Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4721 A Staring Contest?

Chapter 4721  A Staring Contest?

Lady Thunderwraith looked at Davis patiently, but before Fairy Thunderblaze could realize, she disappeared.

'She's using the ghostly yin in the surroundings to aid in her concealment, nearly perfecting it in this environment…' She was impressed but didn't think it was a danger to her since her scarlet divine flame was there to vanquish ghosts. Flames were also effective against blood-attribute creatures since flesh would be charred and become irreparable for a short time, even with a high healing factor.

Davis appeared before the grayish lake that looked black inside, deep.

By now, he was sure the Light Specter Facedevil would've noticed him.

As he tried to look into the lake to find it, the lake also looked back at him.

A triangular face of a spectral Nether Devil slowly surfaced, staring at him with wide, hollow eyes while possessing a monstrous expression on its face. Its horns made it resemble a Nether Devil which would give nightmares to any lifeform.

Davis's blood nearly ran cold.

"Die!"

With a wave of his hand, he launched a flurry of crimson-jade wind blade storm that struck the waters. At the same time, it sent him flying above as he gained distance from the Light Specter Facedevil. With his feet underneath the explosive power of the dark crimson heavenly flames, he maneuvered in the air and summoned crimson-silver lightning.

It made him appear like a god who was bent on causing destruction.

With three destructive forces combined, his aura underwent a massive change as a storm of black-golden energy bloomed around it, sparkling and arcing in a destruction fashion as it appeared ready to strike the devil.

The Light Specter Facedevil surfaced undeterred by the wind blades or the show of force above.

It floated like a specter, revealing a set of cold, ripping jaws that possessed a cruel smile and pitch-black eyes that seemed to be a gateway to the abyss. It set its eyes on Davis and spread its four arms, each one crafted like a divine weapon as its claws glowed with a spectral light.

It moved, floating and shifting like a wraith.

*Boom!~*

A tremendous impact shook the air as the lake erupted upward, sending towers of blackened water crashing into the sky. Waves twisted like writhing shadows, and arcs of black-golden lightning coiled within them as Davis and the Light Specter Facedevil clashed.

The very area trembled. Air distorted and wavered under the weight of their powers. Spectral screams echoed across the barren landscape, forming twisted faces in the mist that seemed to shriek for blood. The ghostly yin energy seemed to react to the Realm Calamity and come to its aid.

The Light Specter Facedevil had an innate ability to imitate Nether Devils to induce fear in many lifeforms. However, it didn't seem to be working against Davis.

Watching 'this' scene, Lady Thunderwraith was dumbstruck.

She looked at Davis, still standing by the lake and having a staring contest with the Light Specter Facedevil.

"You…"

"What's wrong? Go quick." Davis gestured, "It was stupid. It wanted to scare me first before attacking me, giving me the opportunity to put it into an illusion."

Lady Thunderwraith realized before she quickly departed and descended into the grayish lake that reeked of death.

Davis continued to hold the Light Specter Facedevil in an illusion. His lips curled as he felt delighted to pull a higher-level opponent into an illusion. This devil was completely unguarded while trying to scare him.

Initially, he didn't expect it to succeed. He didn't want to battle it either, as it could be that blood carnage Calamity's subordinate or slave creature since it was living within its territory. Hence, he only wanted to run around it to delay it.

However, it gave him a good opportunity.

As for its cultivation and prowess, he understood that it was at Level Seven Empyrean Stage with a prowess that was five levels higher. It appeared to have reached its limit here, unable to break through or waiting for a resource to nurture, which Lady Thunderwraith just went to plunder.

Davis felt like he could defeat it in a battle, but still, the shockwaves from their battle would attract the main Calamity, so he would've just escaped. He could only help a stranger so far.

In under thirty seconds, the ghostly lake rippled, and Lady Thunderwraith emerged. Underneath her, countless ghostly hands reached out, trying to trap her, filled with vengeance and hatred. They growled, shrieked, and roared at her escaping from their sight.

Davis also left, followed by Fairy Thunderblaze.

The three of them escaped the scene, leaving behind a confused Light Specter Facedevil who eventually broke out from the illusion until it went down the lake and realized that its resource was gone!

"Virraaaa!!!"

With a shriek, it summoned countless ghosts it had eaten and refined, aiding it in looking for that strange purple-robed human.

It appeared to stay in the lake, not daring to leave as it looked around with trepidation, shrinking when it would see a bloody giant pass by.

In another location, inside the hollow space of a withered tree, Davis, Fairy Thunderblaze, and Lady Thunderwraith stood, although the ghost hovered, appearing like she didn't have legs.

"What did you take?" Fairy Thunderblaze asked with a curious and seductive voice.

"It's a Peak-Level Exalt Grade resource, a Black Abyss Lake Ghostpearl that contains the ghostly essence required for my entry into the Divine Exalt Stage. With this, I would be able to unlock the second level of my Godskull."

Davis was shocked, and Fairy Thunderblaze was impressed. She said, "You have planned far ahead already. Unfortunately, can you retain this resource?"

"…"

Lady Thunderwraith went silent. Despite being a top-tier supreme genius, as a mere Immortal Emperor, what can she do if her elders wanted to claim this from her? She needs to have backing, but she was sure even her master would take this from her.

Unlocking the second level of their Divine Exalt Grade cultivation manual wasn't a simple matter. It would make any ghostly Divine Exalt go crazy!

"Actually, are ghost cultivators even able to enter the Empyrean Stage, much less the Divine Exalt Stage or the Exalt Stage?" Davis voiced his doubt, "How are you going to tackle the problem of the truesoul? Without it, how would you create a Godskull? You ghosts don't have a truesoul since all you are is a culmination of the remnant soul left behind when you were living."
