Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 594: Confession

Gordon was genuinely overjoyed. He never imagined Stella Sterling would actually agree.

He had been desperate to tell her how he felt, but he never thought she would say yes.

He had steeled himself for another rejection from Stella Sterling.

After all, he could always tell she had her reservations every time before.

It hurt, but he respected her choices. He was determined to show her that he would always be there, pursuing her, until the day she finally said yes.

He hadn’t intended to be so impulsive this time. He had been preparing for a long, long time, planning to make a proper, grand confession to Stella Sterling once he was fully ready.

But he never expected so much to happen recently. Not only had he regained so many memories, but he had also learned so much more.

The memory of Stella Sterling’s death still made his heart tremble. He refused to believe it was real. ‘Maybe it was just a warning.’

But even so, it left him on edge, afraid that this reality was an illusion, unable to tell which of his memories were true.

So when he saw Stella Sterling again, he just couldn’t hold back. He had to tell her everything on his mind, whether she wanted to hear it or not.

He just never expected her to say yes.

Gordon was overcome with an indescribable excitement.

‘She really does care about me.’

Gordon was hugging her so tightly she could barely breathe. She said with a sigh, “There are so many people watching. Are you sure you want to put on a show for all of them?”

But Gordon was unfazed. “I don’t care about them. I don’t give a damn what anyone else thinks!”

Stella Sterling sized him up. ‘Gordon’s gotten a lot more thick-skinned than before. Is it because of all those new memories?’

‘After all, the Gordon from the past life survived the apocalypse for so many years. His experience and what he’s seen are on a completely different level from the Gordon I knew before. I guess he’d have to be more shameless too!’

Stella Sterling’s expression suddenly changed, as if she’d just thought of something.

Gordon noticed the change at once and asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”

Stella Sterling looked him up and down. “I’m not sure if your situation counts as being reborn, but you lived to be over forty in your past life. Mentally, you’re practically an old man!”

Gordon’s face fell at her words, and he hurriedly explained, “I wasn’t reborn! I just absorbed the memories!”

He then watched her cautiously. “I’m not old. Please don’t hold it against me!”

‘I shouldn’t have told her all that. Stella is only in her twenties, but my memories span decades… She’s not really going to think I’m too old for her, is she?’

Gordon grew anxious and let go of Stella. Seeing his expression, Stella was about to comfort him when he suddenly pulled her back into his arms. “I’m not old! And even if I were, you can’t hold it against me. You just accepted my confession, so, Stella Sterling, you have to be with me for the rest of your life!”

His words were rather domineering, and Stella’s lip twitched. ‘If anyone else dared to speak to me like that, I would’ve already taught them a lesson.’

But considering what he had been through, Stella swallowed her retort. She patted his back. “I was just teasing you. I don’t mind.”

But Gordon said sternly, “Don’t ever joke about that again!”

Just as Stella was about to reply, his voice rang out, tinged with anguish. “Stella Sterling, I’m scared. You don’t understand. In my memories, you were gone for so many years. I spent every single one of those years like a madman. So I’m truly terrified… please, don’t ever joke like that again.”

Stella fell silent for a moment before finally nodding. “Okay.”

Then she gently pushed him away. “Now, you really have to let me go. I’m not used to being stared at by so many people.”

Hearing this, Gordon let her go. “Sorry, I just got too excited.”

Then he asked, “What’s the story between you and Caleb Xavier?”

Stella looked at him but didn’t answer right away.

Seeing her hesitation, Gordon paused. “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it.”

“It’s not that I can’t tell you. I just don’t quite know where to begin.”

Stella Sterling smiled and dismissed the people from Caeluna Base, leaving just the two of them.

‘Since I’ve decided to be with Gordon, and he remembers so much, there’s no need to hide certain things from him.’

So, Stella Sterling told Gordon all about the grudge between her and Caleb Xavier in their past life, and how she had died at his hands.

She didn’t, however, say anything about the space.

After she finished, Gordon was silent for a long time. ‘So, my memories weren’t fake. They were real. It all really happened in our past life.’

‘But Stella is alive now… so she must have been reborn, too. She changed her fate from the past life?’

‘No wonder she was so distant when we met again. To me, we’d only been apart for six months.’

‘But in her world, we had been separated for years. We were practically strangers.’

A wave of fear washed over Gordon, followed by immense relief. He was so lucky they had a second chance. Otherwise, he would have never seen her again.

At that moment, Gordon couldn’t put his feelings into words. It was a mix of lingering fear, heartache, and overwhelming relief.

In the end, he said nothing and simply moved to hug her again, but Stella stopped him. “Not again. Can you give it a rest? It’s getting a little mushy, and besides, this isn’t the time or place for romance.”

“We have other things to deal with right now. Caleb Xavier and his people escaped. To be safe, I think we need to hunt him down and finish him as soon as possible. He’s vicious, insidious, and cunning. Leaving him alive means he’ll always be a threat.”

‘So, Caleb Xavier has to die.’

‘Once he’s dealt with, we can talk about us. There’s no rush for that right now.’

After hearing what Stella said, Gordon could only nod. “Alright. But he’s been reborn too. Dealing with him will be difficult. We need a long-term plan.”

Hearing this, Stella’s lips curled into a smirk. “It’s not that complicated.”

Gordon looked at her, confused. Just as Stella was about to speak, she sensed Yana Larkin stirring in her space, on the verge of waking. With a single thought, she knocked her out again.
