Chapter 1309: A Partial Success?

Chapter 1309: A Partial Success?

’Divine power... I’m glad I chose not to accept it back then from the God of Craft. Regardless of my actual strength, if I come face to face with someone who has a greater amount of divine power, I would be rendered utterly helpless. Even though the Holy Saintess has not stepped into the legendary realm, it only took one move to suppress Rakuno, someone at the primary stage of the legendary realm. It’s the first time I’ve felt divine power at that level. If not for the three blessings that I possess, even with my Heavenly Golden Body and Might stat, it would not have been easy to resist its influence.’

Ravi stood to his feet and said, "Holy Saintess, we must depart from this place soon. Although it was only for a brief moment, you released your true divine power. It will not be long before our position is discovered."

"I am aware. However, it could not be helped. If Sir Ravi had made a move here, I fear it would have been too drawn out and attracted even more unwanted attention. Since it was the easiest way to resolve things, so the price is worth the outcome. Though, before we depart, there is something I would like to discuss with the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion." Lucilla said as she turned her attention toward Izroth.

She then continued, "I sense a great curse envelops you that does not seem unrelated to the foul creature I purified before your arrival. If not the presence of that curse, I would have assumed that you were an accomplice coming to their aid. Though, it would seem that we share a common foe."

’I suppose to someone with a high level of divine power, the Curse of The Netherworld sticks out like a burning flame at night.’

Back when Izroth served the arm of Nekrostalmenos, the Envoy of The Netherworld, he was inflicted with a powerful curse. There were those who attempted to remove the curse; however, since the Envoy of The Netherworld used his own lifeforce as the source of the curse, it could not be broken unless he was vanquished.

"I believe I was guided to this place for a reason by the brightest light. At first, I thought it was to deal with those from the Undying Desolate Valley who had been led astray. However, perhaps it is fate that has led out paths to cross on this day. Since it is fate that has guided me this far, I would like to try removing the curse that plagues you before I depart." Lucilla said as she approached Izroth and stopped a couple of steps in front of him.

’Remove it? If it’s a Holy Saintess, it may actually be possible to remove the Curse of the Netherworld. But... Removing it seems somewhat wasteful. Without it, obtaining Spirit Vouchers will become next to impossible. It’s also possible that I will lose all access to the Netherworld Exchange.’

If the Envoy of The Netherworld knew Izroth’s thoughts, he would have coughed up blood from anger. Most people would jump at the chance to potentially have such a frightening curse removed. However, Izroth saw its removal as something wasteful and a loss of opportunity!

’Well, since I received the Netherworld Exchange as a separate reward, I shouldn’t lose access to it. Even if things do end up that way, I’m sure the system will provide me with a fair amount of compensation. Not to mention, rejecting her offer will cause her to grow suspicious of me. Right now, she is my only connection to someone high up in O’Tohelm. And, the best chance I have at figuring out the identity of the Holy Saintess who attacked Empyrean and Selene that day.’

"Since the Holy Saintess is offering, I will not reject your kindness." Izroth responded in a carefree manner.

Lucilla gave a small nod. She then clasped her hands together and closed her eyes. She began to quietly chant as a brilliant golden light enveloped her and Izroth.

At the same time, Izroth carefully observed Lucilla’s actions and activated Skill Analysis from Master of Skills.

’It’s not everyday one gets to witness the purifying abilities of a Holy Saintess. Adding it to me Skill Archive can come in handy when it comes to creating or enhancing other support-type skills.’

Lucilla’s eyes shot open as she unclasped her hands and said gently, "Radiant Holy Light of Purification."

Izroth immediately felt an indescribable warmth encompass his entire body as a stream of system alerts sounded.

〈System Alert: The passive skill «Skill Analysis» has been activated.〉

〈System Alert: Beginning analysis of the skill «Radiant Holy Light of Purification».〉

〈System Alert: «Curse of The Netherworld» has resisted the skill «Radiant Holy Light of Purification».〉

〈System Alert: «Curse of The Netherworld» has been partially affected by the skill «Radiant Holy Light of Purification».〉

〈System Alert: «Curse of The Netherworld» has changed to «Curse of The Netherworld(Holy Weakened)».〉

〈System Alert: All skill cooldowns have been refreshed.〉

’Oh? I figured it wouldn’t be able to remove the curse, but... To think it was actually able to weaken it. Holy Weakened... It’s the first time I’ve seen something like it. Does it have to do with the divine power she poured into the skill she cast?’

As the golden light faded and the surroundings returned to normal, Izroth took a moment to glimpse over the Curse of The Netherworld.

Skill Name: Curse of The Netherworld -> Curse of The Netherworld(Holy Weakened)

Skill Level: MAXED

Skill Rank: Unique*

Cursed By: Nekrostalmenos, Envoy of The Netherworld

Passive: The user of this skill is marked for death and eternally cursed by the power of the Netherworld. The user will experience the following effect(s):

-Creatures of the Netherworld will always prioritize you as a target.

-The Netherworld will actively send creatures out to hunt you.

-Allies of the Netherworld may attack you.

-Enemies of the Netherworld will welcome you with open arms.

-You deal +100% -> 300% bonus damage as holy damage to creatures of the Netherworld.

-You receive -50% -> -60% damage from the creatures of the Netherworld.

*New ->-Every 24 hours, for a total of [4 Hours], you can completely suppress the negative effects of this curse.

Special Note: The only way to remove this curse is to vanquish the creature who is behind the curse.

’It appears mostly the same. Though, the damage and damage reduction increased. Also, this part is new. Although it’s limited, I now have a way of completely suppressing the curse should the need arise. I’ve also received another incredible gift.’

〈System Alert: The skill «Radiant Holy Light of Purification» is currently being analyzed. [Time Remaining: 23 Hour(s) 59 Minute(s) and 56 Second(s)]〉

’The longest a skill can take to analyze with Skill Analysis is 24 hours. The fact that it’s taking this long—it must be at least an SS-ranked skill. But, seeing as how it was able to affect something like the Curse of The Netherworld and even has the effect of refreshing the cooldown on all skills, it’s safe to assume it’s an SSS-ranked support-type skill.’

Izroth learned when he used Skill Analysis on Azalea’s SSS-ranked Dance of Phantoms and other experiences, that the amount of time a skill took to process depended on several factors. The most important of which seemed to be the skill’s rank and Izroth’s personal understanding and experience with said skill.
