Chapter 821: Chapter 550: The Hill Giants’ New Home
Behind him, over nine hundred Hill Giants let out wave after wave of joyful roars. The deafening sound echoed through the ring-shaped valley, lingering endlessly in the air.
Raylo, riding Lightning, slowly descended from the sky and landed beside Kado.
"Are you satisfied, Kado?"
"Very satisfied! My Lord, you’ve found the best home for us!" Kado turned to Raylo and pressed his right fist against his chest in an ancient, solemn gesture. "The Hill Giant Race will forever remember your kindness."
"We are allies," Raylo said with a faint smile. "This place is also a part of the Black Stone Territory."
To some extent, this was an expansion of the Black Stone Territory’s borders. With these Hill Giants settling here, a vast region in the central Black Stone Mountain Range had been brought under Raylo’s control.
He didn’t say much else and simply clapped his hands. "Coal Ball!"
"ROAR!"
Coal Ball leaped into the air. Its body suddenly expanded, reverting to its Space Giant Dragon form. It opened its massive maw and spat forcefully toward the clearing in the center of the valley.
HUM!
The space twisted. The next second, a mountain of supplies poured out of the distorted space like a flash flood!
Bundles of roughly processed, dozens-of-meters-long giant logs fell, crashing to the ground with dull, heavy THUDS.
Rolls of massive tarpaulins.
Mountain-like piles of smoked meat, along with countless sacks of rye and potatoes.
There were also various tools, as well as pots and pans specially made for the Giants...
In just a few minutes, a "small mountain" made of massive amounts of supplies appeared in the clearing at the center of the valley.
Everyone was dumbfounded. Ed and his Knights were fine, having witnessed Coal Ball’s "storage capacity" before. But the Hill Giants, seeing this for the first time, stared at the scene with their mouths agape, their eyes filled with utter shock.
Raylo glanced at Ed. Understanding perfectly, Ed immediately stepped forward and shouted his orders.
"Everyone! Follow the predetermined plan and start setting up the camp!
"Engineering Teams One and Two, assist the Giants in pitching the tents!
"Logistics Team, inventory the supplies and fire up the stoves! Everyone, we eat in an hour! Tonight’s dinner includes an extra portion of roasted meat!"
The crowd erupted in a cheer louder than any before.
The Hill Giants didn’t need any tools. With a flex of their arms, they effortlessly lifted giant logs weighing several tons and planted them into the pre-planned foundations, right into the shallow pits dug out earlier by the human workers. A few Giants working together could unfold a massive tarpaulin and drape it over the wooden frame, completing a simple tent spacious enough to house dozens of resting Giants.
Meanwhile, the human workers utilized their intelligence and dexterity. They used pulleys and ropes to hoist more delicate building materials to higher points.
The cooks busied themselves in front of massive marching cauldrons. They chopped up the tenderest parts of that unfortunate Abyssal Earth Worm and stewed it with potatoes and carrots. A rich, meaty aroma soon drifted through the entire valley.
High up in the sky, Silver Moon Blade coiled atop the highest mountain peak. Its thousand-meter-long body shimmered with a holy radiance under the setting sun, its pale gold dragon eyes quietly overlooking the bustling scene in the valley below.
The humans scurried about like busy ants.
The Giants reshaped the terrain with their most primal Power.
These two entirely different forms of life were now working together in strange harmony to build a new home.
It was noisy, yet brimming with vitality. It seemed chaotic, yet everything was perfectly orderly.
It looked at the human standing in the center of the valley, directing everything. That "Guardian" chosen by Her Highness Princess.
He seemed to possess a peculiar Magic Power, capable of uniting different races and forms of life to strive for the same goal. Perhaps... entrusting Her Highness Princess to him wasn’t a mistake after all.
Night fell.
Hundreds of bonfires were lit in the valley, looking like Stars scattered across the earth. The Giants gathered around the largest bonfires, tearing into roasted meat with huge bites and chugging ale from wooden cups the size of water buckets.
The human camp was equally filled with laughter and cheerful chatter. Raylo, holding a cup of wine, walked over to Kado, who was sitting alone by the river.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Thinking about my people," Kado said, his voice low as he kept his gaze forward. "When the Great Elder arranged for our migration, everyone was worried about the future of our tribe. But now, seeing everyone smiling so happily, I finally feel at ease."
He turned his head, his rock-like face looking incredibly solemn in the firelight. "My Lord, I don’t know the Great Elder’s intentions in orchestrating this great migration, but I believe he must have foreseen something to make such a decision."
"Kado, take good care of your people. I believe we all have a beautiful future ahead of us." Raylo clinked cups with him and downed his wine in one gulp.
Several days later.
The morning sun coated the Valley of the Giant’s Sleep in a warm, golden layer. The once-empty basin had undergone a drastic transformation.
Over a hundred massive tents had sprung up from the ground like grey mushrooms sprouting on a grassland. Those were the temporary dwellings of the Hill Giants. On the other side, thousands of small tents used by the human workers were dotted across the landscape, neat and tidy, with cooking smoke curling up into the air.
"Today’s goal is to finish digging all the foundations for the camp!
"Canteen Number One is serving meat porridge and toasted bread for breakfast. All workers, take turns to eat!"
The human craftsmen were in charge of the more precise tasks. They pulled string lines, took measurements, mixed cement, and laid down a simple drainage system.
At a distant construction site, two Giants carried massive logs to erect a frame. Immediately, over a dozen human workers swarmed up, using ropes and pulleys to secure the smaller pieces of timber and tarpaulins.
The cooperation between the two sides sparked a wonderful chemical reaction, resulting in astonishingly high efficiency.
Raylo stood on a small hill, his lips curling up involuntarily as he overlooked the bustling scene. He patted Lightning’s head beside him.
"Let’s go. Take me up into the sky for a look."
"ROAR!"
Lightning responded, and its body swelled against the wind. With a flash of blue light, a majestic Thunder Dragon over a hundred meters long appeared on the hill. Arcs of electricity coiled around its slender Dragon Horns.
Raylo picked up the playful Moonlight and Coal Ball by his feet and leaped up, landing firmly on Lightning’s broad back.
"Up we go!"
Accompanied by a resonant dragon roar, Lightning flapped its wings, stirring up a gale as it soared into the sky.
Lightning circled above the valley. Looking down from high above, the entire layout of the Valley of the Giant’s Sleep was clear at a glance. The residential area, the water source, the future farmland, and the rudimentary outer defensive structures were all clearly delineated.
Just then, Raylo noticed a black line wriggling on the eastern horizon.
No, it wasn’t a line. It was... a tide! A black tide formed by thousands of Magical Beasts!
RUMBLE...
A delayed tremor traveled up from deep within the earth, sounding like the beating of muffled drums. On the ground, everyone stopped their work and stared toward the east in sheer astonishment.
The black tide surged toward the valley at an alarming speed, kicking up a cloud of dust that blotted out the sun. The roars of countless Magical Beasts merged, forming a soul-shaking shockwave of sound.
Demon Wolves, Demon Rhinoceroses, Giant Lizards...
Tens of thousands of Magical Beasts were mixed together, stampeding madly forward.
This was a standard mid-scale beast horde! It was enough to easily trample a city without walls flat!
The Giants and humans below also spotted the sudden appearance of the Magical Beast horde and began preparing their defenses.
The beast horde drew closer and closer.
Five kilometers...
Three kilometers...
One kilometer...
They could even smell the foul stench wafting from the maws of the Magical Beasts. The earth was Wailing beneath their iron hooves.
Just as the front line of the Magical Beasts was less than five hundred meters away from Raylo, the entire beast horde eerily ground to a halt several hundred meters outside the valley entrance. They anxiously pawed at the ground and growled lowly, yet not a single Magical Beast dared to cross the boundary.
Right then, the beast horde slowly parted to both sides, making way for a path.
A hunched figure, leaning on a Magic Staff made of white bone, slowly walked out from the horde. He wore a tattered black Mage Robe. Beneath the hood, a wrinkled Kobold face was revealed, his cloudy eyes glinting with cunning.
A powerful aura emanated from his body.
Domain Level!
Another Domain Level Powerhouse!
A Dogman Wizard!
He walked straight toward Raylo, stopping ten meters away. Then, under the shocked gazes of everyone present, he dropped to one knee in an extremely humble posture.
He lowered his head and spoke respectfully.
"Respected Lord of the Black Stone Territory.
"Under the command of Lord Black King, I, the Chief Wizard ’Bone Speaker’ Bach, have come on Lord Black King’s orders to deliver food ingredients to you—totaling over five thousand Magical Beasts.
"Please... accept them."
