Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Taking You to Do Another Good Deed
For a moment, the mood of the group grew somber again.
It was a pity that their group, full of the old and weak, was no match for those thugs. They couldn’t escape even if they wanted to.
If the enemy came to capture people again, they didn’t know if the ten or so of them would be able to get away.
But looking at Stella Sterling before them, they still spoke up. "There’s a small village southwest of here, down this road. Those people were all just local thugs before, but now they’ve gathered there. They prey on the weak."
"We heard they’re planning to build some kind of base. That’s why they’re grabbing people from all over to use as forced labor."
"If it was just about working, that would be one thing. But those animals don’t give us food or water and just keep exploiting everyone. They’re practically killing people!"
As they spoke, their voices couldn’t help but fill with anger.
They were all human. In times like these, shouldn’t they be helping each other through the crisis? Why were these people preying on their own kind?
Faced with their anger, Stella Sterling said nothing.
The old man looked at her. "Kid, when you leave, avoid that direction. Don’t run into those people. They’re bad news. Especially for a young woman like you, you have to be extra, extra careful."
He was worried. She was about to leave, and he could only hope she wouldn’t encounter that gang. After all, a kind young woman like her was a rare sight these days.
Besides, she had just helped them. He couldn’t bear the thought of her falling into the hands of those animals.
Hearing this, the others also looked at Stella Sterling with worry, speaking up one by one to warn her to be careful, reminding her which areas to avoid and which way to go.
The feeling was a bit strange for Stella Sterling. In her previous life and the one before, through two apocalypses, this was the first time she’d ever been cared for by so many people.
She had never even met them before today; they had only crossed paths this once.
This made Stella Sterling feel a bit sentimental.
In this apocalypse, some struggled just to survive. Some grew cold, some became cruel, and some harmed their own kind for personal gain.
But there were also those who would sacrifice themselves to save their comrades!
And there were still people who remained kind, through and through.
It made her see this apocalypse in a slightly different light.
She glanced at them, nodded, and smiled. "I’ll remember that. Thank you all for your concern. You take care of yourselves too, and survive this apocalypse."
After saying this, Stella Sterling slowly started the car.
When the others heard her words, they watched her with smiles on their faces, their eyes filled with hope.
But their hearts felt a bitter pang. They didn’t even have the ability to escape this city, let alone the immediate area. How could they possibly survive for long in this cruel apocalypse?
It wasn’t so bad for the older ones among them, but they pitied the teenagers who hadn’t even had a chance to see the good things in life yet.
And on top of that, there was still that huge threat lurking in the shadows.
But these things had nothing to do with a young woman like her. They didn’t say any of this in front of her, simply smiling and waving goodbye.
But just then, the car window rolled down. Stella Sterling stuck her head out. "Here, one more gift for you. Catch."
As she spoke, she pulled out a cloth-wrapped object from inside and tossed it toward Spike.
Spike quickly reached out and caught it, but Stella Sterling’s car had already sped away in a flash.
Everyone stared curiously at the object in Spike’s hands.
And under their watchful eyes, Spike carefully unwrapped the cloth-covered package.
The next moment, everyone present gasped.
It was two guns. Two submachine guns.
But there was no ammunition inside!
They all looked at each other. The old man exclaimed in amazement, "Just who is that young woman?!"
They never would have imagined it. They were just strangers who had only just met. Not only had she given them so much food, but she had even given them weapons like these.
Just then, the old man seemed to remember something. He suddenly ran back into his house. The others, confused, followed him. Inside, they saw a small box of bullets.
They had no idea when she had put it there, but it was clear she had planned to give these things to them all along.
Spike’s voice choked with emotion. "She didn’t lie to me."
The old man was also overcome with emotion. "We really met a truly good person."
The others were silent, their hearts filled with shock and gratitude.
’She left these things so that we would have a way to fight back.’
’She knew we were still facing a great danger. Is that why she left these, so we could protect ourselves?’
Inside the car, Stella and the others were slowly driving away from the city. The bags of jewels that had been in the car were now stored away by Stella Sterling in her space.
Andrew Shaw sat in the back, watching Stella Sterling with a complicated expression.
He realized that after today, he truly couldn’t understand this woman at all.
There was no guessing what she was going to do next. Her actions were full of contradictions.
He especially never would have thought she would just give away something like a gun.
It was completely beyond his expectations!
She had given him a gun before, and now she had given those people two more.
He had no idea how many of these weapons she had. The real question was, if she had such amazing things, why didn’t she use them when dealing with those thugs earlier?
It just went to show how confident she was in her own abilities!
And everything that had happened now confirmed it: this woman was definitely no ordinary person.
After holding it in for a long time, Andrew Shaw finally couldn’t resist asking, "Why did you help them like that? You don’t know them. You didn’t have to do all that, did you?"
Stella Sterling didn’t turn around. She kept her eyes on the road, but her voice was laced with amusement. "Didn’t I tell you? I’m a really good person."
Andrew Shaw didn’t believe a single word of it.
But he still started sucking up. "You’re right, absolutely right! You’re just too kind. Your actions today truly moved me—my very soul was shaken! I’ve decided to follow your example and do more good deeds from now on. You’ll be my role model!"
"Hahaha! Of course, I am. Beautiful and kind-hearted."
Stella Sterling hummed a little tune, her voice cheerful. "Let’s go. Now I’m going to take you to do another good deed."
Andrew Shaw asked curiously, "What good deed?"
"Didn’t you hear them? There’s a gang of villains around here. We’re going to go punish the wicked and help the good."
As she spoke, Stella Sterling stomped on the gas, and the car shot forward, much faster than before.
Andrew Shaw screamed internally. ’I knew it! She didn’t ask for that address for nothing!’
