Lord: I Grind EXP with Warband Panel

Chapter 506 - 240: The 52 000 Cap

Chapter 506: Chapter 240: The 52,000 Cap

Robson wasn’t in the mood for that right now. Even if he were, there was nothing he could do.

This was, after all, a traditional, patriarchal, feudal society, and Valentino was the very picture of a proper lady raised within it. For the past two months, they had been living together in his campaign tent. Robson had hinted at intimacy a few times, but whenever he brought it up, Valentino reacted like a startled lioness.

It wasn’t that her reaction was hostile. The moment he brought it up, she would dive under the covers, wrap herself up tightly, and refuse to emerge until the next morning. It was hard to imagine that the usually dignified Countess Valentino could have such an adorable side.

Robson felt that if he could just manage to soothe this little lioness, he could probably sleep with her. But there was no need to rush things.

Having spent so much time together, he knew Valentino was a very traditional person, leaning toward perfectionism.

Since Valentino wanted a proper, traditional wedding, Robson was more than willing to wait.

In any case, he wouldn’t have to wait long. Their wedding would likely happen soon. With the end of the Beastmen War, the powers within the Frank Kingdom were bound to undergo a major reshuffling.

At that point, the Marquis would surely press them to marry.

In this feudal society, they were certainly old enough.

It might even happen sooner. After all, Robson had heard that King Louis III was in poor health.

While the Frank Kingdom didn’t have a tradition of the entire nation going into mourning, sending out wedding invitations during a king’s funeral would be quite presumptuous.

Robson said nothing more and shifted back a little, making room for Valentino to sit beside him.

The Countess moved a little closer, looking at Robson with curiosity.

The Fengman Clan’s last Legendary had sacrificed himself to cover the Fengman Knight Order’s retreat, creating a generational gap in power.

As a top student from King’s College, Valentino was bursting with questions.

However, seeing the serious expression on her beloved’s face, Valentino guessed that Robson’s advancement wasn’t yet complete and decided not to disturb him.

And she was right.

Robson was still immersed in his breakthrough to the Legendary tier.

As the saying goes, each major tier is a threshold. The leap from an ordinary Extraordinary to a Legendary was a chasm, a trial of epic proportions.

According to the books, the most important part of becoming Legendary was achieving an epiphany.

An epiphany about the power of laws—or something of that nature—which would then trigger a monumental leap in personal strength.

Robson had no idea what the Mount & Blade panel truly was. He obviously hadn’t followed the normal process, yet the profound epiphany of the Legendary tier was not diminished in the slightest.

As he gazed at the burning Tiger Race Royal City, then at the army arrayed in formation behind him, a wave of both heroic grandeur and profound sorrow washed over Robson...

The burning Royal City brought to mind the Centaur King City—and not just that, but so many others... Sunset Fortress, Qimo Fortress, Thermopylae. Scenes from past wars flashed before his mind’s eye, once hazy memories now rendered with stunning clarity. Robson replayed them again and again.

As his thoughts drifted, his gaze fell upon the legions behind him. ’Time flies,’ he mused. ’A year and a half ago, Baron Otto prepared three hundred Warriors for me. How many of them are left now?’

The more he dwelled on these things, the clearer the insight became, but the moment his focus wavered, it would turn hazy once more.

Robson knew this was a normal part of ascending to the Legendary tier.

An Extraordinary on the verge of becoming Legendary begins to grasp the underlying laws of existence. Their Aura doesn’t increase in quantity, but its purity is refined to an extreme degree. The Dantian transforms from a mere storage vessel for Aura into a furnace that actively produces it.

The process of ascending to the Legendary tier was, in essence, the process of comprehending these laws.

After an unknown period of contemplation, Robson’s thoughts turned to the Mount & Blade panel. The higher his level grew, the more miraculous this thing seemed.

’What in the world is this thing?’ he wondered. ’How can it raise my tier? I’ve read countless books, but I’ve never heard of a treasure this powerful.’

’Could it be that these epiphanies were mine to begin with, merely unlocked by the Mount & Blade panel?’ At this point, his train of thought came to a halt.

At this moment, the Aura in Robson’s body began to stabilize, and the seedling of life within his Dantian underwent a tremendous transformation.

If his Dantian had once contained a mere seedling of life, it now housed a true Tree of Life. The tree radiated an overwhelming life force and began to continuously emit a vibrant stream of Aura.

Robson thought of the Legendary he had encountered at the Centaur King City.

’No wonder those at the Legendary tier can fight for so long.’

In a way, this meant that as long as their Aura expenditure didn’t outpace its generation, a Legendary effectively had an infinite supply.

Of course, this was of little significance to Robson. He rarely charged into battle personally, and his presence on the front lines was reserved for critical battles like the one for the Tiger Race Royal City.

For Robson, the most important benefit of reaching the Legendary tier was still the Mount & Blade panel.

Robson looked at his Mount & Blade panel.

"[Host: Robson Odogin (Legendary First Tier Knight 0/1,000,000) (Frank Court Count, Viscount Affleck, Knight Hanfley...)]"

HISS...

Looking at the Mount & Blade panel, Robson couldn’t help but feel a jolt of shock.

First, advancing from Legendary First Tier required a staggering one million experience points! That was enough experience to take someone from a mere mortal all the way to the Legendary tier.

But on second thought, it made sense. After reaching the Legendary tier, every step forward was a monumental effort. The great clans of the world might be able to nurture one or two Legendaries, but figures at the Legendary Second Tier or Third Tier were assets on a national scale. This just showed how difficult advancement was at this level.

Second, even though he was now at the Legendary First Tier, the Mount & Blade panel could still help him advance further.

And while the experience requirement was huge, the Mount & Blade panel had another ridiculously overpowered feature.

Robson didn’t have to lead the troops himself. As long as his subordinates were leading soldiers from the Mount & Blade panel, Lord Robson would still get a cut of the experience.

Once his power base expanded and he had more men under his command, gathering a million experience points was still within the realm of possibility.

But that was all in the distant future. Robson turned his attention back to the Mount & Blade panel.

What he was actually most concerned about was the change to his army size limit after reaching the Legendary tier.

As he expected, it had doubled to 52,000.

’Does that mean it will be a hundred thousand by the time I reach Legendary Second Tier?’

Robson barely dared to imagine it. If he could train all his troops to be elites, an army of 52,000 would be enough for him to dominate the Frank Kingdom. Disregarding foreign powers, it might even be enough to unseat the royal family.

Of course, for Robson, the limiting factor in training elite human troops had never been the army size cap on his panel.

Still, under the current circumstances, it was a massive help.

Even if he couldn’t gather enough elite humans, weren’t Gnolls easy to come by in droves?

It was time to change his plans for the steppes.
