Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 409 - 419: No Reason

Chapter 409: Chapter 419: No Reason

As Stella Sterling finished speaking, Felix Lawrence immediately understood what she meant.

His gaze flickered, but he still looked worried. "Isn’t that too dangerous? Can you handle it on your own?"

"Don’t underestimate me. I’m pretty amazing, you know."

Stella Sterling laughed and clapped Felix Lawrence on the shoulder, her eyes brimming with self-confidence.

Her smile was dazzlingly bold.

For some reason, her expression and confident gaze inspired a strange, powerful sense of trust in Felix Lawrence.

He nodded. "Alright. But you have to promise you’ll be safe. If you need any help at all, you have to tell me!"

’Then again,’ he thought, ’Miss Sterling isn’t the type to recklessly put herself in danger. She wouldn’t do this unless she was confident she could pull it off.’

’She’s not an idiot. Why would she gamble with her own life?!’

’If she were that reckless, Miss Sterling would’ve died long ago in this wasteland. There’s no way she would have survived until now!’

’But not only is she alive and well, she’s become incredibly powerful. A person like that wouldn’t do something she wasn’t sure about, right?’

And so, he chose to trust Stella Sterling.

But he still looked at her earnestly and said, "You have to trust me. I’m not afraid of offending Sanctyr Base. The men I have with me, they’re all of one mind with me. They know about my grudge with Sanctyr Base, but they’ve always stood firmly by my side. We’re not afraid!"

"Even if your people haven’t arrived yet, Miss Sterling, you’re not alone. You have us."

Seeing his earnest expression, Stella Sterling nodded and patted his shoulder. "Don’t you worry. I’m no saint. If there’s a use for you guys, I definitely won’t hesitate to ask."

"Hahaha, I’m glad to hear it."

Felix Lawrence let out a happy laugh. "We might not be able to help with the big stuff," he said, "but we can keep an eye on what’s happening in Veridia. If we hear anything, we’ll let you know right away!"

"Deal."

Stella Sterling nodded, not refusing the offer. ’If I don’t let Felix and his men do anything,’ she thought, ’he’d probably be upset.’

’Besides, I really don’t have anyone else I can use right now. Felix’s men could actually be a big help, especially with gathering intelligence, just like he said.’

’And no matter how powerful I am, I’m still just one person. I can’t be everywhere at once or cover all the bases. Having Felix’s men keep watch for me would certainly save me some trouble.’

Seeing that Stella Sterling didn’t refuse, the smile on Felix Lawrence’s face grew wider.

"Oh, right. Brother Lawrence, have your men keep an eye out for these people for me."

Stella Sterling said to Felix Lawrence, handing him photos of Black Swan and Julian Fletcher.

Felix Lawrence took them and glanced at the photos. Without asking any questions, he simply nodded and agreed.

The two chatted for a while longer. As Stella Sterling spoke with Felix Lawrence, she kept an eye on the situation inside her space.

Seeing that everything inside was just as she had left it, with no changes, she relaxed and continued her conversation with Felix Lawrence.

"By the way, how has my little subordinate been doing these past few days?"

Stella Sterling asked, as if she had just remembered something.

’These past few days, I’ve been resting during the day and wandering around Veridia at night, so I haven’t really paid much attention to Andrew Shaw.’

’Andrew Shaw has seemed busy too, and has rarely been around.’

Hearing her question, Felix Lawrence paused for a moment before answering, "Oh, that little guy? He’s been working really hard, actually. He’s been training constantly and sparring with my men."

Stella Sterling took in this new information about Andrew Shaw. It seemed he wasn’t acting strangely, and more importantly, he showed no signs of wanting to escape.

She was honestly a little surprised.

’After all, Andrew Shaw had always been vehemently against my plan to go to war with Sanctyr Base.’

’It’s probably because he’s from the future and knows just how powerful Miles Sanctus is. That’s why he’s always been so terrified of him.’

’I thought for sure that his fear of Miles Sanctus would make him refuse to side with me. I expected him to run away the first chance he got!’

’But apparently, he hasn’t done that at all.’

’Before, he didn’t run because he was right under my nose. He didn’t have the chance, and he probably didn’t dare to try.’

’But things are different now. Here at Felix’s place, I can’t possibly watch him all the time. On top of that, I’ve been going out frequently and haven’t been around. Logically, if Andrew Shaw wanted to escape and get away from me, this would have been his best opportunity!’

’He could have even found people from Sanctyr Base, defected to their side, and told them all about my plans.’

’By doing so, he would be seen as having performed a great service for Sanctyr Base, and he could use that to secure a firm position there.’

’Of course, I know he can’t actually betray me. He took a Loyal Servant Pill. If he even tried something like that, Andrew Shaw would die on the spot.’

’But Andrew Shaw doesn’t know that.’

’So there’s no reason for him to be tied to my fate. He’s completely free to make other choices.’

But he didn’t. This turn of events was quite unexpected.

She recalled what he had said that day after she brought up Sanctyr Base.

’At the time, I didn’t believe him. After all, the guy’s always been a smooth talker, completely two-faced.’

’And don’t think I don’t know how much he’s been cursing me behind my back all this time!’

’But since he never said any of it to my face, I never bothered to call him out on it.’

’But I’ve always known that deep down, Andrew Shaw is a restless soul. He’s not nearly as afraid or respectful of me as he pretends to be.’

’Most of the time, I only half-believed anything he said.’

But now...

"Miss Sterling? What is it?"

Felix Lawrence called out, a little confused. Ever since they started talking about her subordinate, Stella Sterling’s expression had seemed a bit off.

’Is there a problem?’

Stella Sterling shook her head and smiled at Felix Lawrence. "It’s nothing. I just thought of something."

Just then, the sound of light footsteps approached from outside, followed by a voice calling out, "Hey, beautiful! I’ve got something to tell you! I just got some news..."

Before the words had even fully left his mouth, the owner of the voice appeared before Stella Sterling and Felix Lawrence.

Andrew Shaw strode in, his expression momentarily grave.

But his words, not yet fully spoken, died in his throat when he saw Felix Lawrence was also in the room.
