Chapter 2056: The Slight Northern Expansion -Part 2

A total of 150 Rifle Mages had been assembled at the frontlines of the Northern Territory of Ress with 20 tanks waiting to move out. After that initial encounter with the demons, Jin knew that invading would be a tougher process.

Excluding the 150 Rifle Mages were the Commando Mages that would be performing the opening volley. After that, they would search the parameters for any spies in the area and annihilate every single one of them.

At first, the ministry did not think that it was a good idea since if the enemy ever found out that their spies were gone, the mages under them would definitely cast a spell to find out what was going on.

This would severely expose the whole entire operation and there was a chance that they would counter attack. That was when Jin laughed and asked if they would really do that.

"Right now, we are the ones that are going to attack the demons. More will arrive to close the gap that we created. If they wished to attack us during this occasion, then I would welcome that challenge. This will give us the excuse to begin to assault the rest of the kingdoms as well." Jin said to the ministers and they could see the confidence in him to do so.

Jin had also communicated this to the public and even told them the summary master plan of what he would like to do to win against the demons.

But behind all this dramatic facade, there was an internal meeting with his leading ministers, and told them another possible plan instead. This was because he theorised that his assault would only be used to provoke the demons. And the demons would counter attack by hitting the entirety of the northern region.

That was where he could either be a saint or a demon as well. He can rush in to save the kingdoms or stay as a demon and not do anything for the entire northern line to fall. Only then he will move in to kill the demons with his current military force.

Of course, his military force was limited as well. Even with the preparations for the past few months, he only had 800 over mages at his disposal even though the conversion was still ongoing for them but he felt that it was still not sufficient even after the conversion.

He believed that with the added volunteers from the refugee camps as well as inspired recruits, it is most likely he would only have up to 5000 Rifle Mages in his possession.

This was mainly because Ress was relatively weak in terms of military might mainly due to the fact that they relied a lot on mercenaries and adventurers' work because of their capability to pay. From what he had seen from the financial records, they could have hired up to 20, 000 soldiers and that was their norm when it came to war.

But right now, Jin had decided not to touch the adventurers unless it was necessary to do so. This was mainly because their work right now focused on the dungeon portals. They were currently vital to the ecosystem that supported the living breathing of Ress.

That was why when adventurers wanted to try to take up the military route, most of them were subjected to a stricter interview and there were promotion adverts that showed that adventurers' pay was as good as being in the military.

Such adverts also had brochures to state that safety nets were being set up to ensure that their way of living would be ensured with the basic wages and they did not need to worry too much should they incur injuries or accidents.

Basically, the king had decided to implement a nation wide insurance scheme to ensure that the adventurers would have some basic compensation if things go to shit for them.

Obviously after building the residences, the other things that he needed to go for would be quality of living stuff such as hospitals and palliative care homes but right now, he needed to ensure that there was sufficient food going around for the war efforts in the near future.

So, recruitment of new Rifle Mages can come in depending on whether the demons destroy the other kingdoms first or Ress shall finish the job it started.

"Your Majesty, are you sure it is wise for you to be in the front lines?" General Gara asked as the king personally came down to check the frontlines. While in the past, the kings would come to the frontline to fight, it was because they were puppets of the masterminds behind the scenes.

That was why when Jin, who was now an equivalent to the level of authority the ministers used to wield, Gara felt a little unsettled.

"General. Kraft and I had driven a freaking tank into the battlefield by ourselves, I am sure we can -... never mind." Jin decided to not say another word as it felt like a red flag that could happen anytime. But at the same time, it felt awkward to leave the answer hanging as the answer.

"It's alright, we will back off if we feel that the danger is too great." Jin rephrased his answer and Gara was satisfied with the answer.

"Do you wish to give any encouraging words to the Rifle Mages before they proceed into battle?" The Royal General asked and Jin smirked a little.

He stood in front of the 150 Rifle Mages as well as the 20 Tanks who were operationally ready to move in whenever. With a long glance at the troops, Jin instantly released a furious wave of killing intent towards his Rifle Mages and they continued to stand tall against it.

Their eyes were focused and their body was ready to face such killing intents. They were not shivering with fear but rather, with excitement. The bloodlust within them was growing and Jin believed that this was to be expected for a small group of mages to battle against hundreds of demons.

"GOOD. Now it's 0905 Hrs. Finish the operation by standard dinner time and the royal chefs will cook up the warm hearty meals in your return." Jin said and the soldiers shouted in unison.
