Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 449 - 417: Cultivation and Archaeology

Chapter 449: Chapter 417: Cultivation and Archaeology

After wandering around the second stone chamber and still finding nothing, Li Qian felt no rush. He patiently committed everything to memory. If Bai Bingbing hadn’t made it clear that taking photos without permission was forbidden, he would have simply taken pictures to document it all.

Fortunately, after receiving feedback from several evolutions, Li Qian’s current physical condition was quite remarkable, and his memory was exceptional. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to memorize much at all.

Memorizing this information might seem useless now, but if it related to a relevant evolution in the future, it would directly convert into Inspiration Value.

This was the kind of resource that could build up his foundation. How could Li Qian possibly pass it up?

He wished he had two heads to memorize all this information, but a person’s brain isn’t a machine, after all; it’s impossible to imprint everything perfectly.

After one last look around to commit everything to memory, Li Qian wasted no more time and strode out of the second stone chamber.

Returning to the Earth Palace, the trio didn’t linger and entered the last stone chamber.

The moment he entered, Li Qian couldn’t help but shake his head. It looked as if a battle had taken place in this chamber; both the statues and the stone murals were almost completely destroyed, with very few intact pieces remaining.

’What a shame...’ After a quick look around confirmed there was nothing to record, Li Qian sighed with a hint of regret.

Back in the main hall of the Earth Palace, he scanned his surroundings one more time. Still no Inspiration Value prompts were triggered, so Li Qian decided not to waste any more time.

He looked at Irina and Bai Bingbing. "Let’s head back. I’ve seen everything here."

"Did you find anything useful?" Irina asked, her curiosity piqued.

She knew Li Qian was a genius Breeder, but she didn’t quite understand the specifics of how he researched Pet Beast evolution.

Li Qian nodded. "I did make some progress..." he replied as they started walking back.

"So did you figure out the evolution method for the Six-tailed Cat?" Bai Bingbing asked, also interested.

Beside them, Irina’s expression grew odd. She shot Bai Bingbing a sideways glance, thinking the girl was a little naive.

’Pet Beast research isn’t that easy. Just look at all the Breeders at the university. Every one of them researches slowly, deliberates carefully, and experiments step-by-step before finally getting results.’

’For someone like Li Qian to just wander around a bit, get a flash of inspiration, and figure out an evolution method for a Pet Beast... in her opinion, that was basically impossible.’

’So, she thought this Bai Bingbing girl was a bit naive, and maybe a little prone to hero worship.’

She was very curious how Li Qian would answer. ’Will he boast right in front of me just to save face?’

As Irina watched with curiosity, Li Qian spoke, his words catching her slightly by surprise. "Pretty much."

"You figured out the evolution method from a Five-tailed Cat to a Six-tailed Cat?" Irina suspected Li Qian might be bluffing, but on second thought, that didn’t seem like his style. So, she pressed for confirmation.

Li Qian looked at Irina and nodded. "Yes. It’s not quite complete yet, but it’s nothing major."

"Then can you perform an evolution for us to see?" Irina pressed, looking at Li Qian.

Li Qian glanced at his senior, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. He couldn’t understand why this girl, who was usually so sparing with her words, was suddenly acting as inquisitive as a child.

After a moment’s thought, he nodded. "I can, but I’ll need to go visit Teacher Liang. The evolution will require her assistance."

"You need Teacher Liang’s help?" Li Qian’s words drew Bai Bingbing’s attention as well.

Ignoring the two women’s questions, Li Qian strode straight out of the Earth Palace.

After leaving the Earth Palace and exiting the Stone Tower, Li Qian scanned the area and soon spotted a familiar figure just outside a roped-off cordon.

A group of young people, who looked like students, were gathered around the cordon, watching.

It seemed Teacher Liang was giving the students an impromptu lesson. Judging by their expressions, they were listening quite intently.

Seeing this, Bai Bingbing immediately hurried over. An on-site lecture from Teacher Liang at an archaeological dig was a rare opportunity. She couldn’t miss this chance.

Watching Bai Bingbing eagerly run over to listen, Li Qian’s interest was piqued, and he followed.

Irina, however, remained where she was, unmoving. She clearly didn’t want to go over, perhaps afraid it would look like she was eavesdropping.

Li Qian, on the other hand, didn’t care at all.

’I’m a student at Shazhou Beast Taming University, after all. Meeting Teacher Liang here is a fortunate coincidence. I’ll just treat it as an open lecture.’

Teacher Liang’s voice wasn’t loud, but to Li Qian’s ears, it was exceptionally clear.

"...Class, as I’ve mentioned before, these ruins in Luoying City are from the Fourth Epoch, also known as the Epoch of the Rong People. Look at the surrounding architecture. This type of conical roof, resembling a rhinoceros horn, is a typical characteristic of Rong People ruins..."

Teacher Liang explained in detail, covering many points of knowledge related to the ruins of the Rong People.

If it hadn’t been for Bai Bingbing’s earlier explanation, Li Qian would have been completely lost.

As it was, he was able to absorb some of the information and felt he had gained something.

As he listened, Li Qian suddenly noticed something was off.

It felt like a sharp gaze was fixed on him.

Following a subtle intuition, Li Qian glanced over. In the next moment, he spotted a figure in the crowd hastily turning away.

He frowned in thought for a moment and quickly recalled the person’s identity.

It was that student from Teacher Huang’s team—Liuqing Garden.

He was also listening to Teacher Liang’s lecture.

Li Qian was a bit puzzled, but he quickly figured it out. This kind of archaeological dig was likely a practical learning opportunity, which was why so many students were present.

Earlier, Bai Bingbing had mentioned that a Teacher Yang had said the fruit similar to the Snake-Eyed Tree Fruit was called Jade Spirit Eyes.

’He must have given a similar open lecture.’

Now that he understood what was going on... ’So it was Liuqing Garden staring at me just now.’ A look of exasperation crossed Li Qian’s face.

’What is this nonsense!’

’There’s nothing going on between me and Bai Bingbing, no ties at all. Why treat me like a love rival?’

With a wry, helpless smile, Li Qian looked away, deciding not to pay any more attention to the buffoon.

Yes, in Li Qian’s eyes, Liuqing Garden was nothing more than a buffoon.

He wasn’t worth paying attention to.

He went back to listening intently to Teacher Liang’s lecture, trying his best to absorb all the information.

This experience made it clear to Li Qian that if he were to continue his in-depth research into Breeding, it would inevitably intersect with archaeology. Far too many unique evolution methods lay buried in the dust of history.

He might not need to achieve Mastery, but he definitely had to be familiar with the subject.
