Chapter 954: What to do?

Alexander wandered through the streets of Las Vegas along with Olivia. They were taking a walk, digesting some of the food in their stomach to make room for desert.

The two were practically on a date, one which Alexander was barely able to handle.

Festul had already laughed at him for being so nervous throughout the entire ordeal.

He had trained under a Spirit knight, Fought a Fragment of Thunder Giant, as well as best his own shadow... And here he was, afraid of a date.

Nevertheless, it went better than expected, with Olivia taking the lead. Although a slight blow to Alexander’s pride, it was manageable.

Olivia had been here before, on a trip with her parents. She was familiar with the place, somewhat. They had gone to a casino to play some slot machines, before realising their luck was bad.

Alexander’s mostly... Olivia was average, while Alexander’s luck was so bad nothing he tried worked, and he had to end it due to getting a call from Maxwell.

He had been yelled at, right in the middle of his date. But he was thankful for it, lest he would have emptied his entire savings trying to impress his date.

As they walked through the city streets, Festul complained, resting deep inside his soul.

[Why is everything so bright? Does the average human need the damn sun to see at night?]

He chuckled a bit, but had to admit, Festul was right in some sense. The city was bright, really bright. Many of the lights seemed to be magical artifacts, and as Alexander wished to figure out their purpose, Olivia called out to him.

"You know, Alex, it was kind of a surprise..."

Alexander looked towards her, tilting his head, he asked.

"What was?"

"That you were totally uninterested in the Awakened Duels and Monster fights."

Alexander didn’t respond for a moment, recalling when Olivia had dragged him to watch the two events. He hadn’t found them entertaining at all.

But then again, could he be blamed? Alexander was used to fighting monsters above his own level, and many more. He had trained under the sword saint himself, and his battle experience was immense, to say the least.

Alexander had grown to a point where he thought about every move, and the next few moves after it, along with variables. He hated the way Awakened fighters fought in those duels, using stupid movements for the crowd, and many more.

Awakened their level had resorted to become fighters simply because they were weak. They could not handle the threat of monsters or steadily advance through the ranks, and thus resorted to fights to make ends meet.

They were a little pathetic in Alexander’s eyes, mainly because they stopped trying to advance. He couldn’t understand that. Fighting other awakened was alright in his book, as long as somebody didn’t do stupid movements with no real purpose.

Monster fights, on the other hand, were even more boring. He had fought scarier beasts on Terra Damnum.

Also, hardly any monster could faze him after his encounter with Kizmal, his own shadow, and Shilam.

Speaking of his own Shadow, Alexander turned to look at it, drawing a weird gaze from Olivia. Alexander’s shadow was meek, and shy, the complete opposite of Alan’s, which was an active bastard.

His shadow was maybe the most useless part of the entire expedition, simply because it did nothing.

He had heard how easily Alan and Kazikato controlled their shadows, the latter being a damn master at it, and he was slightly jealous... He struggled to control his shadow, or even learn of the special abilities it had.

Nevertheless, he ignored I, and answered.

"I just... don’t get any thrill from them."

"Why is that?"

Olivia inquired, slightly confused. Alexander scratched his chin, unaware of how to respond for a brief moment.

After thinking about it for a while, he relented, and sighed.

"They are just... Weak, you know? I get bored watching those amateurs pretend they can fight well, and honestly, after Kizmal, no monster really gets me going."

"..."

Olivia nodded, but said nothing. Humming a tune as she continued her stride. Alexander was slightly taken a back, thinking she would have said something.

In his eyes, he didn’t understand what Olivia saw in the Awakened Duels or Monster brawls.

What did she hope to gain from them? To him, it was strange, especially so after he recounted the expedition.

After the fragment of Kizmal, and the brutal training they had undergone to have a chance at it, he found it strange that Olivia still liked the more mundane things of Earth. He couldn’t wrap his fingers around it, but then again, he wasn’t stupid, nor curious enough to ask.

Just spending time with her like this was enough, he liked this quite a lot.

Unfortunately, he could only walk along with her, too afraid to hold her hand. At best, he could nod or shake his head, and talk some more.

Originally, he wanted to go to Alan for advice, considering his relationship with Sabrina, but refused to when he saw the grin on Alan’s face.

And soon realized that taking dating advice from him would be a terrible idea. He didn’t know why he wanted to in the first place.

Thus, most of the time, Alexander was fidgeting, trying to figure out how to deepen their relationship without being seen as weird, something that was baffling to Festul.

The wolf had to struggle seeing a young boy so anxiously seek approval from his mate, something he could barely understand. While a former Supreme, he was also a God beast, and he had entirely different values.

He didn’t understand how and why Alexander was doing this, and didn’t bother to as well. Although he would still complain.

[Bah! Just prove your superiority over her in battle and take her as your mate! Much better than this unsightly process.]

Alexander heard not a single word, taking in from one ear and out the other, even if the voice came from inside him...

He didn’t wish to explain human relationships to his dear wolf partner.
