Chapter 380 - 205: Poisoning Senior Level Assassin (3)

Chapter 380: Chapter 205: Poisoning, Senior Level Assassin (3)

Elemental Arrows that have an Elemental Enchantment cannot be poisoned.

Otherwise, the inherent Elemental Attribute would conflict with the poison, neutralizing each other’s effects.

The second type of special arrow was the reinforced variety, crafted from the materials of Demons, metals, or plants.

These arrows were characterized by being much sturdier and more powerful. Some could even increase an arrow’s flight speed and piercing power.

This was the type of arrow Lin Mo chose to buy.

He bought a total of 10 special arrows. Nine of them were crafted from the bones of Elite Level Demons, and the last one was a Bone Arrow made from the bones of a Lord Level Demon, its value astonishing.

These arrows cost him another few hundred Gold Coins.

This just went to show that if a Ranger wanted to pursue a high-end build, it was arguably the most expensive of all the Physical Professions.

Of course, the average Ranger Professional wouldn’t dream of spending money on so many high-quality items the way Lin Mo did.

Most made do with ordinary arrows. On the rare occasion they earned some money, they might buy one or two special arrows, but these were treated as trump cards, too precious to use. They would only be brought out in a life-or-death crisis.

Lin Mo first took out one of the special arrows made from the bones of an Elite Level Demon. Then, from his Ring of Space, he retrieved the vial of poison worth over two thousand Gold Coins and used the Poisoning skill, carefully applying a single drop to the arrowhead.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +5!

’So much?!’

Lin Mo was stunned. ’You really get what you pay for,’ he thought. A single application of this poison yielded 5 Skill Level points.

With the experiment more or less complete, Lin Mo decided not to use any more of the expensive poison for now. Instead, he took out the more common poisons and ordinary arrows he had and began the mechanical, repetitive work of applying Poisoning.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +1

[Poisoning] Skill Level +1

...

After busying himself for the better part of the afternoon, he finally used up all the poison he had bought. He had coated four to five hundred arrows in total, gaining over eighty Skill Level points in the process.

And with that, the [Poisoning] skill rose to Level 4.

"Skill [Poisoning] Lv1 (10/10) has leveled up!"

"Skill [Poisoning] Lv2 (20/20) has leveled up!"

"Skill [Poisoning] Lv3 (40/40) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill: [Poisoning] Lv4 (18/100)"

"Received attribute points: Agility +3!"

As a skill of the Assassin Profession, reaching Level 4 also provided 3 points to his Basic Agility Attribute.

This also meant that Lin Mo’s Assassin Profession was finally about to advance to Level 6, reaching the Senior Tier!

However, Lin Mo didn’t rush to check the advancement information. Instead, he first examined the effects of Level 4 [Poisoning].

[Poisoning] Lv4: Quickly apply poison to a weapon, increasing toxin effect by 18%.

This was the skill’s base effect. In addition, there was an extra bonus from its Evolutionary Path. And now that it had reached Level 4, he could choose a second Evolutionary Path.

Please select an Evolutionary Direction—

Evolutionary Path 1: Toxin Enhancement II: Increases the toxin amplification of Poisoning by an additional 15%!

Evolutionary Path 2: Rapid Poisoning I: Increases Poisoning speed by 50%!

As before, Evolutionary Path 2’s Rapid Poisoning was meaningless to Lin Mo, so without a moment’s hesitation, he chose Evolutionary Path 1 again.

Eighteen percent plus fifteen percent, for a total increase of 33% to the toxin’s effect—almost one-third!

At this point, it would be difficult to continue leveling up [Poisoning]. Even if he did, the bonus from each additional level would only be 1%, which was practically negligible.

Only then did Lin Mo take out the most expensive vial of poison again, retrieve the remaining nine special arrows, and apply poison to them one by one.

[Poisoning] Skill Level +5

[Poisoning] Skill Level +5

...

Even the special arrow made from the bones of the Lord Level Demon yielded the same 5 Skill Level points. This proved that the Skill Level gained from Poisoning was unrelated to the weapon it was applied to.

And now, it was time for the main event!

With a surge of excitement, Lin Mo turned his attention to the notification he had momentarily ignored.

"Advancement conditions met. Professional Assassin (Lv5) has advanced—Current Profession: Professional Assassin (Lv6)."

"Received Professional Attribute Amplification: Strength +3, Agility +5, Constitution +2, Spirit +2!"

Advancing from Entry Level to Senior Level once again granted a total of 12 attribute points.

In addition, his Class Skills had also been upgraded.

"Your Assassin Class Skill—Assassin’s Heart—has been upgraded!"

[Assassin’s Heart] Lv2: Like a viper lurking in the shadows, an Assassin always pursues the single, decisive strike. An Assassin needs no defense, only the ultimate offense to pierce any iron wall!

Skill Effect: Increases melee attack damage by 20%!

The Assassin Profession’s Class Skill was quite useful. Since it increased melee attack damage, Lin Mo could benefit from this bonus even when using some of his Warrior Profession skills, such as [Continuous Thrust] and [Rapid Charge Fist].

However, Sword Qi attacks like [Phantom Sword Dance] and [Blood Qi Blade] would not receive the bonus.

Advancing to the Senior Tier also granted a new Class Mark.

"Congratulations on becoming a Senior Level Assassin. Your understanding of assassination has deepened. Your Professional Level has increased. You have obtained the Class Mark—Senior: Increases attack speed by 10% (this includes skills that augment attacks)!"

This was easy enough to understand. "Skills that augment attacks" referred to abilities like [Bone-Piercing Heavy Stab], which were fundamentally attacks, just enhanced by a skill. These would also benefit from the 10% attack speed bonus.
