Logging into Boundless again after this long week, the Evil Trio reappeared on the Morningstar World's central plane in the void, specifically within Draco's crafting chamber in Eva's castle, where he was holed up working on his Tradeskills before being dragged out to handle the World Council's nonsense.
Before they had time to catch up with what they were doing prior, the details of update 4 came smashing right into their faces. Looking at it, the Evil Trio were simultaneously amused, shocked and intrigued.
We already knew that the butterfly effect had basically knocked all common sense out of the window after about update 2, but this was taking it a step further! They had arrogantly thought that they couldn't be surprised anymore by anything after Update 3, but it turns out that the AI took that as a challenge!
In Update 1, the AI had added the first layers of realism to Boundless and opened the gateway to competitive structure with Guild Wars. Back then, players were like miniature nuclear reactors, able to function day and night without rest or recuperation!
Update 1 promptly stopped that nonsense with its 'big fist of justice', making it so that players now had to now manage hunger, thirst, sleep, and hygiene, along with no longer being able run endlessly without stamina loss.
Tsk tsk, to think that back then Edgelord Draco had to use this trick to run straight from Stagnant Moss Town and Cario City all the way to Richmond's Hovel and then to the former Paradise Lands Area Zone which was now the core location of Vita Divine Empire.
Aside that, in Update 1, techniques were formally separated from skills and given dedicated development space via Training Halls, while gear could now take durability damage and required actual repairs from blacksmith NPCs or players.
Economic trade between the game and outside was enhanced through the Intermediary Trade Center allowing one to not only sell coins for real money, but also sell equipment and items. This was kind of a big deal back then as even Draco wasn't yet rich enough to easily trade money and only ever traded items for real cash that the Purgatory Group now had in spades and that the former World Council tried to steal, leading to the whole fiasco just now.
Aside that, player guilds were finally given text and voice chat systems to coordinate properly during battle as dungeons and low tier raids were becoming tedious without being able to talk well during a fight.
You think retardation was a one time thing? There were countless Leeroy Jenkins in the world, so without a firm hand to control them, they would naturally go wild!
After that, Update 2 deepened the rapid changes of Boundless World by introducing Kingdom Wars for those looking to expand their territory and Tier 2 Realism, which added spell backlash if you got interupted or made mistakes while using both skills and spells and emotional satisfaction requirements, like happiness, lust and such.
The early form of livestreaming came in allowing players to record gameplay with the Video Capture System and export on their shitty 4 views youtube channels, while guilds and parties got video chat for better synergy, though most used it for facetime while in the wild.
It was said that some enterprising fellows even organized titanic orgies using the video chat feature!
How debaucherous! How evil!
Quickly send me those videos so that I may condemn them for such wickedness!
Of course, given that this update was after the famous Boundless vs the World, there were many more 'anti-rape' and 'anti-player' measures implemented.
The premier of this was the notorious Anti-Abuse NPC Law that was introduced, punishing players who committed crimes against NPCs!
It was still quite a big shock to people when they found out that NPCs could not commit certain evils unto players, only players could do that to pother players and NPCs. Not only did it greatly kill the Anti-Glorygore sentiment back then, but it also made people realize the darkness of human nature.
But even worse than the notion of abuse, the AI actually dared to add a lottery gacha system to devour wallets!
If this wasn't bad enough, the Growth Weapon EXP abuse that Draco and Riveting Night relied to power up the Eye of Heaven and Fragarach was cruelly patched, forcing all those that came after to actually work for their exp!
Beneficially though, Grandmaster slot limits were raised because Draco had just come out of the Refinement Treasury and was about to take the world by storm, so the AI wisely decided to give him more space to work.
Finally, the AI's legal contract system was reinforced to prevent exploitation, as many players simply signed agreements in game and then proceeded to fuck off in real life, making it such that the contracts became waste paper, especially those signed with NPCs.
Since the NPCs were just the AI's schizo personalities, that meant that you were duping the AI!
Hehe, when had this digital young miss ever suffered a loss, except for matters involving Draco? Naturally, any loopholes were closed with thunderous might, and those who ran away paid a hefty price!
Then there was the recent game changing Update 3 was where everything officially went off the rails.
Because of the infusion of Hyperion and Oceanus' Pseudo-Origin Sources into the AI's core, it introduced mechanics that weren't supposed to appear until years later, like Item Projection, which was the feature that allowed players to materialize game items in real life.
In fact, Item Projection was precisely a feature of Update 4, and should have come with this update!
Whether it was in Update 4 back then or Update 3 now, it still took both timelines by storm and that storm has not subsisted until now. More than the feedback mechanic, which was barely noticeable for anyone who was not a high rank with absurd stats, it was the presence of Item Projection that made people round the world believe Draco's claim of using Boundless to empower them.
Another miscreant who had snuck into an earlier update was the Genetic Compatibility feature, which caused chaos in the previous timeline with the emergence of the Great Rape Event. This troublesome fellow was supposed to come with Update 5, when pods were normalized, but due to the butterfly effect and the positive outcome of Boundless Vs The World compared to the previous timeline, pods were more available than they were previously.
So the AI saw fit to bring this forward, especially since Draco and Umbra got it early using tricks, making the playerbase endlessly envious and desirous of this feature. Even now, this feature was the most utilized in the game, as almost everyone who could have a harem or clan had done so.
As for the Great Rape? Well, it was not really possible anymore since the reason for it was players competing with each other in terms of territories, needing to raise the population rapidly. Since they had difficulty convincing NPCs to migrate, they decided to 'make' their own denizens at all costs, lading to tragedy!
But how could such a thing occur in this timeline where almost every area on the map was own by Umbra and Vita Divine Empire?
Player territories? Don't make me laugh. There likely isn't even a player settlement in existence, as players were forced to merge into the Vita Divine Empire system in order to survive.
Interestingly, the Marriage System of Update 5 in the previous timeline was also added to this timelines' Update 3, under the AI's naive assumption that love would guide players.
Hehe!
There was also friendly fire that became a thing under Tier 3 Realism, forcing AOE spammers like Rina to actually have to calculate their moves first.
There was also the much used and very familiar Event Generation which had allowed powerful players like Draco, Elle and many others generate world-altering events and even provide the rewards head-on. In fact, the current Supreme Human League World Event was riding off the back of that addition.
Back then, during Update 3, a new change was added in the form of the World Map being expanded by twice its size, dragging in new threats for the players to face because Vita had almost conquered everything back then.
The part that really got players weeping, mourning and gnashing their teeth was that item drop rates were reduced across the board to force reliance on Tradeskill crafting rather than farming in the wild, also to stimulate the player economy.
Finally, stat resource quantification began with visible Mana and Stamina values, exposing just how wide the gap was between regular players and monsters like the Evil Trio.
And now, Update 4.
First off, there was the Supreme Human Charter, which had been drafted by the Evil Trio in reality for both the real world and for Boundless, and its tenets were quite simple.
「The Supreme Human League Charter
Enacted under divine authority by the Triumvirate Sovereigns: His Majesty the God King Draco, Her Grace the Celestial Goddess Eva, and Her Eminence the Divine Empress Shuangtian.
Article I: Primacy of Species
The species known collectively as the Chaotic Human Race of Terra, herein recognized as lawful descendants of the Gerdo Galaxy Pure Human Lineage, shall henceforth be deemed the Favored Species of the Universe. The Chaotic Human Race shall hold perpetual, irrevocable dominion and sovereignty over all sapient, semi-sapient, and non-sapient entities within the known and unknown universe. This dominion shall not require renewal, validation, or justification, and shall remain in effect for all time unless revoked by the original Founding Triumvirate.
Article II: Subordination of Non-Human Species
All Non-Human species, regardless of their level of intelligence, cultural maturity, or territorial claims, shall be subject to the absolute decrees, rulings, and whims of the Chaotic Human Race. Willful non-compliance, obstruction, or dereliction of obedience shall be considered an act of Universal Treason and shall be punishable by summary execution without trial, appeal, or diplomatic mediation. The authority mentioned herein refers solely to the collective institutions of the Chaotic Human Race and does not grant extrajudicial privileges to individual members unless such authority is explicitly conferred.
Article III: Territorial Sovereignty and Access Control
All recognized territories, holdings, safe zones, instances, and colonies of the Chaotic Human Race are hereby designated as Protected Human Settlements. Access to these zones by any Non-Human individual, group, organization, or entity shall require formal clearance issued by an authorized representative of the Supreme Human League. Unauthorized entry, trespass, or observation shall be met with forceful expulsion or termination, at the discretion of the presiding Human Authority.
Article IV: Jurisprudence and Legal Immunity
No Non-Human individual, consortium, civilization, or interstellar body may initiate legal or arbitrative proceedings against a Chaotic Human individual without first receiving a sanctioned review and dismissal waiver from the Judiciary Division of the Supreme Human League. Any breach of this protocol shall be treated as a slanderous defamation of species-level integrity, and subject to retaliatory legal nullification or military intervention.
Article V: Administrative Precedence
In all mixed-species settlements, colonies, planets, zones, or administrative units wherein the Chaotic Human Race is co-located with other species, absolute administrative precedence shall be granted to the Chaotic Human Race. This includes, but is not limited to, positions of governance, military command, economic regulation, cultural oversight, and legislative authorship.
Article VI: Enforcement and Interpretation
The interpretation of this Charter lies solely with the Founding Triumvirate or their duly appointed successors. All decisions derived from such interpretations shall be final, binding, and not subject to external appeal. The Supreme Human League reserves the right to amend, expand, or enforce this Charter without prior notice, subject only to the Triumvirate's will. Obstruction, satire, or critique of this Charter by any species not holding human ancestry above 90% purity shall be considered an act of philosophical rebellion and met with mandatory psychological reconditioning or exile.
Article VII: Eternal Validity
This Charter shall take effect immediately across all digital, physical, metaphysical, and transdimensional planes connected to the Boundless Universe and shall remain in force until the end of universal time or formal revocation by unanimous consent of the Triumvirate.」
