Chapter 379 - 205: Poisoning Senior Level Assassin 2

Chapter 379: Chapter 205: Poisoning, Senior Level Assassin 2

He hastily finished his meal and made a quick getaway.

Ali shook her head helplessly.

’This won’t do. He needs much more teaching and practice!’

After finishing his meal and returning to his room, Lin Mo took out the items he had bought earlier on Adventurer Street—a wide assortment of bottles and jars.

These were all concocted Poisons. Some were of lower quality, while others were slightly better. In total, they had cost Lin Mo over a thousand Gold Coins. Of course, none of them could compare to the vial he had just bought at the auction, but these would be more than enough for practice.

From his Ring of Space, he retrieved the Arrows that had come with his purchase of the Hurricane Bow. He then took out the cheapest Poison and carefully opened the vial.

A pungent odor immediately filled the air.

Low Level Poisons were like this; their toxicity wasn’t particularly potent, but their smell was quite distinct, easily alerting others to their presence.

Lin Mo circulated his Qi and Blood and attempted to use the [Poisoning] Skill.

The next moment, a single drop of the poisonous liquid, enveloped by his Qi and Blood, slowly floated out of the vial and landed on the tip of the Arrow.

The Poison immediately vanished, as if it had completely merged with the arrowhead.

’Pretty convenient.’

Lin Mo carefully examined the Arrow. It didn’t look any different, and the pungent odor seemed to have faded slightly. In reality, however, after being enhanced by the [Poisoning] Skill, the Poison’s toxicity wouldn’t decrease; it would actually be strengthened.

But there was a problem... his Skill Level for [Poisoning] hadn’t increased.

’Do I have to kill an enemy with a poisoned weapon to increase its Skill Level?’

’That doesn’t seem very reasonable, does it?’

Lin Mo frowned. Instead of jumping to conclusions, he continued to use [Poisoning].

One arrow, two arrows, three arrows...

Finally, after ten applications of "Poisoning," a notification floated before his eyes.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +1

’That took some effort. Still, it’s good news that I can raise the Skill Level just by applying the Poison. Based on my experience, I’ll probably also gain Skill Level for it when I kill Demons with these poisoned Arrows later on.’

Having two ways to increase the Skill Level would undoubtedly make leveling this Skill relatively easier.

’So, is the amount of Skill Level gained related to the quality of the Poison?’

Lin Mo switched to a slightly more expensive Poison.

Once, twice, three times...

This time, a notification appeared after only five applications.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +1!

The Skill Level gained was related to the Poison’s quality. This confirmed Lin Mo’s suspicion.

He still had a better one.

Once, twice.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +1!

This particular vial of Poison was the highest quality one sold on Adventurer Street.

The Skill Level gain made that clear; it only took two applications to gain one point.

For Lin Mo, however, this kind of Poison was of limited use.

At best, it was only effective against Demons that had just reached Senior Level—around Level 5 or Level 6—by impairing their movements for a short period. Against stronger monsters with more Qi and Blood, its effects diminished rapidly.

Against Level 8 or Level 9 Demons, it only had a minor disruptive effect, making it largely useless.

Moreover, this Poison wasn’t cheap, costing a hefty 400 Gold Coins per vial!

One vial was enough for about ten applications, meaning each use cost a staggering 40 Gold Coins!

Even just for grinding Skill Level, it seemed more cost-effective to buy the cheaper Poisons.

After all, Lin Mo’s primary method for leveling Skills was grinding monsters. The gains from simply using a Skill were relatively modest, so for him, it was just a small bonus.

As for the vial of Poison he had spent over two thousand Gold Coins on, he certainly wasn’t going to use it on Ordinary Arrows.

When Lin Mo had been on Adventurer Street earlier, he had specifically bought some better Arrows as well.

For a Ranger Professional, improving one’s strength through equipment wasn’t just about the bow or Crossbow; the quality of one’s Arrows was another crucial factor.

This gave them an advantage over the Warrior and Knight Professions. Therefore, among the Physical System Professions, when it came to damage output, Assassins and Rangers were undoubtedly the most Excellent.

The Assassin’s burst damage was considerable, but for sustained damage, the Ranger was undoubtedly supreme.

You could say that in an Adventurer Squad where everyone was around the same Level, if there was no Mage, the Ranger was often the key to their damage output.

High damage output combined with the advantage of range made them a core part of any team.

However, if there was a Mage, it was a different story entirely.

A Mage’s damage output was higher than a Ranger’s, and they possessed wide area-of-effect damaging Skills. A Mage with a comprehensive set of Magic was even better at self-preservation and offered more utility than a Ranger. Except when facing enemies with resistance to a specific Element, a Mage was practically a complete upgrade over a Ranger.

But to get back on topic, the Ranger Profession had two main types of special Arrows.

The first type was the Elemental Arrow. These Arrows were given an Elemental Attribute through an Alchemist’s Enchantment. When paired with a bow enhanced with the corresponding Element, they could produce exceptionally powerful effects.

But this type of Arrow wasn’t suitable for Lin Mo.
