Chapter 2246: Merchant Caravan, Through the Southern Central Region
Setting off alongside the merchant caravan led by the Dao Seed Realm cultivators belonging to one of the local major powers from the Northern Central Region, Qing Yi, Chun Hua and the little monk soon enough found themselves stepping into the Southern Central Region for the first time in their life. Finding themselves astounded the second they crossed the border between the two major regions, as the density in spiritual qi was obvious the second they crossed the border. Making it understandable why the Southern Central Region was such a great place to cultivate compared to the Northern Central Region or the Western Central Region for that matter.
But...
Roooar-!
While the Southern Central Region was undoubtedly a great place to cultivate, it was equally dangerous, as the merchant caravan ran into a group of demon beast ranging between the Earlier Stages of the Domain Lord Realm to the Later Stages of the Soul Ascension Realm shortly after crossing over said border. Forcing Qing Yi and Chun Hua to lend a hand in dealing with one of the weaker Soul Ascension Realm demon beasts, while the rest of the cultivators took on the rest of the demon beast.
Not to kill them, but just to scare them. After all, they weren’t out on a demon beast hunting expedition.
Still, a few of the demon beasts ended up dead before they realized they couldn’t deal with the caravan and decided to run away. Leaving behind a few corpses that was quickly seized by the cultivators who had managed to kill them.
To not stand out, Qing Yi and Chun Hua followed in the steps of everyone else and quickly seized the corpse of the Soul Ascension Realm demon beast the two of them had worked together killing.
Both had decided it was for the best to not flaunt their identity as members of an ancient hidden sect while moving through the Southern Central Region, as they had instead ended up taking on the identity of wandering cultivators for this trip through the Southern Central Region.
But outside of blending in and avoiding potential trouble with the locals of the Southern Central Region who weren’t that positive when it came to someone from a sect like them, being seen as wandering cultivators also made it far easier for them to blend in with the other wandering cultivators following the merchant caravan through the Southern Central Region to the other side of the Northern Central Region.
Something that gave the two of them plenty of opportunities to learn more about the world from these wandering cultivators who spent their life wandering from one place to another in search of opportunities that would aid their cultivation.
Maybe because they were on a caravan moving through the Southern Central Region, there were also a few wandering cultivators who weren’t from the Northern Central Region, but instead the Southern Central Region.
Using the merchant caravan that had already started to operate on schedule to move between certain regions of the Southern Central Region that they didn’t dare to cross on their own.
Because of this, outside of learning more about the lives of wandering cultivators of the Northern Central Region, Qing Yi and Chun Hua also managed to learn about the life of wandering cultivators living within the Southern Central Region.
And...
Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t great according to these wandering cultivators, as even one of them who had reached the Soul Ascension Realm told them that he was going to the Northern Central Region to find somewhere safe to cultivate there instead of remaining within the Southern Central Region.
After all, the cultivation environment and opportunities within the Southern Central Region were undoubtedly far better compared to anywhere else on the continent.
But... Along with that, the danger for wandering cultivators like themselves also increased and made it so that even a wandering cultivator that had managed to reach the Soul Ascension Realm feared for his life every day of the week.
For this reason, beyond those who saw no other opportunity to improve outside finding some kind of precious opportunity, most wandering cultivators tended to stay clear of the Southern Central Region.
In fact, the Soul Ascension Realm cultivator who told the two of them about this was one such individual, as he had entered the Southern Central Region when he had been younger and found it impossible to break through from the Nascent Soul Realm to the Domain Lord Realm.
Spending years struggling without luck before he finally ended up taking the risk of going to the Southern Central Region where he ultimately ended up lucky enough to chance upon an opportunity that allowed him to breakthrough to the Domain Lord Realm.
Unfortunately, the opportunity in question had led him deep into the Southern Central Region and he had spent every day since his breakthrough to the Domain Lord Realm trying to get back to the Northern Central Region. Encountering countless dangers and threats along the way that he just barely managed to escape from alive, before he finally encountered the merchant caravan that passed through the Southern Central Region.
Given how this wandering cultivator had not just reached the Soul Ascension Realm but was someone who had already passed the Fourth Tribulation of the Soul Ascension Realm and was getting close to reaching the Dao Seed Realm, it was easy to imagine just how long this man had ended up trying to leave the Southern Central Region.
At the same time, it also highlighted the danger of the Southern Central Region, as even such a powerful wandering cultivator who had clearly benefited from the rich cultivation environment of the Southern Central Region wanted to leave so badly.
But then again, though his tales of the Southern Central Region highlighted just how deadly the place was. Many of the wandering cultivators listening from the side also saw how this man had through the countless dangers managed to go from a mere Nascent Soul Realm cultivator all the way to the Soul Ascension Realm- and not just a normal Soul Ascension Realm cultivator, but a senior one who was close to reaching the Dao Seed Realm.
Understandably, more so than making the wandering cultivators who had come along to enter the Southern Central Region safely fearful of the region, it instead made them more determined than ever to remain and search for an opportunity of their own.
In the end, the wandering cultivator from the Southern Central Region could only silently shake his head seeing this as he found a place to quietly sit down a cultivate while waiting for the caravan to successfully leave the Southern Central Region.
Knowing that most of these eager wandering cultivators dreaming of striking it rich like he had back then would end up dead over the next few years.
Even more so with the current state of the Southern Central Region becoming increasingly restless thanks to the different major powers starting to fight with each other.
Not that these major powers would just fall in droves, but with the major powers starting to fight, the different smaller factions and powers under them also began fighting with one another. Leading to the entirety of the Southern Central Region getting dragged into a growing storm that had begun affecting every aspect of life for wandering cultivators like himself.
One of the main reasons he left, outside of the danger of the region itself, was because the different smaller local powers had started trying to drag wandering cultivators like himself into their battles, something he could ignore, but would result in life becoming even more difficult.
And while this senior wandering cultivator at the Soul Ascension Realm settled down, Qing Yi and Chun Hua ended up spending the next few days chatting with the wandering cultivators who were now all excited about the opportunities waiting for them in the Southern Central Region.
Not because Qing Yi and Chun Hua were interested in staying within the Southern Central Region, but instead because it was a good opportunity for them to learn more about the world.
The conversations only came to an end when the merchant caravan reached the midway point through their journey, a city governed by a Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator who had come to some kind of agreement with the major powers behind the merchant caravan and also the final stop for the caravan before it left the Southern Central Region.
The last stop for the wandering cultivators eager to enter the Southern Central Region to get off- and off they got, as close to half of the wandering cultivators that had originally been part of the merchant caravan disembarked and never returned.
Not that there was any lack of people to guard the flying ships, as even more wandering cultivators came aboard to leave the Southern Central Region for the Northern Central Region by the time the spirit boats left the city. Wandering cultivators whose strength was visibly above that of the wandering cultivators who had come from the Northern Central Region.
