Chapter 1256: Disappearance
The other elder nodded and sent out a fearsome wave of lightning.
Boom!!
Souta simply watched everything while protecting Fadu. He could see that the red whale was stronger than the City Lord, but this wasn’t a one-on-one battle. Two of the four elders had joined the fight, greatly pressuring the red whale.
’Should I save him?’ he wondered.
If he saved the red whale, he wasn’t one hundred percent sure that it would submit to him.
In the end, Souta shook his head and pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind.
It wasn’t time yet.
He continued watching the battle.
Three figures moved with intense energy fluctuations, the City Lord and the two elders. Ahead of them, the water churned violently, a crimson ripple spreading in every direction. The gigantic red whale shot through the water with great momentum.
Boom!!
The City Lord and the two elders clashed fiercely against the red whale. Their combined might slowly overwhelmed the fearsome monster that had ruled the Sea Fiend Cave for decades. Under their relentless assault, the red whale’s movements grew erratic, slower and more desperate.
One of the elders stabbed the red whale in the head. Then, the City Lord swam around it, sending dozens of sharp energy blades.
Seeing this, Souta closed his eyes and said, "It’s the end."
He knew that the red whale was going to die at the hands of the City Lord and the two elders.
"Next..." he muttered to himself.
Noises erupted as the onlookers cheered. Their voices echoed, praising the might of the City Lord and the Rulman Household.
"Ars is dead!!"
"The City Lord and the Rulman Household killed him!!"
"The Sea Fiend Cave is done!!"
The crowd continued to cheer as the forces of the City Lord and the Rulman Household eliminated the rest of the monsters from the Sea Fiend Cave. It was an overwhelming victory for them.
The eastern gate was taken back.
The battle had only lasted half an hour.
Souta descended beside Fadu.
Fadu had just finished his battle. His breathing was heavy, and there were a few injuries on his body.
He noticed Souta’s presence, so he turned his head and asked, "Did I do great?"
Clearly, he was expecting praise, but Souta shattered his expectations.
"Quite bad. You need a few more battles before you become decent." Souta paused before pointing above. "Never mind your performance, the City Lord and the elders are here."
Fadu followed Souta’s line of sight and saw the City Lord along with the elders entering through the eastern passage.
They had won the battle. Though he wasn’t that useful, at the very least, he had done his best fighting his opponents. He also knew that Souta had protected him a few times when someone above his level tried to kill him.
Suddenly, a person flew toward the four elders, breathing heavily as he said, "Elders, the Rulman Household has been attacked!!"
"What?!!!"
The expressions of the four elders changed, and their energy erupted like a volcano, shaking the entire area. Their killing intent enveloped every living being.
Everyone heard the voice of the person who had arrived.
In the next second, the four elders shot through the air, heading in the direction of the Rulman Household.
"Huff..."
The crowd breathed in relief. The energy of the four elders had nearly suffocated them. They barely felt it during the battle, as two of the elders were containing the aftershocks, but now they could personally feel the heavy energy like a boulder pressing on their shoulders.
"The Rulman Household was attacked again?!!"
"What??!"
"So the Sea Fiend Cave was just a diversion!!"
The crowd chatted among themselves.
The Rulman Household really had a lot of enemies. They were being targeted now that they had suffered huge casualties from the traitors. They weren’t as strong as before, but still, several elders remained to protect the household from any danger.
"Atos!! We should go now!!" Fadu said, his voice filled with concern.
"Yeah." Souta nodded with a serious look.
He flicked his finger and controlled the gravity around Fadu. In the next second, he shot through the air, following the four elders.
Whooosh!!
Before long, Souta and Fadu arrived outside the Rulman Household. They could see the gigantic barrier covering the entire estate flickering. Smoke rose from different houses as many buildings had fallen to the ground. Corpses were scattered across the streets, and the stench of blood lingered in the air.
"W-What...?!" Fadu turned pale upon seeing the state of the Rulman Household.
Souta looked down, and when the barrier dimmed, he forcefully entered with Fadu.
"I can feel intense energy fluctuations. It seems that the attackers aren’t weak," Souta said.
The battle had already passed, yet the destruction it caused was tremendous. Numerous people had perished.
Soon, Souta and Fadu arrived at the main mansion.
The main mansion was still standing, but it was full of holes. Ceilings and walls had collapsed, and smoke was rising from the corners.
Souta and Fadu could see the elders standing above the mansion. Their expressions were gloomy, and their killing intent was overflowing from their bodies.
"What happened?!" one of the four elders who had participated in the battle against the Sea Fiend Cave asked.
"Dihra returned with the Kraken Clan..."
"What?!!"
"The Kraken Clan...?!!"
The four elders widened their eyes in shock. Their bodies trembled as the name of the Kraken Clan echoed in their minds.
The Kraken Clan didn’t come from the Tarrant Nation. Instead, it was a massive force from the Bodam Kingdom, one of the three nations of the Depths of Banquet.
"How did Dihra manage to get the help of the Kraken Clan?"
"I don’t know." An elder turned his head and pointed toward the southern part of the land, where a three-hundred-meter-tall kraken corpse lay sprawled. "That’s the corpse of Kras’ah, the Grand Elder of the Kraken Clan. The Matriarch killed him."
Kras’ah had fallen here, an Advanced Fifth Stage monster. A being of that level shouldn’t have died so easily. The Kraken Clan had suffered a tremendous loss...
But so had they.
Why?
"The Matriarch has disappeared," Wresho said.
No one spoke.
The air grew heavy.
A chilling silence spread across the battlefield, pressing down on everyone like an unseen force.
The four elders who had just arrived were shocked. This situation was far beyond their expectations.
"The enemy this time is too powerful. They were like immortals. Their wounds could regenerate rapidly, making them extremely difficult to kill," another elder said.
There had been eleven elders left after Dihra’s betrayal incident. Now, only eight remained. Three elders had perished in the battle, greatly weakening the Rulman Household. Even their Matriarch, the strongest expert, had disappeared without a trace.
They couldn’t even find Freida’s body, leaving them uncertain whether she had survived or perished.
The remaining elders exchanged glances, their expressions heavy. The devastation before them made one thing clear that the Rulman Household could no longer afford further losses.
Without hesitation, they reached a unanimous decision. The entire territory would be locked down, and news of Freida’s disappearance would be suppressed. If word got out, the consequences would be catastrophic. Numerous forces would undoubtedly move to devour them at the first opportunity.
The elders acted swiftly. Formations across the territory were reinforced, energy barriers thickened, and the borders were sealed shut. The space around the Rulman Household became tightly controlled.
No one was allowed to leave or enter without the direct permission of the elders.
A quiet but undeniable pressure settled over the territory not just from the enemy outside... but from the uncertainty within.
...
In an unknown place.
Dihra gritted his teeth in anger. His body was covered in wounds, his blood flowing into the waters. His energy was unstable as he suffered heavy injuries from the battle.
"That Freida!! She’s too strong!! She killed Kras’ah!!"
He couldn’t help but tremble when he recalled the battle just now. Freida had slaughtered Kras’ah and the other powerful experts he had brought with him.
The Rulman Household had been weakened, and four of their elders had gone to subjugate the Sea Fiend Cave, yet they still failed to take down the household.
It was all because of Freida.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed above him.
Dihra lifted his head and saw a figure floating above, looking down at him with cold eyes.
Before he could say anything, the figure raised his hand, and a tremendous amount of energy erupted.
"Why?!"
Dihra roared before a large energy blade slammed into his body. He was weakened from the battle, so he couldn’t exert one hundred percent of his strength. He couldn’t even conjure a barrier to protect himself.
"I..."
The figure didn’t let him utter another word as it appeared in front of Dihra. Its body transformed, and detached spider-like limbs drilled into Dihra’s body.
Boom!!
A huge explosion resounded.
When the dust settled in the waters, only Souta remained standing. Dihra’s body had been scattered across the waters.
