Chapter 1310: Potential Leads

Chapter 1310: Potential Leads

Needless to say, Izroth had not come across many SSS-ranked skills used by others. Additionally, when it came to support-type skills, those S-ranked and higher were several times more difficult to obtain than normal.

Lucilla released a small sigh with a look of remorse on her face.

"My apologies, while I was able to somewhat weaken it by applying my divine power at the last moment, it appears that I could not completely remove the curse. Most curses are bound solely in hate. But, this curse is extremely insidious. On the surface, the benefits outweigh the negative. As a Holy Saintess, it is improper of me to say this; however, it almost resembles a blessing more than a curse. It is precisely because of this that the curse is bound to you so strongly. I fear that the only one who has a chance of removing such a vicious curse is the highest light of this realm." Lucilla explained as her brows furrowed slightly.

’I always found it unusual that a curse made it so that I’m more of a threat to the one who cast it. In the eyes of the Netherworld Envoy, it must have been no different than giving an ant a little more strength. One day, I will be sure that they come to regret their decision. That aside, if it’s someone called the highest light by a Holy Saintess, it can only be the Holy Emperor.’

The brightest light referred to the Goddess of Light, Primalux. While the highest light was how those who followed the faith of the Order of the Radiant First Light addressed the Holy Emperor of O’Tohelm.

Of course, meeting the Holy Emperor of O’Tohelm was no simple task. One’s status and worldly achievements did not matter as much of one’s faith and divine power.

If Izroth used all of his connections, perhaps it would be possible to meet the Holy Emperor. However, meeting them and getting them to remove the curse were two separate matters. To Izroth, it was not worth the trouble of going through.

"One thing is for certain. I have never felt such heavy resentment. I do not know what you did to incur a level of hatred that runs this deep, but your actions must have been one based in the light of good. It is not much, but I sincerely hope that lightening your burden, even by a little, will one day be of help to you." Lucilla said with a warm smile.

Izroth lowered his hood, as the magic that hid his identity was lifted.

"Allow me to express my apologies for not introducing myself properly. Due to a few circumstances, I am moving with a certain level of precaution. Sagarus is merely the name I use as the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion. My real name is Izroth. I thank the Holy Saintess for her noble efforts. The curse may still be a part of me, but what you’ve done will surely come in handy one day. You have my gratitude." Izroth said as he cupped his hand into his fist.

Izroth knew that if he wanted to build an actual connection with the Holy Saintess, he could not hide his true identity from her. Even though he still had some reservations, the timing seemed right to establish at least this much trust.

"Everything has its reason. It brings me a great deal of joy that you to see the trust you have placed in me. In regards to your appreciation, it is the brightest light who deserves your thanks. I am merely a vessel that carries of a will passed to me." Lucilla responded gracefully.

"Even the captain of a ship will give credit to the boat that safely weathers the storms of the sea. Without a captain, a vessel is simply a lump of materials strung together. Without a vessel, a captain cannot cross the vast seas and spread their name far and wide. I may not worship the one you call the brightest light. Nor will I claim to understand their will. However, I doubt they would want a light they’ve chosen to dim itself." Izroth said in a carefree manner.

Lucilla seemed taken aback by Izroth’s words. Not long after, a smile found its way to her face and it looked as if she had come to a sudden realization.

"Such great words of wisdom—I will forever keep them in my heart. Thank you for broadening my knowledge." Lucilla said appreciatively.

After their brief exchange, the atmosphere seemed to become much lighter.

"I know that you must depart with haste; however, before you leave, there is something that I would like to ask you that may not be entirely unrelated to you and the Order of the Radiant First Light." Izroth stated, instantly invoking the curiosity of the Holy Saintess before him.

"If it is a question that I am capable of answering, then I shall try my best to do so." Lucilla replied.

"Do you know of a Holy Saintess who has a connection to the Jestal Family of the Proximus kingdom?" Izroth inquired as he discreetly gauged Lucilla’s reaction and remained on guard.

At this point, Izroth was that Lucilla was the Holy Saintess behind the attack on Empyrean and Selene. However, there was still a possibility that Lucilla had a close connection with that person. After all, both were Holy Saintess’ of the Order of the Radiant First Light.

The next moment, Lucilla’s brows rose in surprise. However, there were no hint of hostility or caution in her body language. When Izroth saw this reaction, the last of suspicions about the Holy Saintess faded.

"Supreme Elder Izroth must be referring to Holy Saintess Alina. She often goes on pilgrimages through the kingdom of Proximus, so she has close connections with many of the Proximus kingdom nobles. But, if it is about Holy Saintess Alina’s connection to the Jestal Family themselves—I am afraid that I do not know the specific details of their interactions." Lucilla answered without hesitation.

’She seems to be telling the truth. Still, while it’s not uncommon for a Holy Saintess to go on a pilgrimage, it’s too much to write it off as a mere coincidence. The Holy Saintess called Alina—there’s a good chance that she’s the one responsible for what happened to Empyrean and Selene that day. However, I still need to confirm it’s the right person before I make any big moves. I will ask Azalea to look further into it.’

...

A couple of minutes later...

After Izroth a potential lead, he wasted no time shifting the conversation toward O’Tohelm’s occupation of Terraharpe City.

While Lucilla did not go into many details, she explained that it was the doing of one of the Archbishops. As for the purpose of the occupation, apparently, it had something to do with a discover the Archbishop made while reading the ancient texts located in the underground chambers of the Holy O’Tohelm Sanctum. But, even as a Holy Saintess, Lucilla had no clue what the Archbishop was after. In the end, the Archbishops only had to answer to the Holy Emperor and the power above them.

Though, even if Lucilla knew what the Archbishop was after, Izroth believed that the Holy Saintess would not give away the information so willingly. After all, at the end of the day, they were still on the same side.

’At the very least, it doesn’t seem to be the result of a hidden alliance made between O’Tohelm and Tempest. Of course, that’s assuming I take the Holy Saintess’ words at face value. Either way, it’s better than nothing to go on.’

"Holy Saintess, it is time." Ravi said politely.

"It would seem that our time together must be cut short. This trip to Danaharpe has opened my eyes in many ways. May the light guide your path." Lucilla said with a glowing smile.

Ravi gave a small nod to Izroth. Then, in the blink of an eye, both he and Lucilla disappeared from the private room.

Izroth pulled the hood back over his head as he made his way toward the private room’s exit.

’By now, they must be getting quite anxious. If I keep them waiting any longer, they’ll end up becoming too restless. It’s about time I meet the representatives from the Kroma Family and uphold my part of the deal.’

Izroth left the private room and made his way toward the meeting location sent to him by the Kroma Family after the bid closed.
