Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 119: Strange Stone

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Strange Stone

Only now did Yang Bo take a careful look at the massive snake. Its total length was impossible to determine, but its body was over two meters in diameter, and its head spanned roughly three meters across. Right now, however, it looked rather pitiful, having just been baptized by a Mechanical Laser Cannon.

The cavern was relatively spacious. If Yang Bo had simply launched a one-sided attack, the giant snake would absolutely have had room to dodge. Unfortunately for it, they had charged at each other simultaneously.

The five-meter-long Mechanical Energy Saber instantly plunged into the giant snake’s head.

The massive beast hadn’t expected to encounter a piloted Mecha. More importantly, the space was tight; otherwise, it would have just used its tail to swat away the Mechas Yang Bo had thrown in earlier.

The snake did have an Energy Shield active at the time, but unfortunately for it, Yang Bo was also wielding an Energy Weapon. When their energies clashed, the snake was caught entirely off guard—it had only braced itself against the shrapnel from Mecha explosions.

Coupled with the momentum of their head-on collision, the impact force was devastating.

As Yang Bo piloted his Energy Mecha to drive the blade into its head, the snake’s residual momentum violently flung his Mecha against the stone wall.

The Mecha’s alarms blared frantically, but Yang Bo remained calm. A notification had just informed him that the giant snake was already dead:

"Fire Energy Control +32!"

At that moment, Iron Bull and its companion finally landed at the cave entrance. Their small eyes widened in disbelief as they watched Yang Bo pull his Energy Weapon out of the massive snake’s head.

This territory had originally belonged to the Iron Bull clan. However, many years ago, a sinkhole had appeared here, teeming with snakes that began ambushing their herd. As a result, the Iron Bull clan was forced to relocate and live on the other side of the canyon.

"What a pity," Yang Bo said, standing at the cave entrance and surveying his squad of explosive Mechas. He had initially thought he could rely on these Mechas to slaughter his way through the Underworld. Who would have thought he’d lose two-thirds of them right here? The liquid spewed by the giant snake was incredibly corrosive. Only some of the Mechas’ Energy Metal barely survived; the rest had dissolved into piles of what looked like black rocks.

Yang Bo couldn’t do much about the snake’s corpse, either. The thing was simply too massive, its body winding and twisting deep into the dark cavern.

"Is there anything good down there?" Yang Bo wondered aloud as he peered into the sinkhole. An Exotic Beast of this caliber should have some treasures in its lair, right?

He hopped out of his Mecha, activated his Invisibility, and slipped inside. He was wearing his Battle Armor anyway, so he felt secure.

The interior of the cave was a complete mess. The stone walls had been blasted to pieces, and numerous snake carcasses littered the ground. It seemed these snakes lived as a massive colony.

This devastation was Yang Bo’s masterpiece, caused entirely by Miniature Hydrogen Bombs and Shock Wave Bombs.

The cavern was incredibly deep. At a depth of five hundred meters, he encountered many more of the same snakes. Six hundred meters, seven hundred meters, eight hundred meters down...

He descended for nearly half an hour, reaching a depth of over two thousand meters. He took his time, carefully observing his surroundings to guard against any other Exotic Beasts.

Upon reaching the bottom, Yang Bo was stunned. He found himself in a massive grotto with a hundred-square-meter magma lake at its center. Scattered around the perimeter of the magma lake were numerous snake eggs. They varied in size—the largest were taller than a person, while the smallest were only the size of ostrich eggs.

On one side of the grotto, Yang Bo noticed an exceptionally smooth, polished area, which he guessed was the giant snake’s primary nesting spot.

He looked around but didn’t spot anything valuable. His Mecha’s radar had been heavily disrupted in this place; the magma likely contained some unknown Energy that caused severe interference.

He felt somewhat disappointed and thought, "What a broke loser. Doesn’t this giant snake have any good loot?"

After looking around and confirming there was no immediate danger, Yang Bo exited the cavern. Once outside, he reconfigured the remaining Mechas and stored his own away, leaving twenty-three intact units.

Yang Bo took remote control of another Mecha to lead the way and charged right back into the cavern.

Brilliant flashes of light erupted within the dark tunnels, accompanied by a flood of system notifications about Fire Energy Control spamming his vision.

It wasn’t that Yang Bo hadn’t considered leaving this place intact as a farming spot, but he knew it was unlikely to work. The surviving snakes would definitely relocate after suffering such a devastating blow.

Along the way, the Laser Cannons of the twenty-three Advanced Mechas acted as the scythe of the Death God.

"Fire Energy Control +2!"

"Fire Energy Control +4!"

...

The Skill notifications constantly spammed his screen. Yang Bo felt incredibly pleased, marveling at how wonderful this setup was.

Two hours later.

Yang Bo and his Mechas reached the deepest part of the cavern and set their sights on the eggs.

He had briefly considered sparing the eggs or taking them with him to incubate, but it simply wasn’t realistic. Besides, quite a few snakes had already escaped earlier. As long as he remained in the Underworld, he should be able to track them down eventually.

Iron Bull and its companion had followed the Mechas all the way down. The look in their eyes as they gazed at Yang Bo was incredibly friendly, even bordering on worship.

Upon returning to the surface, Yang Bo began dismantling the Mechas. He stripped all the Metal off the Advanced Mechas and tossed it to one side, piling the Light Brains and other components on the other.

Yang Bo didn’t plan on acquiring any new Skills for now. His only objective was to combine Light Energy, Electric Energy, Gravity, Fire Energy, and Sound Waves to form his own unique combat style—one that included both head-on brawling and underhanded sneak attacks.

These dismantled Mechas were essentially walking bombs. Iron Bull and its companion watched him work in stunned silence.

Once the dismantling was complete, Yang Bo gifted the Metal parts to Iron Bull. He then piloted his Mecha, keeping only a small stockpile of Miniature Hydrogen Bombs and Shock Wave Bombs.

He dumped the Mecha Light Brains and other sensitive components into the magma lake at the bottom of the cavern. As for the remaining Miniature Hydrogen Bombs, he planted them at various structural points throughout the cave, intending to collapse the entire place.

Of course, he set aside a few Miniature Hydrogen Bombs. He planned to dismantle them and toss the payloads into the underground river where the electric eels lived. After all, the main appeal of this game was ultimate freedom, right?

Setting the timers on all the bombs, Yang Bo thought, "In the future, whenever I log into the Mecha game, I can just come here. With the Iron Bull clan around, whatever I want to do will be much more convenient."

Finally, he arrived back at the cave entrance. He glanced at the giant snake’s head, and suddenly, a realization struck him.

"Do these Exotic Beasts like to swallow all the good stuff?" he thought. "Do they instinctually ingest everything they value into their stomachs? Iron Bull swallowed so many Energy Stones... Could it have been hoarding them too?"

It made perfect sense. After all, Exotic Beasts didn’t exactly have backpacks or pockets.

Realizing this, Yang Bo hurriedly summoned his Energy Mecha, grabbed his Energy Weapon, and sliced open the giant snake’s body.

Sure enough, as he cut into a specific area, his Energy Mecha’s radar picked up abnormally strong Energy Fluctuations. Yang Bo didn’t have time to inspect it carefully, as the bombs below were scheduled to detonate any second.

Less than ten seconds after his Mecha leapt out of the sinkhole, violent tremors shook the ground beneath him. A massive plume of smoke and dust shot into the sky as the cavern completely collapsed in on itself.

Only then did Yang Bo stow away his Mecha and inspect the item he had extracted. It was an organ from inside the giant snake, something resembling a stomach. Perhaps because the snake had been killed, the organic tissue had lost its natural resistance, leaving it unable to mask the Energy radiating from within.

Still wearing his Battle Armor, Yang Bo used his Energy Weapon to peel the organ open. To his surprise, it revealed a round, Bronze-colored piece of Metal, roughly the size of an ostrich egg.

He was somewhat dumbfounded. What in the world was this thing?

Standing to the side, the single horn on Iron Bull’s head suddenly emitted a beam of light that landed directly on the Bronze-colored Metal.

"Iron Bull, do you know what this is?" Yang Bo asked, astonished. Why would Iron Bull react like this?
