Chapter 2057: The Slight Northern Expansion -Part 3

"Last repeat of the orders!" General Gara shouted with amplified magic. "The Isolation Barriers are opening. Your Majesty had graciously granted all of you 10 Minutes to get the hell out of here and fight! Once the gates are open, you are to invade and secure the 5km perimeter north of this barrier."

"Upon doing so, the king will then put up a secondary isolation barrier and you all will clear what was inside of that barrier." Gara continued. It sounded simple but everyone knew the risks that might incurred from this.

Before this operation, Jin had insisted on several simulations of it through a dungeon portal. Instead of using demons, the use of overwhelming S Rank monsters to fight against them was effective in showing them how the demons might possibly react. After all, Jin believed that there were power differences despite being in the same rank.

This was because when he used the very same Sherman Tank to fight against monsters, the shells easily pierced through quite a few rank B and C monsters, even though they were similar in 'names and types'.

For example, A Giant Demonic Spider versus a Giant Cave Spider was of the same rank but the former's ferocity and tenacity were stronger than the Giant Cave Spider which usually acts defensive against their enemies instead.

Those who had fought against Demons prior to the isolation barrier period had also vouched for the same thing that Jin had found out. That was why when they go in, things might not go to plan and certain contingencies need to be enacted to ensure their own survival.

"Good luck and let's do some demon killing!" General Gara ended quickly or else the adrenaline that everyone had from Jin's speech would dissipate.

That was also where Jin took it as the signal to open the isolation barrier slightly above the ground since the demons for some reason were also gathering themselves right in front of the barrier, something that they had noticed ever since they started to prepare for the operation.

It was as if they were attracted to human crowds although it did not make much sense because the other kingdoms aside from Ress were not affected. Perhaps, a sense of grudge mixed in as well? No one knows what the demon underlings were thinking.

All they knew was that when Jin opened the isolation barrier, the operation would commence and they had to fight for their lives as how they had been trained to do so.

"Go Go! Go! Go! Go!" Gara shouted and the first batch of commando mages that Jin had personally trained were the first to fly out, already charging their rifles and putting had their eyes on certain targets as the isolation barrier was being lifted.

The moment their rifles were slightly out of the isolation barrier, the shots were released and what ensued was a cascade of explosions that gave the operation some breathing space for the rest of the Rifle Mages to follow suit. Soon, the barrier segregated the land with demon corpses and tanks preparing to rush in as well.

The Commando Mages continued to press forward with the goal of reaching the 5 kilometer mark and staying guard while acting as a pointer for the rifle mages to reach. The initial goal was to gain 2.5 kilometre radius worth of land and to give the Rifle Mages some type of confidence fighting against the Demons even though Jin knew they could do it as individuals.

But as a massive operation, that was something that had not been done or practiced. Hence the goal for this operation was not just about the land but also the experience gained in coordinating in a chaotic environment to ensure that they survive this combat wasteland. Find more to read at .com

Surely they have the advantage right now since most of the Rifle Mages were flying and the monsters were 90% land based but that does not mean that an A Rank Demon could not suddenly sprout out from the masses and annihilate a group of unsuspecting Rifle Mages who were trigger happy from this operation.

But before that came to pass, Jin had now opened the isolation barriers from the ground up to enable rows of tanks to emerge from the Northern Territory of Ress. Corpses were pushed aside or rolled over as the tanks provided heavier support against demons who were able to withstand the multiple explosions that the Rifle mages had put out.

This also gave the monsters the distraction needed for being helpless against the flying Rifle Mages. The only thing was that it was something akin to out of the boiling pot and into the frying pan. The Tanks were destructive despite their lack of mobility. Jin had seen how useless it was when the person driving it did not have a good sense of mana control.

So, he had improvised smith each and every single tank that was on this particular battlefield to be slow like tortoises but its punch was enough to kill enemies in a jiffy. These Tanks might only have one barrel but the way it shoots was like a professional cowboy who was able to double tap and enable two bullets to come out at the same time.

That means double the firepower while firing at the same rate. This was further compounded by the fact that Jin had revamped the shell disposal to like a rifle. The shell literally popped out from the tank's side leaving the shell on the ground while moving forward. This gave a faster reload time at the expense of having that small weakness in the armour they had.

Of course, that portion was also partially covered with a movable armour plate and for the moment, the monsters did not even bother to aim there because they were dying all over the place. Obviously, there were also Rifle Mages protecting the tank columns who were riding at their backs but they were also the replacements for Rifle Mages who had been injured or needed a quick breather to reload.

This meant that this operation was meant to sweep the entire area from the Demons and to take it as theirs. At the same time, Commando Mage Number 4 and Number 8, both Leader and Vice Leader of the first batch of Commando Mages were being tasked with a separate issue.

"10 Spies killed. Still sweeping the area to search for more." Number 4 reported back to Jin through a Walkie Talkie. something that only the Commando Mages and the leaders of Rifle Mages had.

"Great. Now circle Ress once and take pictures of all the possible encampments. I believe you can use Odin's Lesser Jewels to at least do that." Jin instructed.

"Do you need us to move separately?" Number 8 proposed to cover more land faster and reconvene back into Ress via the southern borders. After all, going one round around Ress was not impossible for them but it would undoubtedly be tiring if they were going into stealth mode as well.

"No, go in pairs. I do not wish to risk my dependable leaders dying because of an accident that you two cannot handle. Take your time to come back. You have until evening dinner time anyways." Jin replied and the two leaders nodded to proceed to do their secret mission.
