Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4894 Stepping Into The Blight

Chapter 4894  Stepping Into The Blight

Davis and Jade Aurora floated out of the ocean. They were drenched, but with a wave of his hand, ordinary wind and flames soared across their figures as he dried them up.

Jade Aurora enjoyed the feeling of the warm breeze as she remained hand-in-hand with Davis. It wasn't until they dried up that she let go of his hand.

"Your mind is occupied by her right now, no?"

Davis's lips curled upward, "Unfortunately, yes."

He didn't seem apologetic at all, but talking with Jade Aurora and hearing her thoughts made his mind clear up a bit as to what he must do. However, it wasn't like he decided on something extreme.

First, he would like to meet Zenova and see what kind of attitude she still has.

He had always gone with the flow, understanding and meting out punishment or reward with Heart Intent as his aid. The only change was that he didn't use it on his wives for the most part, but he was going to make an exception for Zenova.

"Then go see her." Jade Aurora smiled warmly.

Davis nodded. He grabbed her soft hand back, stroking the back of her palm with fondness.

"Wait for me. I will make it up to you."

"It's not like you're doing me wrong." Jade Aurora looked away, her cheeks reddening in shame, "I lied to get together with you…"

Davis couldn't help but smile, "That's an innocent lie. Don't worry about it."

He raised his hand and stroked her cheek. Jade Aurora shook her head, wanting to say that her new sisters definitely would find fault with her. However, someone approached them, causing them to turn.

"Are you done?" Qiyra Darkstar hovered over them, "We cannot stay here for long. Someone could always trail my path using astral divination arts, although I don't know much myself."

"Do such cultivators exist?" Davis blinked.

Qiyra Darkstar's expression remained indifferent, "I don't know. Astral cultivators are extremely rare, and diviners of that line are practically non-existent, but it would be our bad luck if someone like that existed on their side."

"I see, but I'm not done." Davis flicked his sleeve, "The Heavenly Blight Hall did me a huge favor as they seem to have stopped the Celestial Transcendent and a few other Venerable Knights from interfering. I need to contact and thank them before we move further. Also, it doesn't matter if this place is found after we leave, right?"

"…" Qiyra Darkstar slightly frowned.

He still wanted to form a relationship with the Heavenly Blight Hall? She felt it was dangerous.

Regardless, she still answered.

"Mmm, it doesn't matter. This is a connecting island that we needed to get to the linking paths Wix built in order to reach your settlement. We can abandon this route altogether as there are thousands of floating islands in space."

"Great." Davis looked thankful, "I have this contact token that also identifies me as the Fifth Dark Apostle. Do you perhaps think you can seal its location tracking capability? Although I owe the Heavenly Blight Hall, I certainly wouldn't want them to be able to find my home here and give them leverage."

"I think I can… but it might also break the other functionalities of the token."

"Oh, then I'll first attend and depend on you to seal it later."

"Attend?" Qiyra Darkstar's eyes narrowed in confusion.

Attend what?

Davis gained some distance from the others and took out the identification token. He poured some energy into it, and two seconds later, his vision changed.

He was no longer on the beach but in that dark chamber, which existed inside a spatial fold. It was a vast yet constricted space. The ceiling didn't seem to exist in a conventional sense. Instead, above him stretched a star-filled sky. Nebulae of deep violet and abyssal blue drifted slowly, their pulsing faintly echoing like the breathing of the deep sea.

Threads of silver starlight curved across the void in elegant arcs.

Despite the boundless skies, Davis could feel the boundaries before he looked at the monumental door in front of him. It was tall, unnaturally so, as though crafted from the void itself. It led to somewhere, but he didn't know where.

This was his second time here, but he was still awed.

"Congratulations on surviving, Divine Emperor of Death. I've heard that the Astral Night Demoness saved you?"

"Astral Night Demoness? Woah…"

Davis was momentarily taken aback. Was that Qiyra Darkstar's title in the Upper Realms? He didn't think she had one since she claimed that he had always been hidden in order to survive, but it seemed like she had her own history.

'I guess so… she feels she murdered a whole lot of people and broke the rules placed by her master…'

Davis felt that this title was related to this matter, but he could only speculate. He didn't wish to go deeper and bring out some nightmares, so he cupped his hands and bowed lightly.

"I think so. Regardless, I, Davis Loret, am grateful for the rapid aid. I heard that you blocked the Celestial Transcendent. Is that true?"

"Only an avatar and a Venerable Knight. If it were the main body, I could only say goodbye to you."

"That's hilariously true." Davis chuckled.

*Vrrrr~*

Abruptly, the monumental door in front of him started opening.

"Enter. Let me show you your fellow apostles who helped you."

Davis nodded to the voice and walked towards the opening doors that were no different than gates.

Beyond the door appeared to be another chamber.

The void expanded in his view as he saw a circular platform of black spatial stone floating in the endless darkness, its edges trimmed with slow-moving rings of silver runes. Four seats were arranged along the circumference.

Above them all was a fifth seat.

This seat didn't touch the platform but hovered.

Davis stopped walking when he saw a seat materialize.

It formed directly opposite the elevated throne, condensing from threads of pale starlight and spatial energy. The moment it stabilized, Davis felt a faint resonance with his soul, as if the seat itself acknowledged his existence and adjusted to him rather than the other way around.

Thinking this was for him since he was the Fifth Dark Apostle, he walked towards it.

At this moment, a female figure suddenly walked out from another chamber that connected to a seat.

"Divine Emperor of Death, you're finally here. I killed a Venerable Knight for you. Hopefully, you like our welcome gift." A warm voice oozed out.

Davis nodded. Just as he was about to take a seat, he stopped halfway, looking dumbfounded.

"Eh?"

He shot a look at the figure in question. She was a black-robed woman with a faceless mask, so he couldn't see her features but he instantly connected her with the only female and the apostle in the Heavenly Blight Hall, the First Dark Apostle.
