Chapter 4972 Guidance?
Evan's lips quivered, barely stopping himself from crying, while Laura's cries were on full blast.
It rang in his ears, making him feel exhausted and just wait for someone to cut his head off.
There were no amount of words he could say.
There were no words he could offer to quell the anger in everyone's hearts, much less his big brother's, for he understood he had betrayed everyone else's expectations of him when he chose Laura.
The hug his brother gave him, as though comforting, even though there was no warmth, just made him feel chilled to the core. In his opinion, getting thrashed around still felt better.
He supposed he was no longer alive for his big brother in his mind, just a walking husk that was once his little brother.
Davis finally let them go and stood up, moving back a bit before gazing at them.
"There are no laws against what you've done, so no crime has been committed, but everyone knows what should be done and what should not be done. Since you don't want to talk to me, talk to your father and mothers. Let's see if they spare you two."
"Wait, please don't tell them…!" Evan reached out with his hand, his body still trembling from the punch.
Davis stopped to turn his face, looking at them from the corner of his eyes.
"You honestly think you can hide this matter until your death?"
"No… I don't have any face to see them, and I doubt they would want to see mine… I'm ashamed. It would be better to die or just be exiled."
"Coward… you had the nerve to sleep with Laura when you're this afraid? But that makes sense, considering she claims to have seduced you."
Davis turned towards them as he coldly mocked them before staring.
"What if this matter had been found out by our parents before I did?"
Evan shook his head, "Big brother has a lot of informants. There was no way we could avoid your oversight, even if we were to convince ourselves into thinking we hid our tracks well. We knew the moment you came back would be our moment of reckoning."
Davis's sapphire eyes flickered, "So did you two wish that I was dead instead?"
"How can that be!?"
"No…!"
Evan and Laura both hurriedly denied, their expressions horrified at the mention of his death.
Davis's expression didn't change, but it eased his heart greatly. At least, they weren't crazy enough for each other that they started thinking of getting rid of everyone else in order to be together.
Recently, fate has been screwing over in strange ways, and he felt like he should be wary of everything.
'You two got caught by a child who has an abnormally powerful soul… talk about being unlucky…'
He inwardly shook his head, knowing this was also a wave that was created from the fate bubble that was Lydia. If she had been hostile and used this information to play her cards right, who knew how disastrous this could end for the Loret Family?
"Big brother, please believe us." Evan clenched his fists, "We had no such thoughts…! We deeply wished for your return. You are our hope, the one who carried this family to greater heights. I have learned our history and know of our humble origin. Without you, we would still be a family that isn't even worth a single consideration in the Upper Realms, much less the First Haven World."
Laura also echoed, "Even without it, we always had deep respect for you. We wouldn't wish you any harm even if you were to judge us."
"Stabbing with that spear right through my head with the intent to kill me… yeah, right…" Davis sneered.
"…" Laura was at a loss for words as her cheeks turned red from shame.
She was well aware Davis would be able to easily defend against it, but she had no words to defend herself, as she did indeed intend to harm him in order to get his attention on herself and, hopefully, die so that Evan could be spared.
Without her, who committed what incest? Laura? Who was that?
She didn't exist.
She hoped for such a verdict and hoped that her mother Nora, could forget about a sinful woman like her.
She was sure that her big brother could erase everyone's memories if he wanted to, make her disappear.
"…"
Meanwhile, Davis felt a bit touched by their emotions.
He had his Heart Intent active from the beginning, and their praises of him weren't empty words nor a way to bootlick him into forgetting their actions, much less forgiving them. They both wished to die yet also survive this ordeal, not intending to make any excuses since they themselves were aware of what they did and what it means yet still chose to do so.
"Sit…"
Davis summoned a round table for three and three chairs. He unceremoniously took his seat and gestured for them to do so too, causing them to look at each other before they helped themselves up and moved to sit.
Laura was about to move her chair closer to Evan, but Davis glared at her into sitting on the place he designated for her.
Davis sighed openly, "You two- if you don't give me any explanations, I can't help you."
"Big brothe-"
"Shut up!"
Evan's eyes lit up when he was harshly rebuked, causing him to lower his head.
Laura felt fortunate that she didn't make a reaction, but she was secretly delighted that her big brother would at least consider helping them.
Davis glared at the two of them, his expression stern.
"Giving explanations isn't the same as making excuses. I'm not stupid enough to be unable to tell the difference between the two. Tell me what happened, and I'll decide whether to tell this to our parents, but punishment is a given. Be prepared for it."
"…" Evan and Laura looked at each other, appearing worried.
"What? You two don't even have the power to protect yourselves, yet you two want to do something so daring?"
"We'll accept your guidance." They quickly said in sync.
Davis harrumphed as he turned to look away, appearing unwilling.
Dealing with this matter was so difficult and uncomfortable.
He took a good look at Laura, finally looking at her figure.
She had grown explosively from the time he had seen her to the point he almost couldn't recognize her. Dressed in a similar emerald robe as Evan, she possessed black hair and sapphire eyes like her father, but her facial features closely resembled those of her Mother Nora, so she looked like a conniving villainess.
After all, even Nora and his Niera looked quite villainous, even though one was arrogant and prideful, and the other was gentle yet still showed her pride in certain places.
He doubted his innocent Evan would be able to handle a seduction move from her, especially when they liked each other very much.
"That day… I was practicing alchemy and had to go through what every man had to go through…"
"…" Davis nearly reeled back, knowing what was coming as he could guess.
