Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4971 Laura Loret

Chapter 4971  Laura Loret

Laura's pupils shrank as Davis's fingers tightened around her throat. Her spear slipped from her grasp and fell, embedding itself into the ground below with a dull thud. The lightning arcs flickering around it faded like dying sparks.

Even though it was a Low-Level Empyrean Grade Spear also gifted by Sophie, it had no effect on Davis as he basically suppressed the lightning with his own law comprehension and forcefully captured it by putting behind his entire suppressed martial cultivation on the tip of his two fingers with blood manipulation.

In this state, they were comparable to Level One Empyreans, but he still easily subdued them.

Laura choked, tears emerging from her eyes. She barely managed to raise her hands, grabbing Davis's wrist.

"Let him… go… spare… him…" Her voice broke into a faint rasp.

Her body trembled as the pressure on her throat slowly increased. Veins appeared across her neck while the air in her lungs became scarce.

Davis stared at her, his gaze neither furious nor cold

It was worse, disappointed.

Laura's feet kicked slightly in mid-air as her strength began leaving her limbs. The emerald lightning aura around her body flickered weakly while her face began turning pale.

She continued pleading with her eyes.

"Take it… out on me…"

Davis's grip tightened further.

Her throat emitted a faint cracking sound.

Laura's eyes widened in panic as her body began shaking uncontrollably.

Below them, Evan finally forced his trembling body to move.

"Stop…!"

His hoarse voice barely escaped his lips.

Evan struggled to stand as his legs trembled violently, and the pain from the punch still rippled through his body, yet he forced himself upright as he found support from Davis's leg.

"Stop… hurting her…" He roared, but it was a mere squeak, his voice hoarse.

Davis's expression darkened.

He hated doing this more than anything.

With a swing of his leg, he sent Evan flying.

Then, with a wave of his hand, he swung Laura and threw her.

Laura's body flew like a ragdoll across the air before crashing straight into Evan.

The impact knocked both of them to the ground before they rolled across the grass.

"Laura!"

Laura coughed violently while clutching her neck, and Evan quickly held her shoulders, panic filling his expression. There was blood dripping out of his lips as Davis struck his face.

On the other hand, Laura struggled to breathe as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Her throat was bruised while her entire body trembled.

When they came to a stop as they huddled together in tears as though their world was going to end, Davis walked toward them as he coldly spoke.

"You two like embracing each other. What a good couple- I'll readily give my stamp of approval- only if you were not half-siblings grown under the same family, dined at the same table, always together, called the same parents father and mother, called me big brother while we did our best to protect you two…"

"…" Evan and Laura stared at Davis, their expressions pained, even ashamed.

"… even from yourselves…"

Davis heaved a breath, disappointingly looking up at the skies before lowering his gaze and staring at them.

"Any excuses?"

Evan still had the heart to smile wryly, "We have plenty but none… we know we did an action that greatly costs the reputation of the family, yet- we found ourselves more important."

"…" Davis breathed in heavily, "I still have to ask."

"Was there some kind of accident involved?"

"There was…" Evan sighed lightly, "But we still would've done it regardless. That's why I have no excuses. I don't want to be hypocritical, so off with my head and spare Laura, big brother."

"No! I was the one who… cough… seduced him! Spare him!" Laura could barely speak, her voice still strained.

She looked at Davis pleadingly.

Davis stared at them coldly before crouching, coming to their eye level.

"Are you two of the plan if you admit your mistakes and ask to spare each other, that I will spare you both?"

"…" Evan and Laura's gaze shook.

Davis's cold expression into a cold smile, "There's some hope in your heart… You two know your big brother very well. As expected of my little siblings, scheming little rats just like me."

"…"

They both lowered their heads, ashamed and unwilling to look Davis in the eye.

Not only was he too scary, but they couldn't bring themselves to argue against him since their entire cultivation was thanks to him and his wives. Therefore, they felt that the only way out of this was to admit their mistakes when found and beg to spare the other, hoping to be forgiven or spared.

They didn't know if their great big brother would let them go, but they didn't care if they died for each other as well, since they were still unapologetic and felt what they did was right for them.

They were hoping that they would be…

"You two want to be exiled? How cute."

Evan and Laura raised their heads in shock, only to turn in opposite directions.

*Paah~* *Paah~*

Davis's right hand moved to slap Evan's left cheek, and with the back of his hand, he slapped Laura's right cheek.

The resounding slaps momentarily stopped their swirling thoughts and worries, and a stinging pain replaced them, carrying it into the silence.

Laura bit her lips, shedding more tears as she cried silently.

Evan didn't dare rub his cheek to alleviate the pain. He still didn't want to see his big brother's disappointed expression.

"…"

Davis hated this- he hated having to discipline them for real.

There was nothing one needed to say about Evan. He was a good kid, well-mannered and hard-working.

As for Laura, she was also a good child, mostly keeping to herself when she was small, but as she grew, she became more explosive. He heard that not many interacted with her, leading her to become isolated and choose to spend time with Evan.

Naturally, everyone thought it was a good thing. They could protect and look after each other like he did for Clara and Edward did for Diana, and now Diana was in a happy marriage with Wayn Nolan, but who thought these two would've crossed the line?

Regardless, Laura had always held him in regard and respected him the most among his siblings from a young age, probably Mother Nora's teachings to respect him as the first and the greatest, but now, she was full of fear and shame towards him.

'Yet… she's still as unapologetic as Evan… they… really… really want to be together enough to die…'

Having never faced such a situation before, Davis was at a loss.

Neither of them hated him. If Evan at least planned to take this silently, then Laura was something else. She basically wanted to die by attacking him and directing killing intent at him. He felt Laura wasn't as confident or hopeful in their plan and basically wanted to die in Evan's stead by provoking him.

'Just because she's Mother Nora's child… she thought I would kill her first rather than Evan…?'

Davis inwardly sighed, just wanting to turn around and walk away to leave them be and wash his hands of them as they wanted, yet he couldn't.

Davis moved forward as he knelt and wrapped his arms around them, hugging them.

"Exile won't happen. If this family ever gets exterminated, you're going down with us and be glad that if I manage to save everyone, you two would be the last on my list."

"…"

Evan finally teared up, feeling death was a better solace than hearing these unfamiliar words.

Needless to say, Laura squeaked and broke down on the spot, feeling miserable as she hid her face in her palms, not letting her sinful tears soak her big brother's robe.
