Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 381 - 391: Reminiscing About the Past

Chapter 381: Chapter 391: Reminiscing About the Past

It had been a long time since she felt so calm. How peaceful it was, just relaxing and gazing up at the stars.

In this moment, her spirits lifted.

Since they weren’t in a rush tonight, she decided she might as well relax properly.

So she brought out a table and arranged some fruit, snacks, and drinks on it.

She rested one hand on the table, occasionally glancing up at the night sky or grabbing a bite to eat. Her drink was placed within easy reach.

Then, she took out the phone she kept in her dimensional space and put on some soft, gentle music.

It really felt a bit like she was on vacation.

Being out here in the wilderness, under the starry sky, had a unique charm.

’If only I could hear the chirping of insects, it would be even more perfect.’

But alas, in this sweltering heat, even the animals were on the verge of dying. Not a single creature could be seen, let alone heard.

The scene suddenly made her think of Gordon Ford.

Back in school, they had watched the stars and the moon together, too.

But her feelings back then were completely different from how she felt now.

Back when she was with Gordon Ford, she had thought a lot about the future, even picturing what their life together would be like.

But then, so, so many things happened. It seemed none of the things she had imagined ever came true.

And back then, she never could have imagined that the future would be this cruel.

A faint smile graced Stella Sterling’s lips at the thought of Gordon Ford.

It had been over a month since they last saw each other.

’I wonder how he’s doing now.’

When she left, he had said he would come find her.

But she had turned him down because she needed to come to Sanctyr Base.

Now that more than a month had passed, she had no idea what he was up to...

Andrew Shaw had been sitting in the car the whole time, enjoying the air conditioning. It was far more comfortable than outside. It was so scorching out there; he had no desire to go out and suffer.

As for his motion sickness, he had gotten so used to being in the car lately that it had gradually gone away. He was cured.

After waiting for a while, he noticed Stella Sterling still hadn’t returned. He was a bit confused; she usually only stepped out for a moment before getting back in.

’What’s going on today?’

He peered through the car window and saw her leaning her head back, a smile on her face.

It was a gentle, serene smile—an expression he had never seen on her before.

He froze, and his heart began to pound. THUMP. THUMP.

"So beautiful!"

he muttered to himself, his gaze growing hazy.

But a moment later, he shook his head, casting the unrealistic ideas from his mind.

’Stella Sterling is gorgeous, no doubt about it!’

’But there’s no way anything could happen between us. She’s beautiful, but she’s also dangerous—completely out of my league.’

’Still, I’ve known her for a while now, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile so happily. I wonder who she’s thinking about?’

He couldn’t help but recall their last conversation. She seemed to have someone she liked—a man named Gordon Ford.

’So is she thinking about Gordon Ford right now?’

He then couldn’t help but recall the things he’d heard in his past life.

Gordon Ford had been obsessively researching a way to go back in time.

’Why? Even after everything he’d been through, why would he want to go back and live through the apocalypse all over again?’

’What was the reason?’

’Could it have something to do with Stella Sterling?’

His gaze fell on Stella, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

After a moment of thought, he opened the car door.

The next moment, he cried out, "Hey, gorgeous! You’ve got all this great food here and you’re keeping it all to yourself? That’s not cool!"

Before, his attention had been entirely on Stella Sterling, so he hadn’t noticed the things in front of her.

But now that he was out of the car, he saw that she was surrounded by blocks of ice, with several wireless fans blowing cool air.

On a night this hot, Andrew Shaw felt a wave of coolness wash over him that was every bit as refreshing as the car’s AC.

And on top of that, her table was laden with so much delicious food.

He never would have seen it if he hadn’t gotten out of the car.

He trotted over.

Stella Sterling merely glanced down at him before letting him be, paying him no further mind.

Andrew Shaw’s attention, however, was now completely captivated by the spread of food before him.

As long as Stella didn’t stop him, he took it as her silent permission to indulge.

So he began to eat his fill.

Admiring the night view, reminiscing about the past—none of that was as important to him as the food right in front of his face.

He had no idea why Stella wasn’t eating all this in the car.

But that didn’t matter. All he knew was that he was in for a treat.

There were so many things here he’d never eaten before.

Eighteen years into the apocalypse, things like these were long extinct.

’Sticking with Stella Sterling was definitely the right choice.’

’For the sake of all this amazing food, that Miles Sanctus has to die. There’s no way I can let him win. If he wins, where am I going to find another meal ticket like Stella?’

After eating and drinking his fill, he was surprised to realize there was music playing in the darkness.

His gaze then fell on Stella’s phone.

"That’s weird. How does your phone still have a charge?"

he exclaimed again.

Stella Sterling shot him a cool glance. "With me, anything is possible."

Fair enough. Andrew Shaw fell silent again. When it came to Stella Sterling, anything really was possible. Nothing seemed strange anymore.

He looked at the chair and table Stella had brought out, his expression turning curious.

’Did she store these in that item-storing thing of hers, too?’

’What on earth does Stella have stored away? It feels like she has everything.’

’It’s not just food and drinks; she has all sorts of tools, too.’

If he wasn’t afraid of making her angry, he really would have asked what else she had prepared.

"Hey, gorgeous, you—"

He was about to speak when a sound broke the silence of the night.

He immediately swallowed his words and looked alertly into the distance.

Stella turned off the music.

With a wave of her hand, everything in front of her vanished back into her dimensional space.

A flash of regret appeared in Andrew Shaw’s eyes; he hadn’t eaten his fill yet.

He then glared resentfully into the distance.

’Who the hell is out here in the middle of the night, interrupting a man’s meal? So rude.’

But despite his thoughts, he grew wary.

The sound of footsteps grew closer and closer.

"That’s odd. I’m sure I heard something over here just now, and what sounded like someone singing. How did it just stop all of a sudden? Don’t tell me they spotted us."

A low whisper from the darkness reached their ears.
