Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4729 Haunting Hunt

Chapter 4729  Haunting Hunt

Lady Thunderwraith's soul continuously palpitated.

The feeling of death was closing in eerily, yet she continued on with the two Divergents. With no way out, she resigned herself to following them to death. She didn't feel any regret since what had been done cannot be changed. She willingly escorted them here and ended up getting caught in this battle between a terrifying Realm Calamity and a calamitous Anarchic Divergent.

When their attacks blazed, she was thoroughly done with life.

The Blood Realm Calamity was something else, but this man crossed nearly twenty-eight levels higher to fight it, and she found no traces of an artifact being used. If this wasn't breaking common sense, then she didn't know what was. As a ghost, she thought she had seen life and death, but was introduced to a whole new world with different types of energy she had never seen.

It completely blew her perspective and increased her horizons.

She could comprehend little of what the Anarchic Divergent used, but even then, he managed to scare the Blood Realm Calamity away, which was a feat in and of itself.

Just as she thought that they would retreat, their path had been sealed, forcing them to face the thousands of bloody giants that were pouring in.

As she took out her trump card, a flute to defend herself, she found her energy rapidly draining. She realized that it wouldn't be long before she perished here.

"Thank you for the invitation. Perhaps if life gives us another chance again, maybe I won't stand on ceremony."

Lady Thunderwraith suddenly said as they arrived at the heart of the bloody lair.

However, the two of them didn't respond. Like smokes, they vanished in front of her gaze, making her eyes blink.

The scenery was still the same, etched with countless blood veins seeping through the fleshly walls as it exited into an even more spacious lair.

"What's going on…?"

Lady Thunderwraith paused momentarily to take a look at her surroundings. She realized that she had been separated from them, possibly encountering death within moments, but was this place?

Curious, she delved forward.

The spacious lair seemed endless and even seemed to build into a scarlet-crimson forest with crimson trunks, scarlet leaves, and blood-red flowers. She ventured into it as though seeking death.

=======

"Davis?"

Fairy Thunderblaze looked to the side and noticed that Davis had gone missing as he wisped into smoke. Her heart sank, but she didn't let it get to her, quickly bringing back her composure. With the golden gourd and the scarlet flameseed by her side, she bravely ventured further into the crimson jungle.

At each turn, she expected the bloody creature to pounce on her. The crimson leaves shifted without wind, and the blood-red flowers quivered when she passed by as though reacting to her own blood.

It didn't take her much to tell that something was prowling around.

Her instincts, honed from countless battles and schemes, told her that she was pulled into an illusion, yet her intuition said that this couldn't be any more real.

Pressing onward for several hundred meters, a clearing appeared. The air grew colder, and the rustling of the leaves unnaturally calmed.

"Impossible…"

Fairy Thunderblaze came to a stop, her eyes slowly widening as her pupils dilated. She felt this wasn't possible since she had used the technique to sever karmic connection from one's blood.

Yet, she couldn't take her gaze off the scene before her.

A tall, straight, and regal man stood before her. He wore a crimson robe, his head adorned with a golden crown, his features phenomenal, handsome, and full of authority. With his hands clasped behind, he exuded the aura of a dominant figure. The oppressive authority this man exuded could make numerous kingdoms kneel with a single command.

His expression was stern yet calm, exactly as she remembered, except-

"My daughter," A rich, thunderous voice echoed out.

Fairy Thunderblaze reacted with the utmost caution, using her gourd to strike golden lightning at him.

*Bang!~*

The golden divine lightning struck the man.

Other than releasing a few layers of smoke, it did nothing, causing her to stagger back.

"You… you are not him. I even built a mausoleum for you and buried you myself!"

She flew to the side and used the scarlet flameseed to summon wisps of scarlet lotuses that fell on him, setting up ablaze. But despite that, he didn't move or show any kind of defensive measures.

Instead, he waved his hand, causing the flames to be snuffed out.

"What a disgrace." He harrumphed, "You strayed from your path and allowed yourself to be considered inferior. Do you really like him so much? Did you forget my teachings!?"

"…!"

Fairy Thunderblaze shook fiercely.

She clenched her teeth and unleashed more attacks. The blood-red sky cracked with golden lightning, every bolt infused with her thunderous fury. Scarlet lotuses bloomed beneath her feet, flaring with cataclysmic heat. She poured everything she had, memories, rage, and defiance, into her strikes.

*Boom!~* *Boom!~*

The clearing exploded with two different radiances, which then merged into one powerful explosion of Thunderfire Laws. The blinding glow and the resulting shockwave sent her flying back.

The soil squirmed, and the crimson forest shook like a wounded beak.

However, the man himself didn't seem to budge.

He still stood exactly where he had been, smoke curling from his robes while his eyes remained dark and unfathomable.

Fairy Thunderblaze's emotions went through a rapid upheaval that she was unable to control.

"You have grown sloppy." His voice thundered through her bones, making her shiver like a child, "Is this the might of the daughter I raised? The princess who was meant to wield thunder as judgment and fire as law with her unique Divergent Physique?"

Fairy Thunderblaze's heart quivered violently.

"Shut up!"

"Ludicrous." The man waved his sleeves, adopting an extremely familiar demeanor as he walked towards her.

"Look at you," he continued, "I trained you to be invincible. I taught you to sever weakness. Yet here you are, letting a man lead you astray."

His gaze sharpened, "You forgot the first law I taught you."

Fairy Thunderblaze stumbled backward. In her vision, everything turned hazy. The scarlet jungle was trying to wrap around her, leaves elongating like crimson tongues, flowers contracting like beating hearts as she tried to remember the first law.

[Power bows to none. Least of all, to desire.]

Fairy Thunderblaze gasped. Her breath hitched in her throat, unable to retaliate mentally.

"You built me a mausoleum?" the man continued, voice layered with mockery and sorrow, "You dare claim filial piety only after I died?"

"Shut your mouth!" she yelled out, unleashing a storm of divine thunder that ripped open the ground.

But the image of her imperial stepped through the crackling thunderfire unharmed, as though reality reformed around him.

"You grieve for me now? Pathetic."

His voice deepened, dripping contempt, "You think I wanted sorrow? I wanted a successor."

Fairy Thunderblaze's eyes trembled.

She turned around and escaped, quickly leaving the clearing as she headed into the crimson jungle.

She knew that she couldn't beat it, so she could only gain distance. Yet, she couldn't stop the quivering in her body. Even though she perfectly knew it was the Blood Realm Calamity, her Will trembled.

Numerous memories ripped through her soul.

Power, bloodline, palace politics, internal strife, ruthlessness, and vision.

"Strength defines justice."

The voice still boomed out, causing her to look behind before she changed directions.

"You are born to lead."

The authoritative voice still boomed, "You are born of my Will; your destiny is an extension of mine. Kill your mortal heart and dominate the world under a rule of tyranny, for the world is always in a cycle of hope and despair. Only you, as a Divergent, can change it. But you… what a disappointment!"

The voice lamented, leaving Fairy Thunderblaze nearly on the verge of tears.

"Did you really think that you would have a place in his heart? Naive! How many times have I told you? To cultivate immortality, you must first kill your mortal heart. The weak recite morality to comfort themselves; the strong define it. If you want him, you know what you should do after coming this far!"

Fairy Thunderblaze's speed inevitably slowed down.

She slowly came to a stop, turning to look behind her and seeing what appeared to be a firm and majestic visage of her imperial father. Yet right now, his expression couldn't be anymore gentler.

"My daughter, remember this: the heavens have no affection, yet it governs all. The sun does not weep for those it burns, nor does the moon mourn the drowned. If you wish to sit upon the throne of eternity, you must learn to look upon the world as the heavens do, with eyes that see all, and a heart that spares none. That is the essence of a Divergent, the inverted ruler of the heaven and earth, the bringer of calamities."

"You're wrong… imperial father…" Fairy Thunderblaze bit her lips, her eyes watery, "Your aspirations were merely illusions. You died a miserable death chasing your rabid dreams, which you tried to attain using me, but in the end, I won. I killed you, buried you, put you to rest, and mourned for you. Don't you dare appear before me and act like I'm still a naive little princess who needs to be moved like a puppet."

The crowned man's gentle smile faded, replaced with a creepy smile.

"Is that so? Then you should know that this is the only chance you have."

"..."

*Boom!~*

The space rippled, and there emerged Davis, who squashed the crowned man with a single chaos-destruction fist yet again. Without even having to probe, he knew it escaped again since it was just playing hide and seek now, still trying to squander his energy. He already hunted multiple main bodies by tracing them but failed to completely eradicate it.

However, he frowned over the Blood Realm Calamity's last appearance before he turned to look at Fairy Thunderblaze.

"Are you alright?"
