Hello, Comrade. I'm Here to Marry You!

Chapter 339: Su Zhaozhao’s Blessing

In the end, Su Zhaozhao applied to the psychology program at a university in Beijing.

Back then, you had to pick your universities before the exam results were released, so it was a total shot in the dark.

But there was nothing to be done; Su Zhaozhao couldn’t change the rules of the examination system.

Most people chose which universities to apply to based on their mock exam scores.

A month later, the college entrance exam results came out. Su Zhaozhao’s score was excellent, high enough to guarantee her admission into that university.

Zhou Yanyan also got into a university’s Chinese literature program. She was overjoyed and rushed over to share the good news with Su Zhaozhao.

“Zhaozhao, I listened to you! See? Now that I’m studying this, I can become a writer in the future, right?”

Su Zhaozhao smiled and patted her head. “Of course! You’ll have the degree and the life experience. Once you have more free time in college, you can really study the craft of writing. Try to produce a lot of good work and submit it to magazines.”

‘In this era, newspapers and magazines are all the rage, and physical books are extremely popular. It’s not like my time, where everyone just reads on their phones.’

‘There’s a certain nostalgic charm to it.’

Zhou Yanyan nodded. “I will! I’ll definitely pay close attention in my classes and write great things in the future!”

When she heard that Su Zhaozhao was going to study psychology, Zhou Yanyan quickly added, “Zhaozhao, that major is perfect for you! I’m surprised, though. You’re already so skilled, you still need to study it? I feel like you could be a psychologist right now.”

Su Zhaozhao chuckled. “Well, I’ve never studied it systematically, have I? I feel like I should learn more about it in-depth.”

“That’s good too. You’re well-suited for it, and you’ll be able to help even more people in the future.”

And what about Li Weichuan?

Li Weichuan was also accepted into his dream school, Beijing University, in the mathematics department. In the end, he chose to pursue his greatest passion: math.

Wang Anning and Li Jian Country were overjoyed to see their son, once so withdrawn and cold, become increasingly cheerful.

To celebrate Su Zhaozhao also getting into a good university, they immediately invited her and Xie Huaizheng over for dinner.

They even gave Su Zhaozhao a valuable gift.

“Oh, Zhaozhao, thank you so much,” Wang Anning said, her eyes welling with tears. “It’s safe to say you saved our family. Wei Chuan wouldn’t be doing so well now without your help.”

A smile touched Su Zhaozhao’s face. “Aunt Wang, there’s no need to thank me. It was the least I could do. Besides, you took such good care of Huai Zheng in the past. I’m very grateful to you for that.”

Hearing Su Zhaozhao’s words, Xie Huaizheng’s heart swelled with delight, and he squeezed her hand tighter.

Su Zhaozhao glanced at Xie Huaizheng. ‘Those words must have made him pretty happy, huh?’

Xie Huaizheng was indeed very happy, especially since Su Zhaozhao had said it right in front of Li Weichuan.

Li Weichuan remained expressionless, showing no outward sign of anything unusual, but Xie Huaizheng could tell at a glance that the kid was hurting.

‘He still has feelings for Zhaozhao. Even knowing she’s married to me, he still likes her.’

‘He should just give up sooner rather than later.’

Xie Huaizheng was just that possessive, wishing he could keep Su Zhaozhao within his territory at all times.

But his job didn’t allow for that. ‘And now Li Weichuan and Zhaozhao are both going to university in Beijing. They’re both college students. They’ll probably interact a lot in the future, won’t they?’

This was, in fact, exactly what worried Xie Huaizheng.

He was genuinely worried that if he was away on missions or got too busy, Li Weichuan would try to steal her away without him even noticing.

‘So, I have to stamp out this kid’s feelings for her as soon as possible. I can’t let him keep pining after Zhaozhao.’

Li Weichuan ate in silence, and Su Zhaozhao could sense that he didn’t seem to be in a good mood.

She couldn’t help but ask, “Wei Chuan, isn’t this the university you wanted? And you chose a great major. Why don’t you seem very happy?”

Li Weichuan snapped out of it and offered a smile. “No, I am happy. It’s just… thinking about going somewhere as far away as Beijing, I can’t help but feel a little worried.”

Li Tiantian immediately chimed in, “Don’t worry! Most of us who go to college rarely get to study close to home. Look at me! I go to school all the way in Jiang City, but I’ve managed all these years.”

Li Tiantian patted Li Weichuan’s shoulder comfortingly.

But while she seemed to be comforting him, Li Weichuan shot her an unexpected glare.

Li Tiantian: “???”

‘Wait, why did Li Weichuan glare at me?’

‘Did I say something wrong?’

“That’s right, Wei Chuan,” Su Zhaozhao said to him. “I’ll be going to school in Beijing too, and our universities are quite close. We’ll probably be able to see each other often.”

Li Weichuan’s eyes immediately lit up. “Really? We’ll still be able to see each other often?”

“Of course,” Su Zhaozhao said. “Uncle Li and Huai Zheng’s father are such good friends. You can come over to our place for dinner all the time.”

“That’s true,” Wang Anning said, “but we wouldn’t want to be a bother.”

“It’s no trouble at all. Didn’t you take care of Huai Zheng plenty of times before?”

Xie Huaizheng listened to Su Zhaozhao’s gracious words. He had been pleased when she first mentioned him, but he wasn’t happy about her mentioning him now.

He said, “Yes, Zhaozhao and I will look after Wei Chuan like a little brother. Uncle Li, Aunt Wang, you can rest assured. As long as I’m around, no one will bully Wei Chuan in Beijing.”

He was pulling Su Zhaozhao onto his side, framing their care for Li Weichuan as that for a younger brother.

‘If I put it like that, Li Weichuan will probably give up, right?’

‘He’d better.’

After dinner, Li Weichuan suddenly called out to Su Zhaozhao. “Zhaozhao, could you come to the study for a moment? I have a gift for you.”

Li Weichuan said with a smile.

Xie Huaizheng was instantly on alert.

He made to follow, but Su Zhaozhao sensed Li Weichuan’s displeasure and said to Xie Huaizheng, “You stay here. I’ll be right back.”

Xie Huaizheng could only watch helplessly as Su Zhaozhao left.

Su Zhaozhao followed Li Weichuan into the study. He took out a gift and handed it to her. “This is for you. I wish you a bright future.”

It was a small box, and she had no idea what was inside, but Su Zhaozhao thanked him anyway.

Li Weichuan gazed at Su Zhaozhao’s face, his heart filled with emotion.

‘Why was I just one step too late?’

‘No, not just one step. I was far, far too late.’

‘By the time I met her, she was already with Xie Huaizheng.’

‘But if she hadn’t been with him, I never would have met her at all.’

Li Weichuan couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret.

“Thank you, Wei Chuan.” Su Zhaozhao smiled at him. “I hope that when you get to college, you meet a girl you like and have a passionate romance of your own!”
