Chapter 380: Chapter 390: She Is Not a Normal Person
Stella Sterling didn’t say anything more to Andrew Shaw. She just kept driving, and the rest of the trip passed in silence.
Andrew Shaw had no idea what Stella Sterling was really thinking.
’But seeing as she’s still driving onward and not turning back, she probably hasn’t changed her mind.’
He sighed inwardly, over and over.
’My mind is racing. If it really comes to that, how am I supposed to survive this?’
’It seems like the only way is if Stella wins.’
’But that’s easier said than done.’
’Stella is formidable, but that Miles Sanctus is probably no ordinary person either.’
He carefully wracked his brain, trying to recall stories about Miles Sanctus from his past life.
Unfortunately, people only ever talked about how formidable Miles Sanctus was, never *why* he was so formidable.
’And I’ve never met the man myself, never seen him in action, so I have no idea how strong he really is.’
’If he’s powerful but still within the realm of a normal human’s strength, then dealing with him shouldn’t be a problem for someone with Stella’s uncanny abilities.’
’The problem is, after learning someone like Stella exists, I’m starting to suspect there might be others with special abilities, too—I just never found out about them.’
’Could Miles Sanctus be one of them?’
Of course, this was all just speculation. For now, all he could do was hope that Stella could win.
Stella Sterling occasionally glanced at him in the rearview mirror.
In contrast to his anxiety, she was perfectly calm.
Before, she might have had some reservations, but now, she wasn’t worried in the slightest.
The only real complication was the sheer number of people at Miles’s base, which would make things difficult. As for Miles Sanctus himself, she wasn’t at all concerned that he might have some special ability.
She knew, of course, what Andrew Shaw was worried about.
’He’s worried because Miles Sanctus survived so long in the future. He thinks Miles must be incredibly formidable, maybe even possessing uncanny abilities like me.’
’But based on my observations, he doesn’t have any special abilities.’
’He’s just skilled in combat, that’s all.’
’After all, in this apocalypse, people like me are few and far between.’
’Miles Sanctus is certainly formidable among normal people, and now he has the full backing of Sanctyr Base.’
’It’s not surprising he managed to get as far as he did in the future.’
’That’s just the natural progression for a capable person.’
’But I’m not exactly a normal person anymore.’
’Even I never expected to develop to this point after being reborn.’
’This space is more powerful than I ever imagined. It’s a shame my past self never developed its potential.’
’I could only use its simple storage functions.’
’In my past life, I never obtained incredible things like the Human Potential Development Technique, but this life is different.’
’Andrew’s other worry is that since he’s never heard of someone as powerful as me in the future, he assumes I must have died at the hands of Miles Sanctus. That’s why he’s convinced Miles is no ordinary person.’
’But only I know the truth. I wasn’t nearly this powerful in my past life, and I died because of Wyatt Xavier’s betrayal.’
’It’s completely different from what he thinks, so his worries are entirely unfounded.’
’And even in the worst-case scenario, if I really were no match for Miles Sanctus, saving myself would still be a piece of cake.’
’Besides, in my opinion, that’s practically impossible.’
After a few more days, the car arrived near Veridia.
Stella Sterling checked the map to confirm they had reached their destination, then stopped the car.
She planned to rest for the night and head into Veridia the next day.
’This journey took a whole month. I wonder if Black Swan and the others have arrived yet.’
’Even though they left before me, given the state of the roads, they must have been delayed for who knows how long.’
’I’m different, though. When I ran into roadblocks, I could use my space to easily deal with the problem.’
’But Black Swan’s group doesn’t have that ability. When they found an impassable road, their only option was to take a long detour.’
’Just moving the rocks blocking the roads would have cost them a significant amount of time.’
’My original plan was for them to leave first, while I took my time, enjoyed the scenery, and relaxed a bit on the way.’
’By the time I arrived, they should have been there for a while. They could scout out the situation first, and then we’d plan our move after we met up.’
’But looking at how things are now, even though I deliberately slowed down, I still got here faster than them.’
She hadn’t run into Black Swan’s group at all along the way, probably because they had all taken different detours and ended up on completely different routes.
"Let’s get a good night’s rest here. We’ll enter Veridia tomorrow."
Stella Sterling said to Andrew Shaw.
Hearing this, Andrew Shaw immediately sat bolt upright. He sighed and said, "So, is it time? Are we going to fight Miles Sanctus?"
’So soon?’
’I thought we still had some time... I haven’t come up with any sort of plan yet.’
"Not necessarily. My people haven’t arrived yet. So once we’re in Veridia, you don’t need to be so tense. Just pretend we’re here on vacation."
Hearing this, Andrew Shaw breathed a sigh of relief. ’As long as we’re not fighting right away, that’s fine. Looks like I have a few more days to live after all.’
’But a vacation? As if.’
’I’m in no mood for that. Besides, what place hasn’t been ravaged by the apocalypse? Everywhere looks the same. What’s there to see?’
After stopping the car, Stella Sterling opened the door and got out.
The temperature outside had been unbearably high lately. Stepping out felt like walking into a sauna.
The temperature dropped a little at night, making it cooler, but they had to keep driving, so there was never any time to stop.
So, most of the time, Stella Sterling stayed in the car with the air conditioning running.
Aside from getting out for the occasional breath of fresh air, they spent the entire time in the vehicle.
Now, they were almost at Veridia.
She decided to get out and get some air.
The nights weren’t as hot as the days. An occasional breeze would drift by, carrying away the oppressive heat and bringing with it a hint of coolness.
Of course, that was only relative to the daytime.
She took a stool out of her space, followed by a box of ice cubes that she placed beside her to cool off. Then she sat down and admired the beauty of the night sky.
