Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 595: Base Camp

Stella Sterling followed them, using the tracker she had planted on Caleb Xavier.

The other members of Caeluna Base were in a separate vehicle.

Stella Sterling was silent for the entire journey. A continuous stream of Faith Power flowed into her body, strengthening her with every passing moment.

Central Caeluna Base had developed a cure for the last mutation outbreak, a fact that Meridia Base had not concealed.

Many of the survivors were filled with gratitude for Caeluna Base.

Before, they had seen Caeluna Base as just another major power—something to be respected, but nothing more.

But now, many regarded Caeluna Base as a beacon of hope in the apocalypse.

With Meridia Base and Caeluna Base present, it felt as if they had a pillar of support in this desolate world.

As for Stella Sterling, the leader of Caeluna Base, their feelings were a mixture of reverence, adoration, and gratitude.

It was because of this that Faith Power surged into Stella Sterling’s body nearly every day.

Stella Sterling grew increasingly powerful, and this energy also made her personal dimension more stable.

The world within her dimension was now almost indistinguishable from the real world outside.

More and more life-forms were gestating within it, and the very air grew thick with the essence of vitality.

Aside from the absence of any signs of human civilization, the world in her dimension had become a true world in its own right.

And compared to the various disasters plaguing the outside world, her dimension was a peaceful sanctuary, filled with the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers.

And in this world, she was the absolute ruler.

A faint smile touched Stella Sterling’s lips at the thought.

“What are you smiling at? You look happy.”

Gordon Ford looked over at Stella Sterling, one of his hands holding hers.

Stella Sterling was about to speak when a tremendous crash echoed from the sky.

Lightning flashed before their eyes, followed immediately by a torrential downpour.

Stella Sterling was surprised for only a moment before her expression returned to calm.

‘This life is becoming more and more different from my last one. I’m used to it by now.’

‘What worries me is that this life seems far more severe than the last. The disasters are much more frequent and intense.’

‘If this keeps up, the planet won’t be able to withstand it.’

Outside, lightning flashed and thunder roared. Strange, monstrous birds circled low in the sky, while various animals scurried about frantically on the ground.

The car jolted violently and came to a stop, as if it had hit something.

They decided to get out of the car. Just ahead, Caleb Xavier’s group had also stopped. They had reached the destination.

“This place…”

Gordon Ford got out of the car. As he took in the scene before them, he turned to Stella Sterling, a look of confusion on his face. “In our past life, this is the area where I killed Caleb Xavier!”

Stella Sterling was taken aback.

‘Caleb Xavier died here in my last life, and now he’s come back. Does this place hold some special significance…?’

They entered an underground cave.

‘This cave is like a world of its own, completely different from the outside. Why did Caleb Xavier come here? Could this be his main base of operations?’

“Wait, this is…”

Gordon Ford suddenly stopped. His eyes fixed on a corner, he strode over and picked up a backpack. The color drained from his face.

By the time Stella Sterling reached him, Gordon Ford had already opened the pack. His expression darkened further upon seeing its contents.

He looked over at Stella Sterling. “This belongs to Basil Xavier!”

‘I’ve known him for so long; I’d recognize his belongings anywhere. But…’

Hearing this, Stella Sterling’s expression shifted.

Basil Xavier had disappeared not long after Frank Ford went missing. Stella hadn’t seen him since her return.

While searching for news of Gordon Ford, she had also been trying to find information on Basil Xavier, but there had been no leads for a long time.

Now, here in this underground cave, they had found Basil Xavier’s backpack, but he was nowhere to be seen. It likely meant…

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

“I’m sure he’s still alive!” Gordon Ford said firmly.

Stella Sterling nodded. “We’ve only found his bag. Nothing is certain yet. Don’t jump to conclusions.”

Gordon Ford slung Basil Xavier’s bag over his shoulder, and the two of them headed deeper into the cave.

But just then, alarm sirens blared around them. They exchanged a look and halted.

Just then, Caleb Xavier emerged, clapping his hands slowly. “I never thought you’d track me all the way here. Stella Sterling, it seems you came prepared today!”

Asher Xavier and Miles Sanctus appeared as well. In an instant, twenty or thirty Human Body Warriors had surrounded Stella and Gordon.

Despite the situation, Stella Sterling showed no sign of panic. She looked at Caleb Xavier. “Of course I did. We’re old friends having a reunion, after all. If I didn’t send you to your grave, it would be a disservice to our long-standing ‘friendship,’ wouldn’t it?”

Caleb Xavier’s face fell, but he quickly forced a smile. “It’s been years, hasn’t it? You’ve become much more arrogant than before. After the lesson from your past life, shouldn’t you have learned to be more careful? Why are you even more reckless now?”

But when he saw Gordon Ford standing beside Stella Sterling, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes.

He had planned to bring Gordon Ford along, but when he went to get him, the man was gone. Now, seeing Gordon here with Stella Sterling, he didn’t need to think twice to know she was the one who had rescued him.

‘I had no idea Gordon Ford and Stella Sterling knew each other.’

At that moment, memories from his past life surfaced in his mind.

In the beginning, he and Gordon Ford had had no dealings with each other. They each went their own way.

Gordon Ford was a madman, but as long as you didn’t provoke him, he wouldn’t attack without cause.

But later, Gordon Ford began hounding him relentlessly, as if he’d lost his mind.

He acted as if he wouldn’t rest until Caleb was dead.

In the end, Caleb himself had fallen into the man’s trap and was killed by him in this very spot.

He hadn’t understood it back then. But now, seeing Gordon Ford and Stella Sterling together…

It was as if something clicked into place.

‘Could it be that Gordon acted that way because of Stella?’

‘In the last life, Stella died by my hand. Was Gordon trying to avenge her afterward?’

At that moment, Gordon Ford spoke up. “You died in this exact spot before. Now you’ve set up your main base here. Are you hoping to die here a second time?”

Hearing this, Caleb Xavier’s gaze turned icy. “You remember?”

“I’ve always remembered!”

Gordon Ford gave a faint smile.

But at these words, Caleb Xavier lost his composure. His breathing quickened.

‘All this time, I’ve been trying everything to make Gordon remember the past, and it turns out he was just faking it. He completely fooled me!’

‘If I had known, I would have gotten rid of him long ago.’

The tension between them was palpable, ready to snap at any moment.

Just then, another voice cut in. “Caleb Xavier, I’ve brought all my things here. You can let me go now, can’t you?”
