Chapter 227: No More Fake Medicine

Chapter 227: Chapter 227: No More Fake Medicine

Grandma Wang glared at Lu Chen and Lu Lin, absolutely refusing to admit that there was anything wrong with her herbal concoction.

Zhang Xiaomei’s expression changed; she indeed felt that her body hadn’t been in top condition lately and lacked energy.

Hearing Lu Lin say this, she thought it was possible that the concoction was damaging her health.

"Mom, my body really hasn’t been well lately, maybe I should stop drinking it for now!" Zhang Xiaomei said earnestly to Grandma Wang.

"What do these kids know! The master said you can’t stop with the herbal concoction and must keep drinking it until you’re pregnant." Grandma Wang obviously didn’t believe it, only thinking that the master she found was the best.

Because he said that he guaranteed a son, and if she didn’t conceive, he wouldn’t take a penny and would refund all the money.

"My brother learned about pharmacology from Grandpa Bai; he’s right." Lu Chen sided with Lu Lin, trusting his brother’s skills.

"Do you have the herbal residue?" Lu Lin asked Zhang Xiaomei, who seemed moved.

Zhang Xiaomei nodded, let go of Grandma Wang, and ran back home to get the herbal residue.

"Here it is." Zhang Xiaomei said to Lu Lin.

Lu Lin stepped forward to smell it, and the more he smelled, the more his brows furrowed.

"Stop drinking it! It contains safflower; you won’t get pregnant no matter how much you drink." Lu Lin said with furrowed brows; the herbs inside were a complete mess, entirely incapable of assisting pregnancy.

It was a completely different scent from the fertility medicines prescribed by Grandpa Bai, and he even detected some unpleasant odors.

Many of the ingredients inside were fake, all used for deception.

"What? Impossible, the master clearly said this is good medicine! Guaranteed male." Grandma Wang didn’t believe it, thinking Lu Lin was just an ignorant child.

"Believe it or not, it’s not us who can’t have children." Lu Chen stood protectively in front of Lu Lin, glaring at Grandma Wang.

This remark struck Grandma Wang’s vital point, causing her to waver.

Concerning her eldest grandson, this was no joke.

"What are you all arguing about here?" Aunt Liu came out, seeing Grandma Wang arguing with Lu Chen, frowned and approached.

"Aunt Zhang drank something unclean." Lu Chen shouted to Aunt Liu. "Grandma Wang doesn’t believe it, thinking her secret formula for having children is good stuff."

"I spent a hundred bucks on it!" Grandma Wang desperately needed an ally and was feeling a bit scared now.

"What kind of secret formula for children costs so much, could you have been scammed? Where did you find this master?" Aunt Liu frowned, clearly thinking Grandma Wang was more likely to have been scammed.

Even though everyone knew she was desperate for a grandson, she still spent a hundred bucks on something harmful.

"Impossible! The master can’t be a fraud." Grandma Wang stubbornly insisted she wasn’t wrong.

"What’s going on?" Lu Feng heard the commotion outside, worried it would disturb Fu Xiaoxiao’s sleep, and came out with a stern face.

"Dad..." Lu Chen saw Lu Feng come out, immediately stepped forward to explain what happened.

After hearing everything, Lu Feng furrowed his brow. "Kids don’t understand anything; don’t listen to their nonsense."

"Lu Chen, Lu Lin, come home with me." Lu Feng told the two boys to return home.

Lu Chen was visibly dissatisfied.

"I told you, my bought medicine must be fine." Grandma Wang laughed, hearing Lu Feng’s words.

"Dad, but brother wasn’t wrong, why did you say he was talking nonsense?" Inside, Lu Chen complained discontentedly after returning home.

Lu Lin also looked at Lu Feng, feeling a bit disappointed. Didn’t Lu Feng believe in him?

"Silly boy, of course, I know how keen your nose is, but you can’t wake someone pretending to sleep." Lu Feng rubbed Lu Lin’s head earnestly.

"She bought fake medicine, you only need to make the person drinking it suspicious, don’t try convincing Grandma Wang, she won’t admit her mistake." Lu Feng had seen too many cases like this, continued while hugging the two kids.

"You don’t need to waste words on her, if anything goes wrong, she would blame you first."

"Facing such stubborn individuals, don’t waste your breath on her."

Lu Feng’s words paused Lu Lin, who nodded in agreement.

"Dad, you’re worried she’d blame me if something goes wrong?"

This kind of thing he’d seen a lot at Grandpa Bai’s place too; some people refuse treatment claiming Grandpa Bai is scamming them by prescribing so many herbs.

Clearly, Grandpa Bai was saving their lives, yet they blamed him.

"Yes." Lu Feng nodded.

"Dad, but are we just going to watch Aunt Zhang continue drinking?" Lu Lin looked at Lu Feng, carefully asking.

"Aunt Zhang won’t continue drinking it." Lu Feng laughed lightly, confidently stating.

Zhang Xiaomei had already sensed something was wrong, as she’s the one taking the medicine, her body changes she surely knows, and once doubts arise, she wouldn’t follow instructions again.

"Don’t worry, Zhang Xiaomei isn’t foolish." Lu Feng ruffled Lu Chen’s hair. "You’re protective of your brother, how come you aren’t protective of me?"

"Nobody said you’re being protective, it’s all about mom." Lu Chen pouted, Lu Feng had nothing that needed protecting.

No one dared to offend him.

"What did they say about your mom?" Lu Feng’s face darkened, who dared talk about his wife?

"It’s Grandma Wang! She said mom is a stepmom, that mom should quickly have more siblings, and said once mom has them, my brother and I wouldn’t be as favored..." Lu Chen pouted as he spoke, Grandma Wang had said a lot of unpleasant things.

Sometimes saying she couldn’t understand why Fu Xiaoxiao married in as a stepmom.

Other times saying to secure her position she must quickly have another, must have her own kids.

Then she’d say having her own kids she wouldn’t like her brother and him, wouldn’t accommodate them, would drive them out.

"I see, I’ll handle this." Lu Feng nodded, his expression darkening.

Lu Lin and Lu Chen went to wash, scrubbed their little clothes clean, and handed them to Lu Feng for washing, then returned to the room, climbed into bed.

"Go to bed early, don’t stay up too late." When Lu Feng checked on them, Lu Lin and Lu Chen were engrossed in their picture books.

"Got it, Dad." The two little ones replied without looking back.

Lu Feng glanced at them, closed the door, and returned to his room.

Back at the bedside, seeing Fu Xiaoxiao’s weary face, he contentedly held her in his arms.

"I can’t... I really can’t..." In her sleep, Fu Xiaoxiao was startled by the heat, instinctively wanting to push Lu Feng away.

"Sleep, I’m just holding you to sleep." Lu Feng kissed Fu Xiaoxiao’s forehead, she’d truly been exhausted.

Even in her dreams, she was pleading.

"Don’t... bastard." Fu Xiaoxiao murmured, then tiredly fell back asleep.

"You’re mine." Lu Feng’s eyes glowed faintly, she was the light he’d worked hard to grasp, he couldn’t lose her.

Gently stroking Fu Xiaoxiao’s hair, making sure not to press her hair, Lu Feng let her rest comfortably in his arms, inhaling her scent, calming his restless heart, then closed his eyes to sleep.
