Chapter 4745 Learning Diligently
Time passed.
While the two ladies spent time worrying whether the True Deity Spirits, the Archons, would lose patience and erase them from the world, Davis diligently studied, his room filled with strange scriptures and dubious writings from the Heavenly Gambling Records, scouring through each paragraph and each metaphor to find a breakthrough to his new technique.
If he could usurp something as abstract as identities, then he didn't doubt that he could usurp someone's mark, which could be considered a faith mark.
Davis recalled the Void Reflection Deity's usage of something the deity himself termed the Starry Mark. It allowed his staunch and zealous followers to obtain immense benefits. In the same way, he believed Fairy Thunderblaze was a victim of such a mark, accurately, two of them.
Now, the question remained how he could plunder it and transplant it into himself without stealing her cultivation.
Then, he wouldn't even need to cultivate its energy and cripple his cultivation base as he could carry it like a tattoo.
After everything was done and he retreated to a safe land, he could then use the Malevolent Flesh Erasure Fan's hidden Will and the Wills from these marks to battle each other.
As for why he was studying the Heavenly Gambling Records again? Naturally, that was to increase his odds of success when usurping. After all, he didn't possess the scarlet karma thread of the Scarlet Destiny Spindle anymore. It was emptied out from his previous usage.
Tia wasn't here to create new scarlet threads, and his karmic energy wasn't special enough to be able to produce the scarlet threads using the broken Scarlet Destiny Spindle. Of course, he knew using Fallen Heaven would work, but that was suicide. He could just use Fallen Heaven to combat them in that case.
Regardless, since he didn't have the scarlet karma threads, he could only rely on something as unreliable as luck.
It was quite vexing.
Davis read the last line on one of the hundreds of scrolls sprawled out in his room before throwing it to the side. He then searched his spatial ring for another useful record on anything regarding inscriptions that create an effect similar to the runic marks created by those existences.
Days passed again.
In the corner of his eyes, he could see a silhouette enter. It made its way to him, weaving through the heap of scrolls, before it appeared beside him, materializing a woman clad in a luxurious crimson-purple robe. A cup was placed on the table in front of him, and the woman left wordlessly.
"Wait a moment…"
Davis raised his hand, causing Fairy Thunderblaze to stop.
"This one is poisoned. Bring me a new one."
"Neutralize it yourself."
Fairy Thunderblaze softly uttered and left.
Davis turned to look at her leaving figure before chuckling. He brought his hand over the cup of refreshment and pointed at it. Life energy plunged into the poisonous drink, clearing it of its toxicity rather easily, before he took the cup and drank it in one fell swoop.
"Phew…" He sighed, finding the brew quite a delicacy.
Thinking about Fairy Thunderblaze, it wasn't the first time she tried to poison him in the last month and three days he was stuck here. Fairy Thunderblaze brought him refreshments four times a day. Not all of those drinks were poisoned. Only a minority were laced with poison and the poison wouldn't even affect him if he drank it but it might certainly flare his illness up.
Regardless, after nine times of being presented a poisonous drink, Davis didn't care anymore. He stopped berating her and let her carry out her game.
'Perhaps she is just incensed that she has to serve me refreshments daily like she's my servant…'
Davis shook his head and carried on with his studies as he looked forward to the next drink. Her concoctions were perfect and brought him amusement amidst the boring studies.
In the evening, Fairy Thunderblaze appeared again.
This time, after placing the refreshment, she didn't leave.
She gazed at the scrolls, finding some interest, but didn't dare to research without his permission. After looking around, her lips moved.
"How far have you reached?"
"Not yet. I'm ninety-eight percent done."
Fairy Thunderblaze nodded. When creating a technique, it was always that one or two percent that caused people to be training for years and still never attain the technique they wanted to create. Still, she was surprised to hear that he had come this far when last week, he claimed that he had only said he had achieved a sixty percent success rate in creating the technique.
His comprehension regarding Karma Laws was unbelievable, making her doubt how this Anarchic Divergent could be overpowered in so many Laws.
Tempestuous Firestorm Obliteration Physique, Chaotic Genesis Body Physique, and the Everlasting Samsara Tribunal Soul Physique. Powering them was the Obliteration Worldstorm Codex that allowed him to practice Fire, Wind and Lightning to a higher level, Grand Chaos Body Art that allowed him to not only practice chaos and destruction but also the many elements that came between them, Unfettered Earthly Reincarnation Scripture which allowed him to practice life, death and reincarnation energy that cannot be emulated at the same time even with the Chaotic Genesis Physique.
None of these physiques and cultivation manuals helped him comprehend Karma Laws specifically, so she could only wonder if it was innate.
Regardless, each one of these cultivation manuals had the capacity to be an extremely powerful cultivation path that surpassed her own easily, making her inwardly sigh.
"Why are you still here? You want to discuss something?" Davis shot her a glance.
This time, the cup was poisoned, so he drank directly, sipping it instead of gulping it whole, "Hmm, this time it's similar to blueberry. Quite a delicacy. You have a knack for being a maid and perhaps even a cook. What do you think? Do you want to come work for my family?"
Fairy Thunderblaze tried to ignore his mocking as it was now commonplace in retaliation for her own actions, but couldn't, "As long as you don't mind me poisoning a drink and a random death appears once in a while."
Davis smilingly shook his head. Her words were quite venomous, indicating that her poison wouldn't only be for him. He waited for her to continue.
"I don't really understand. Why am I not good for you? Do you detest me that much?"
Davis paused, taking a sip. He became slightly uncomfortable as he didn't want to broach this topic. Besides, he had already explained the reasons a few many times, so why was she still doubtful.
"Because you would bring harm to the harem." He said after some consideration.
Fairy Thunderblaze's expression stayed the same, "I don't disagree. However-"
