Chapter 1295: Raised Hopes, A Small Test

"Thank you for entertaining my small whims." Izroth said with a carefree smile.

"Well, after being cooped up in that place for 150 years, I guess I’ve learned to appreciate the little moments. I admit, it has been somewhat of an adjustment being around so many people again. After so much time has passed, everything and everyone is so different. Of course, I do not regret the choice I made. But, it would be untruthful to say that perhaps my choices at that time were too selfish and inconsiderate. That is why, even if it is too late to change the past, I can at least ensure that I do not repeat my mistakes." Hyrell said with a hint of melancholy.

"An admirable outlook. Although I can never acknowledge you as my master, since I have agreed to be your student, our connection has become one that is not easily severed. The path that you have sacrificed much to tread—it is no longer one that has to be walked alone." Izroth stated calmly.

A lighthearted smile formed on Hyrell’s face.

"After receiving such comforting words from my own student, how can I continue to look back?" Hyrell said with a relaxed expression.

After the two finished their brief exchange of words, Izroth called for Vexpela to enter.

Upon giving his approval, the door to the private room opened as Vexpela walked in.

"You called for m-" Vexpela started; however, she halted her words when she saw Hyrell.

Vexpela immediately cupped her fist respectfully and said, "I apologize for my rudeness, Formation Master Head Hyrell. I am late in greeting you. My name is Vexpela, I am the person in charge of the Golden Treasure House."

Vexpela hid her nerves well. The last person she expected to run into here was Hyrell.

Before today, the name Hyrell had never been even whispered in Danaharpe City. Let alone mention of a new Head of the Formation Master Guild. But, after the display earlier, among those with good insight, there was no one who doubted Hyrell’s position or skills as a Formation Master.

Of course, her most impressive feat thus far was making the haughty Grade Ten Formation Master, the Sage of a Thousand Mazes, Elric Gray, join the Formation Master Guild as its new Vice-Head.

Elric Gray was someone who even looked down on the previous Head of the Formation Master Guild, a Grade Nine Formation Master. Someone that arrogant would never bow his head or take a step back in front of someone unless they were worthy of such treatment.

Though the more pressing question on Vexpela’s mind was how Hyrell and the Supreme Elder of her Fourth Pavilion were connected. At the very least, the two did not seem to have a bad relationship with one another. Therefore, a part of Vexpela was relieved.

However, the most shocking part was what Vexpela witnessed with her gift.

Vexpela possessed a gift that allowed her to see the potential value someone held. And, for the first time in her life, when she met Izroth, Vexpela was unable to calculate his value with her gift.

Now, for the second time in her life and in the same day, Vexpela had met yet another individual that she could not calculate with her gift. That person was, of course, Formation Master Head, Hyrell.

"Oh? This young lady’s potential is not bad. You have good eyes." Hyrell said to Izroth before she set her sights on Vexpela.

She then continued, "Do not mind me. I am merely here to ensure that no one even thinks about pressuring someone under my protection."

Vexpela’s eyes briefly widened in shock; however, she maintained her composure. Though as much as she tried to stay calm, it was difficult for Vexpela to hide every sign as her body slightly trembled in excitement.

If the Supreme Elder of her Fourth Pavilion had the protection of someone like Hyrell, it meant that he had the entire Formation Master Guild behind him. This also now included the Sage of a Thousand Mazes, Elric Gray. Having the backing of two powerful figures as well as the Formation Master Guild was a huge windfall for the Fourth Pavilion!

"No, I should not get too far ahead of myself. Until I know the exact connection between the two, I cannot afford to let myself become blinded by a potential that might not exist." Vexpela thought as she regained herself.

Vexpela had become used to disappointment as her family members always snatched away those with potential she discovered. It was that potential fear that made her uneasy and uncertain.

Izroth sensed the turmoil of thoughts and emotions running through Vexpela. She had told him what her siblings done and the challenges she faced as a result of having no maternal family to back her in the succession battle. In truth, the fact that she was able to hold on for so long without giving into despair was something Izroth found admirable.

That said, for someone who lived a life where the moment they found something good, it was taken away from them, it was not easy for them to accept that something good could remain with them. In the back of their minds, they were always preparing to lose that good thing because it was the natural course of events. For someone like that, Izroth knew exactly what to do. And, that was to let actions speak louder than words.

"From now on, Formation Master Head Hyrell and the Formation Master Guild will support the Fourth Pavilion. If your siblings or the maternal families and forces backing them dare to make things difficult for you while I’m not around, do not hesitate to inform Formation Master Head Hyrell. We will never allow our people to be bullied by others." Izroth stated with a sharp gaze.

"Vexpela, was it? You can rest easy. While I do not know the specific of the matters at hand, I trust in the judgement of your Fourth Pavilion’s Supreme Elder. However, I will make myself clear. Since he has already chosen to lend his support to you, I will not complain. But, the moment you prove yourself unworthy of receiving such support—I will not hesitate to withdraw my support. And, at that time, I will suggest that the Supreme Elder does the same." Hyrell said firmly as her eyes locked onto Vexpela.

Vexpela felt an indescribable weight press down on her shoulders. It was just a simple gaze, but Vexpela felt as if she would be devoured with one wrong move. Nonetheless, Vexpela remained standing respectfully with her hand cupped into her fist.

"Do not be too harsh on her. If my judgement turns out to be wrong, I will blame my own poor insight. Though, I’m certain such a thing will never come to pass." Izroth commented in a carefree manner.

Hyrell averted her gaze from Vexpela. And, in that instant, it felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders.

Even though Hyrell had not used any special skill on Vexpela, she was still someone at the higher stages of the legendary realm. For a regular person like Vexpela, a brief glance was enough to bring about a crushing weight.
