Chapter 457 - 266: Yu Ren Returns the Fish School Evolves

Chapter 457: Chapter 266: Yu Ren Returns, the Fish School Evolves

James paused for a moment, then answered, "Understood. I’ll report to you before making any moves."

Lu Jiamei nodded. "You all go back and get ready. You’ll be moving out with the main force soon."

"Yes, Minister Lu!" James replied, then turned and led his people away.

Lu Jiamei glanced around but didn’t see Yu Ren. She asked, "Where is Yu Ren? Why haven’t I seen him?"

Si Youqin was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head. "I don’t think I’ve seen him since last night. And I can’t reach him on his phone."

"Go find him. We’re leaving soon," Lu Jiamei said, frowning.

"Yes!" Si Youqin and her team immediately left to search for Yu Ren.

Peach Blossom Base wasn’t very large, so they searched it quickly but found no sign of Yu Ren.

Si Youqin and her team then searched every ship, but there was still no trace of Yu Ren.

Si Youqin had no choice but to return to Lu Jiamei’s side.

"Minister Lu, we’ve searched the entire Peach Blossom Base and couldn’t find Yu Ren."

Hearing this, Lu Jiamei frowned slightly. "Tu Chong and his men didn’t see him either?"

"I ran into Tu Chong just now and asked him. They haven’t seen him either," Si Youqin replied, shaking her head again.

"Where on earth did he go?" Lu Jiamei looked puzzled.

Soon, everyone was ready.

"Minister Lu, should we keep looking for Yu Ren?" Si Youqin asked.

Lu Jiamei shook her head. "Our group will depart first. We’re leaving a team behind anyway. If Yu Ren shows up, he’ll be able to find someone."

"Understood," Si Youqin nodded.

Several large ships departed from Peach Blossom Base, heading toward Dragon Base.

Lu Jiamei reported the situation to Ren Yuanyang via her phone.

Ren Yuanyang was also surprised. Yu Ren had been fine at Peach Blossom Base; it wasn’t like him to leave without a word.

But there was little he could do. Yu Ren could enter the water at will, and it wasn’t as if he himself could go diving to find him.

"Tell the team staying behind at Peach Blossom Base that if Yu Ren appears, they are to bring him here to Dragon Base," Ren Yuanyang ordered.

"Understood, Leader!" Lu Jiamei replied.

Just as the convoy from Peach Blossom Base arrived at Dragon Base, a figure appeared on the water’s surface outside the now-empty Peach Blossom Base. It was Yu Ren.

He was covered in blood as he struggled to climb onto the Duckweed. Without even pausing to catch his breath, he pulled his phone from his pocket and called Ren Yuanyang directly.

Ren Yuanyang answered Yu Ren’s call immediately. "Where have you been? Si Youqin and her team couldn’t find you anywhere!"

"I went into the water! The evolutionary and mutational rate of aquatic life has sped up. You all have to be careful, and that includes our Banyan Forest!" Yu Ren replied, speaking rapidly.

"How do you know?" Ren Yuanyang asked, puzzled.

’Even if Yu Ren went underwater, the creatures he encountered could have evolved long ago. How did he determine that the rate has sped up?’

"My power surged under the effects of the blood rain," Yu Ren explained. "And I personally witnessed an ordinary Evolutionary Fish become incredibly powerful in a short time while I was underwater! This blood rain is no simple matter!"

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Alright. Are you still at Peach Blossom Base?"

"Yes, I just pulled myself out of the water," Yu Ren replied.

"Find one of the people we left behind and have them bring you to Dragon Base in a speedboat," Ren Yuanyang ordered.

Yu Ren was taken aback. "Right now?"

"Of course. Everyone else is already here. There should only be a single guard team left over there," Ren Yuanyang replied.

"Alright, I’m on my way," Yu Ren said with a nod.

He got up and went to his wooden cabin, found some clean water to wash himself off, then changed his clothes and headed for the docks.

At the docks, after Yu Ren identified himself, a guard immediately took him toward Dragon Base in a speedboat.

Upon arriving at Dragon Base, he went to see Ren Yuanyang immediately.

Sensing the powerful aura coming from Yu Ren, Ren Yuanyang remarked with a sigh, "We work so hard at Cultivation and improve so slowly, yet one mutation for you is worth several months of our effort!"

Yu Ren shook his head slightly. "Actually, I prefer the feeling of being in control—working hard at Cultivation and reaping the rewards. Not having my strength increase for no reason. I have no idea when it’ll happen again."

Ren Yuanyang was momentarily taken aback, then nodded. "If the blood rain is what helps you, why did you go into the water?"

"It might be because of the nature of my mutation. It’s easier to absorb the benefits of the blood rain in the water," Yu Ren said. He didn’t really know why himself; he just felt an urge to get in the water.

"So, are you done with your power-up?" Ren Yuanyang asked curiously.

Yu Ren shook his head. "I was chased out of the water by a school of fish. As soon as they saw me, they went into a frenzy. I couldn’t hold them off at all!"

"They’re that strong?" Ren Yuanyang was surprised. He was well aware of Yu Ren’s power. ’If he couldn’t hold them off, most Evolvers probably couldn’t either!’

"Individually, they aren’t strong, but there were just too many of them," Yu Ren replied. "If they launched a frenzied attack on our base’s plants, I’m afraid we’d have a hard time defending against them."

"Hmm, I’ve already notified Captain Wang and his team. They’re using radar to monitor the fish schools in the area," Ren Yuanyang said with a nod.

Just then, Long Zhan called.

"Master, a school of fish is approaching the Duckweed Continent from the south!"

Ren Yuanyang immediately stood up. "I’m on my way to take a look!"

He and Yu Ren immediately rushed south.

By the time they reached the southern perimeter, a team had already assembled.
