were absolutely stunning.
Professions have their specialties. Although Allen had nearly twenty cognitive threads assisting him in studying and research, in highly specialized subfields of runology like spatial engineering, ultra-long-distance communication, and large-scale defense arrays—which required thousands of years of accumulated heritage—he couldn’t possibly outwork a mature team all by himself, even if he worked himself to death.
"Blue-collar White Wizards really make for a lucrative business," Allen muttered inwardly. "These engineering folks swindled 1.8 billion from me in just three years. Once I establish a supernatural education system, I absolutely have to train a batch of cheap, local engineers to steal their jobs. Cost reduction and efficiency improvement will be my main focus."
Despite plotting how to outcompete them in his mind, Allen smiled as warmly as a spring breeze on the surface, offering them plenty of emotional validation.
"The craftsmanship of you three masters has truly opened my eyes. With this infrastructure in place, my remote territory finally possesses a trace of civilization." Allen personally picked up glasses of Magic Drink from an attendant’s tray and handed them to the three. "The final payment has already been wired to your accounts. In addition, I have prepared an extra bonus for each of you equal to one percent of the total project cost. Consider it my personal gratitude for the hard work your teams have put in over the last three years."
The eyes of the three Second-level Wizards lit up. A one percent bonus was still eighteen million Magic Stones! For a team of Second-level Wizards, this was a massive sum that was enough to make their hearts race.
"Mr. Allen, you are far too generous!" Barton’s face broke into a blooming smile, sweeping away all his previous reserve as he even bowed slightly. "If there are any other Plane projects in the future, please be sure to prioritize our Star Ring team. As long as it’s your project, we will offer a flat ten percent discount!"
"Of course," Allen smiled, clinking glasses with them.
This was the charm of capital. As long as the price was right, even a Second-level Wizard could be turned into an on-call contractor.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, the three teams began packing up their equipment, preparing to leave. Allen didn’t put on airs, personally seeing them off at the Star Gate.
"Open the Star Gate," Allen ordered.
BOOM—
The hundred-meter-tall ring-shaped Star Gate emitted a deep rumble. Massive amounts of Magic Power were forcefully drawn from the underground energy-conducting pipelines and poured into the Star Gate’s base. The dark gold alloy ring lit up with blinding blue light in sequence. The space in the center rippled violently like water waves, eventually stabilizing into a gigantic blue vortex.
"Until we meet again, Mr. Allen." Barton and the others bowed once more, leading their teams into the Star Gate before vanishing into the blue light.
Allen stood rooted to the spot, watching the slowly rotating spatial vortex. The smile on his face gradually faded, his gaze growing profound.
"Phase one of the project is mostly complete," he muttered softly to himself.
The network was connected, the gate was opened, and the roads were pretty much paved. Next, he only needed to patiently wait for the education and industrial systems of this Plane to gradually grow and strengthen. When its wings were fully developed, that would be the moment it bared its fangs to the surrounding Star Domains.
"Commander," Jarvis’s voice echoed in his mind. "High-energy spatial fluctuations detected. A large object is currently passing through the Star Gate. Identification signal: Wesren Heavy Industry. Automatic clearance granted."
Allen looked up.
The blue vortex of the Star Gate suddenly trembled violently, blinding arcs of electricity flashing along its edges. Immediately after, a six-hundred-meter-long Floating Ship, entirely painted silver-gray, slowly pushed its bow out from the vortex. On both sides of the hull, the massive logo of Wesren Heavy Industry shone brightly in the sunlight.
The engine of the Floating Ship let out a low roar, whipping up a fierce gust of wind that sent Allen’s black Wizard Robe fluttering loudly.
On the outskirts of the square, countless native laborers stopped their work. They stared blankly up at the sky, watching the giant steel ship that seemed to break through the heavens, their eyes filled with awe and shock.
But this was merely the beginning.
As the first Floating Ship fully emerged from the Star Gate, a second followed, then a third... An entire fleet composed of twelve medium-sized commercial transport ships formed a steel cloud, blotting out the sky over the outskirts of Mage City.
The cabin doors opened. Colin and Vera, dressed in crisp black uniforms, flew down from the Floating Ship, leading over a hundred core executives and technical backbones of Wesren Heavy Industry.
Colin walked up to Allen, an energetic smile on his face. "Boss, the Wesren Heavy Industry expeditionary team has arrived in full."
Allen looked at this core team of his own, the corners of his mouth curling upward.
"Welcome to our new world."
