Chapter 366: Chapter 366: There Might Be a Surprise
"If I gave you a gun, how many people could you take out?"
Stella Sterling’s random question left Andrew Shaw completely stunned.
Their car was now parked at a small intersection. Staring at the distant village, Andrew Shaw mulled it over for a long while.
Finally, he said helplessly, "I’m only five years old!"
’Even with a gun, there’s no way I could take on an entire village by myself.’
’Besides, who knows if they have any firearms?’
’Even if they don’t, I still couldn’t win.’
Stella Sterling turned to look at him. "Five years old. The perfect age to go out and get some real-world experience!"
Andrew Shaw’s eyes widened innocently. ’She’s so insistent... Don’t tell me she’s actually planning to send me in alone?’
’A five-year-old kid, taking a weapon to go wipe out an entire faction?’
As he thought about it, even as he felt it was hopeless, a surge of hot-blooded excitement stirred in Andrew Shaw’s heart.
’How cool would that scene be!’
’But the aftermath would probably be pretty tragic!’
He said, "Why don’t we just leave? We don’t know how many of them there are, and according to those dozen or so people from earlier, this group is bad news."
"Look, there are only two of us. Isn’t that just like a sheep walking into a tiger’s den? And a den full of tigers, at that."
"Besides, this has nothing to do with you anyway. We can leave now, and once we’re gone, it’ll have even less to do with us. Why bother getting involved in other people’s business?"
As he spoke, Andrew Shaw lowered his head.
It wasn’t that he was completely cold-blooded. He knew those dozen or so people were in a pitiful situation.
If they had the ability to help, he would want to lend a hand; after all, he had a decent impression of them.
He also wanted to help them eliminate this hidden threat.
But unfortunately, his power was limited. Never mind being a five-year-old kid now; even in his past life, it would have been difficult for him to take on that many people alone. One wrong move and his life would be over.
Even with Stella Sterling, as capable as she was, there were still only two of them. If the enemy only had a dozen or so people, they might have the confidence to give it a shot, especially since this woman was so formidable.
But those dozen-plus people had said this faction wanted to build a base. A group with ambitions like that wouldn’t be a simple bunch.
That’s why he didn’t really advise Stella Sterling to get involved. After all, people should act according to their own capabilities.
’Besides, Stella Sterling isn’t exactly a good person to begin with.’
But he couldn’t say that out loud. After some thought, he tried to persuade her, "I know you’re as kind as you are beautiful, and you’re thinking about helping those people resolve this crisis. If we had the ability, I’d say we help. But the problem is, right now, our abilities are limited."
"Mm, of course I know that. Help if you have the ability, otherwise, you’d just be courting death. Do I look that stupid to you?"
Stella Sterling said with a half-smile, lightly tapping her fingers.
Andrew Shaw quickly shook his head and waved his hands. "No way! You’re smart and capable. The word ’stupid’ has absolutely nothing to do with you!"
’She might be powerful, sure, but is she confident she can take on that many people by herself?’
He had said his piece, but it seemed Stella Sterling still had no intention of changing her mind.
He sighed internally, then closed his eyes. "Fine, fine. You’re right. Five is the perfect age for training. I’ll go. If something happens to me, you have to promise you’ll at least collect my whole corpse."
With that, he pulled open the car door, ready to get out with the air of a martyr bravely facing death.
However, the moment he opened the door, a wave of hot air rushed in. He promptly shut it again and said in a negotiating tone, "Miss, why don’t we make our move at night? It’s daytime now, so we’d be too obvious. It’ll be easier to operate in the dark."
"Hahaha!"
Stella Sterling burst out laughing, and Andrew Shaw looked at her, confused.
He couldn’t figure out what she was suddenly laughing about, but she seemed to be in a great mood.
’So she probably won’t refuse my request, right?’
’If it’s at night, and she gives me a gun, maybe I could actually give it a try. Using the darkness and the terrain, as long as I ambush them from the shadows and don’t get discovered, I might really be able to write a glorious Chapter in my history.’
At this thought, he grew excited. The hot-bloodedness in his bones was stirred once more, and even his fear vanished.
He became fired up with fighting spirit, eagerly awaiting the night.
So, looking at Stella Sterling, he said, "At night, I’m very confident in myself."
After a moment’s thought, he added, "Of course, it would be even better if you were there to back me up."
Hearing his words, Stella Sterling’s interest was piqued.
She had only been teasing him earlier; she hadn’t actually intended for him to go.
Even if he was from the future, his body was still that of a five-year-old.
He probably couldn’t muster much combat strength.
But unexpectedly, he had taken her seriously, and from the looks of it, he was quite confident in himself.
So she nodded. "Alright then. I’ll be waiting to see your performance tonight."
She also wanted to see just what kind of skills this person who had survived for eighteen years in the apocalypse possessed.
Maybe he could even give her a little surprise.
Having gotten Stella Sterling’s approval, Andrew Shaw became even happier.
With this woman by his side to back him up, he felt at ease. ’Even if something goes wrong, she probably wouldn’t just leave me to fend for myself, right?’
That way, he could go all out.
’Looks like I can really let loose and show what I can do.’
He thought about how, ever since transmigrating back from the apocalypse, the limitations of his body had put him in a position of absolute weakness.
These past few years had been nothing short of frustrating.
’Maybe tonight, I’ll be able to vent all this frustration.’
’And the people I’m dealing with today are all scum who don’t act like human beings. That means I’ll have no psychological burden taking them on.’
Stella Sterling looked at his confident expression, knowing that for him to speak with such conviction, while there was some caution mixed in, he must also have some real skills of his own.
After all, in his previous life, he was only a little over seven years old when the apocalypse began—not much different from his current age. Yet, he managed to survive in that world, which in itself proved he was no simple character.
Glancing at the blazing sun outside, Stella Sterling ate her fill and then went to sleep.
At first, Andrew Shaw was too excited to sleep, but being alone in the car was boring, and there was still a long time until nightfall.
Slowly, he drifted off to sleep.
