Chapter 1324: Great Shen Empire: Sovereign Rune Formation

A single Holy Land housed more than twenty higher beings yet even that wasn’t enough to control the entire continent. Those were the numbers of higher beings known to the public, but Souta knew that many more existed within Holy Lands, Great Countries, and other powerful factions that chose to remain hidden.

Souta shook his head and pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind. He could compare them later, but for now, he had something else to settle first.

Boom!!

He increased his pace and shot toward the central region.

He had been traveling for quite some time, and the Great Shen Empire was still incredibly far away.

The entire central region was enveloped by some sort of formation that allowed it to float above the ground. This enormous piece of land hanging in the sky shocked everyone in the surrounding area, be they monsters or humans.

They all stared at the floating land, wondering what could have caused such a phenomenon.

What sort of being could do something like this?

The experts in the central region felt it. They didn’t need to search for the edge to know that the entire landmass had been lifted into the sky.

In one of the cities, Shen Yao exchanged fearsome blows with a man who called himself Voltarion.

Bang! Bang!

"What are you really planning? What are your goals?"

Shen Yao asked while throwing extremely fast jabs through the air. Each jab generated a shockwave that shot toward her opponent.

Voltarion charged forward, allowing those shockwaves to collide with his body. He didn’t even bother avoiding such measly attacks.

"Hahaha!! We just wanted to find something here, but it wouldn’t show up, so we had no choice but to force it out!"

His laughter echoed throughout the city.

Shen Yao frowned upon hearing his words. She continued to distance herself while thinking about the Gluttony Army’s plan.

From the scale of the damage, this wasn’t a simple operation. Were they trying to make a comeback? The Ruler of Gluttony had fallen, and ordinary God-rank beings wouldn’t be able to make up for that loss.

While she was fighting in this city, the other cities were suffering relentless attacks from the remaining members of the Gluttony Army. More than ten of those cities had already been reduced to dust, and countless people had perished.

The people felt hopeless. They felt that nothing could save them from this tragedy.

Despair.

Several kilometers above the ground, just below the clouds, two figures stood in the air, looking down at the chaos engulfing the central region.

"Thousand Earth, how long do you think the formation can maintain its energy?"

A tall man with dark brown skin, yellowish scales on his neck, and silver-colored armor asked the question.

He was one of the leading figures in this operation, Kers Time.

"About one hour..." Thousand Earth replied, his gaze focused on the Royal Capital.

The formation would lose its power soon, and they had to find their target as quickly as possible. It covered the entire central region, isolating it from the ground, and was equipped with powerful sensors spread throughout the area. Everyone who entered or left this land would be detected by every member of the Gluttony Army.

There was no way for anyone to secretly leave this place.

They were confident in the formation’s capabilities because it had been left behind by the Ruler of Gluttony. Not even God-rank entities could escape its sensors.

The only thing they needed to do was force that spirit out.

However, the central region was so vast that finding her would be extremely difficult. They couldn’t afford to search while concealing their presence, so they would simply do things the way they always had.

Their wide-range detection had sensed over a hundred million lifeforms in the region, but they had no way to distinguish the spirit from the others unless they saw her with their own eyes. They possessed neither a precise detection technique nor artifacts capable of tracking her.

They only knew that the spirit had hidden here after the incident back then.

Perhaps if it had been before the Imperium increased its mana density and strengthened the laws, they would have been able to find her easily.

"She should still be here... We can’t leave that thing to her," Thousand Earth muttered.

Thousand Earth and Kers suddenly turned their heads. They felt several people enter the formation’s detection range.

Thunder echoed across the sky, and blue lightning flashed through the clouds.

"This is no ordinary foe... The energy signature doesn’t belong to that woman, so it must be one of those who just entered the formation." Thousand Earth said in annoyance.

If they had enough energy, they would be able to use the full capabilities of the [Sovereign Rune Formation]. Unfortunately, the formation required an enormous amount of energy to operate. It would take an entire mine of high-grade mana stones to power it.

If they could do that, they would be able to fully isolate this region, no, this entire empire, and locate the spirit within seconds.

"Then you can leave finding that spirit to me," Thousand Earth said.

"I know... While I’m fighting, I’ll try to kill as many as I can so that you’ll have an easier time finding her." Kers nodded.

Thousand Earth looked down at the ground once again. His senses were connected to the formation, allowing him to sense every lifeform in the central region. Many of those lifeforms had already disappeared, while some were running and others were fighting.

’Those who aren’t moving and remain in the same place are suspicious... There’s a group fifteen kilometers away in the mountains. Probably a group of monsters hiding in their nest, but that doesn’t mean the spirit couldn’t be hiding there. Kers’ subordinates will reach that place soon after they eliminate the population of the city they’re in.’

The central region was too vast, and there were too many humans, monsters, and demis living there. Eliminating all of them would take time. If they still hadn’t found the spirit after wiping out the entire population, then the spirit must have already left.

Suddenly, the air trembled as immense pressure washed over the entire area.

Thousand Earth snapped out of his thoughts and turned his head to the side. He saw a flash of blue light rushing toward them at a speed that surpassed even light itself.

Kers frowned and raised his hand. He made a simple slashing motion through the air.

It looked slow, but it was incredibly fast.

The entire atmosphere boiled in an instant as tremendous force erupted from Kers’ body.

Boom!!

A bluish energy shot forth, colliding with the incoming blue light.

The collision created intense friction in the air, sending sparks of energy in every direction and shaking the very fabric of space.

Kers and Thousand Earth remained calm as the shockwave from the collision brushed over their bodies. Their robes and sleeves fluttered, while their hair danced wildly in the fearsome gust of wind.

After a moment, a smile formed on Kers’ face.

"Truly, a formidable expert has arrived," he said.

When the smoke dissipated, the figure was revealed.

It was a woman with a chubby build, fair skin, and long bluish hair tied neatly at the back of her head. She was clad in a simple traditional white and red robe from the Immortal Land.

"Really... It seems that Seventh Head was right. There’s going to be a big incident here."

The woman spoke while observing Kers Time and Thousand Earth.

With just a glance, she could instantly determine that these two experts were formidable. The pressure they exuded was unreal.

"What is really happening here?" she asked.

Kers raised his eyebrows, an amused smile appearing on his face. Even Thousand Earth’s interest was piqued by the unknown woman’s words.

"You came here without knowing the danger?" Kers asked with a smile.

"How should I know? You people haven’t told anyone what you’re doing here." The woman spread her arms helplessly.

"Oh, how could I forget? We should just announce our goal so that everyone will know that the Gluttony Army is here, right?" Kers said sarcastically.

"I didn’t even know about the Gluttony Army. I just heard that there would be trouble here, so... you know, I came here to assist someone in stopping this chaos. That’s why I arrived in time," the woman replied.
