Virtual Idol in the Beast World: Five Clans Fight Over Me

Chapter 412 - 366: Capture That Little Thing and Her Dog

Chapter 412: Chapter 366: Capture That Little Thing and Her Dog

Seventeenth District.

As one of the four Lower District Cities, the Seventeenth District was just as chaotic as any of the others.

Gangs were entrenched here, Mixed Breeds were everywhere, and even the management and environment of the central urban area were abysmal.

With Zone 19 now under military jurisdiction, the 16th District close to the Central District and periodically swept by its security teams, and the Eighteen District near the Sea Area and occasionally cleaned up by the coast guard during their patrols, the Seventeenth District—stuck in the middle—had become the most chaotic of the four Lower District Cities.

Since it wasn’t a frontline zone for fighting Mutant Species, it lacked proper management and oversight. Security personnel were derelict in their duties, and both the anti-air Mutant Species weaponry and the ground-level checkpoint inspections had become mere decorations.

This was especially true after the start of winter. A massive influx of Mixed Breeds and the rampant spread of gangs had left the Seventeenth District helpless. Its leaders could only turn a blind eye, waiting for the higher-ups to send people to deal with it after the spring thaw.

The only marginally effective measure they took was closing most of the entry and exit checkpoints, leaving only one operational on a timed, daily schedule.

But even so, getting through was easy. The rich could bribe their way in, and the poor could climb walls or dig holes. It was tantamount to free entry and exit for all.

Just then, several dark figures completely ignored the automated enemy-recognition weapon systems on the wall. They flew swiftly over the Seventeenth District’s ramparts, vanishing toward the west of the outer district in the blink of an eye.

A staff member on duty at the wall was dozing off. Hearing an anomaly from the recognition device beside him, he groggily opened his eyes and glanced at it. He saw the display flicker for a few seconds before returning to normal, then closed his eyes and went back to sleep.

As night gradually fell, most of the Seventeenth District’s outer areas, aside from the central region, had no electricity. A single glance revealed a sea of darkness. This was one of the district’s methods for curbing the activities of gangs and Mixed Breeds.

However, this measure was laughably ineffective against the Beastmen. As night fell, scattered lights flickered on in the outer district, making it even livelier than it was during the day.

In a small Beast Fighting Arena tucked away in the chaotic back alleys, waves of cheers erupted.

The edge of the fighting ring was packed with Beastmen and Mixed Breeds, their eyes glittering as they stared at the two Mixed Breeds battling on the platform.

Amidst the boisterous scene, a Beastman sat below the stage, tirelessly rewatching a video on his terminal over and over again, completely out of place with the loud, frenzied atmosphere around him.

The faint glow of the terminal illuminated the Beastman’s face and his single, good eye.

One-Eyed Kuinan. He was the one person in this area that the other beasts dared not provoke.

As one of the fighters on the stage collapsed, Kuinan’s subordinate, Wind Blade, leaned down slightly and said, "Boss, he lost."

"Useless trash. Get rid of him. Find another one."

Kuinan’s gaze remained fixed on the "virtual female" in the video, not even blinking.

’What a surprise.’

He froze the video on the last frame, his finger hovering as he traced the young female’s face.

Even after watching the video so many times, Kuinan still couldn’t suppress the violent excitement that surged in his heart whenever he saw that face.

If Biyou Si hadn’t found him and tasked him with tracking a convoy leaving Zone 19, he would have remained in the dark about this little thing.

"Yes."

Wind Blade acknowledged the order. But just as he was about to step onto the stage, several dark figures dropped from the sky, landing one after another on the fighting ring.

Noticing the commotion, Kuinan’s eyes shifted. He shut off his terminal and looked up coldly at the newcomers.

"Who the hell are you! Get lost!"

The Beastman referee on the stage shouted at the members of the Bird Clan, whose faces were obscured in shadow. The Mixed Breed who had just won the last bout, full of fighting spirit and radiating hostility, let out a low growl and charged them. In the next instant, a silver flash seared across everyone’s vision, and the powerful Mixed Breed—a ten-match victor—was decapitated.

THUD—With a dull thud, the surroundings instantly fell silent.

The Beastman referee swallowed hard, not daring to advance or retreat, frozen in place.

Kuinan broke the dead silence with a soft scoff. "Putting on the same show every time you come back. Who are you trying to scare?"

After speaking, he swept his gaze over the Beastmen surrounding the ring and said, "All of you, get lost."

The Beastmen immediately scattered like birds and beasts.

The leading Black-winged Beastman flicked a bead of blood from his silver blade, sheathed it, and flew down to land in front of Kuinan. He tossed a bag of Crystal Stones into his lap. "The 12th District."

Kuinan opened the bag and glanced inside. They were all top-grade Pure Crystal Stones.

He tossed the bag of Crystal Stones to Wind Blade, then slouched lazily back in his chair. He looked at the Black-winged Beastman before him, his tone mocking. "Who was it that sent you lot packing this time?"

As he spoke, his eyes swept over the Black-winged Beastman’s right arm.

The arm was not covered by Silver Armor. On the exposed limb, blood vessels bulged, and crimson veins intertwined with glowing blue patterns. Near the shoulder was a distinct, neat, red mark in the shape of a ring.

Kuinan narrowed his eye.

’His right arm is undergoing some kind of regeneration.’

’Compared to this handful of Crystal Stones, their rapid limb-regeneration technology is what I really want.’

Kuinan studied the Heavenly Beast Clan member’s right arm for a few more moments.

’Judging from that raised, red, circular scar, his arm must have been completely severed by some kind of sharp weapon.’

’To be able to break through his Silver Armor and sever his arm... his opponent was no amateur.’

’The convoy that was nearly scattered by the Mutant Species couldn’t have done it.’

"The 12th District."

The Black-winged Beastman didn’t answer Kuinan’s question, repeating his earlier words in a stilted, mechanical tone.

That slightly strange accent in the common tongue reminded Kuinan of the little thing.

’So they really are from the same family, huh?’

Kuinan’s lips curved into a smirk, his mood brightening.

’That makes things easier.’

’Once I get my hands on her, she’ll be mine.’

"Wait," Kuinan said to the Black-winged Beastman.

The words had barely left his mouth when a silver light flashed in his eye. Before he could react, the sharp edge of a silver blade was pressed against his neck. "Immediately," the Black-winged Beastman said, his face expressionless.

Beside them, the color drained from Wind Blade’s and the others’ faces, and they all drew their guns and aimed them at the attacker.

The instant they drew their weapons, several silver lights flashed. The other members of the Heavenly Beast Clan sliced their guns in half, their movements so fast it sent a chill down the spines of every beast present.

They were clearly all from the Bird Clan, but these Heavenly Beast Clan members were almost a different species entirely. They weren’t like beasts, and they were even less like people.

Kuinan showed no fear at all. He tilted his head, glancing at the gun fragments scattered on the ground. "You’ll have to wait even if you cut my head off. Getting you lot in once already cost us significant manpower and resources. If we move now, our mole in the Military Department will be exposed."

’Last time, I was too hasty,’ he thought. ’I was so eager to get that little thing and her dog back that I underestimated the Military Department’s strength. That’s why I miscalculated.’

’But no one expected her to be a female, not a Mimic Mixed Species.’

’If I had known earlier, how could the Military Department have ever gotten the chance to take her away?’

The Black-winged Beastman stated expressionlessly, "That is... your problem."

Kuinan replied, "Don’t say I didn’t warn you. This time you all came back with your tails between your legs. Next time, you won’t just lose an arm—you’ll lose your damn bird life."

As he finished speaking, the silver blade pressed forward a fraction of an inch, its tip piercing his skin.

A single bead of blood welled up.
