Chapter 1325: Great Shen Empire: I’m still alive
Kers stopped smiling, and his expression turned serious.
"Who are you? And how do you know that there will be trouble here?"
He had already judged that this woman wasn’t a member of any major faction in the Immortal Land.
"Ehe, you finally wiped that smug look off your face, Kers Time. A powerful combatant of the Gluttony Army who can command tens of thousands of lower-circle officers. You reached the Ninth Shackle Realm half a year ago and possess an extremely rare time affinity. If the Ruler of Gluttony hadn’t fallen, you probably would’ve received his blessing and replaced one of the other Heroes."
The woman paused briefly before continuing.
"Well, then, I’m Xue Yi, the Eighth Head of the Dragon Council."
"Dragon Council? What’s that?"
It was Kers’ first time hearing about such an organization.
"Oh, you didn’t know? Hmm, I guess it’s probably because a lot of people thought it was destroyed." Xue Yi thought for a moment before shaking her head. "Anyway, is it okay for you to be chatting here with me? Aren’t you going to do anything?"
"I don’t have a problem with it since it’s favorable for us. While you’re here chatting with me, our subordinates are taking down one city after another. Before you even realize it, we’ve already completed our goal." Kers replied with a faint smile.
"Well, I’m waiting for someone too." Xue Yi smiled. "I’ve never seen him in action, so I’m quite curious to see how well he’ll fare against an opponent of your level."
As soon as she finished speaking, an immense energy fluctuation erupted.
The air suddenly distorted.
Kers Time and Thousand Earth instinctively turned their heads toward the Royal Capital.
The entire sky above the capital darkened as Best Feram surged through the heavens like a monstrous tide. The overwhelming energy descended upon the city, crushing buildings and forcing the ground to tremble beneath its pressure.
BOOM!!
A crimson bolt of lightning tore through the clouds.
It wasn’t simply falling from the sky.
It looked as though something had ripped open the heavens and hurled the lightning down from the other side.
The crimson lightning struck the capital.
The instant it made contact, the earth ruptured.
A violent shockwave exploded outward, pulverizing buildings and sending chunks of stone flying through the air. The ground beneath the impact point collapsed, while crimson arcs of lightning crawled across the streets like blood-red serpents, chewing through everything they touched.
The screams of countless people were drowned out by the deafening roar.
Even from several kilometers away, Kers could feel the impact through the soles of his feet.
The crimson lightning continued to writhe across the capital, tearing through the city as if it were alive.
"This is..."
Kers Time and Thousand Earth narrowed their eyes.
For the first time, the calm expressions on their faces disappeared.
...
A few moments earlier, in the Royal Capital...
Anti Mage unleashed a barrage of swift punches.
His fists blurred, striking one after another with almost no gap between them. Xi Xing hurriedly raised his arms to defend himself, managing to block the first few blows.
But the barrage was too fast.
One punch slipped through his guard.
Then another.
Bang!
A fist slammed into his face, snapping his head to the side.
Bang!
Another buried itself in his stomach, forcing the air from his lungs.
Bang! Bang!
His chest and liver were struck in rapid succession.
Xi Xing’s body was blasted backward, only for Anti Mage to close the distance and unleash another barrage.
His entire body was growing numb from the relentless beating.
Xi Xing knew how to fight in close combat, but compared to Anti Mage, who specialized in fighting at point-blank range, he was completely outmatched.
He was a textbook mage.
Close combat had never been his forte.
Worse, he couldn’t even cast the buff spells he normally relied on to enhance his strength and speed.
Anti Mage had completely suppressed his ability to form magic circles.
"Is this it? You’re going to die at this rate!!"
Anti Mage wore a wide, wicked grin as he rushed toward Xi Xing again. Immense energy swirled around both of his fists, distorting the air around them.
Xi Xing instinctively crossed his arms in front of his face.
The next instant,
BOOM!!
A fist smashed through his guard and slammed directly into his face.
Pain exploded through his skull.
His body shot backward like a cannonball, tearing through one structure after another in the Royal Capital. Walls collapsed beneath the impact, debris erupting into the air as his body continued plowing through the city.
BOOM!!
Xi Xing tore through the city walls and was sent rolling across the ground outside the capital.
He came to a stop several dozen meters away.
"Cough!"
Blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
Xi Xing forced himself to stand, his legs trembling beneath him. He slowly lifted his head and stared straight at the approaching Anti Mage.
The man’s wicked grin remained.
Suddenly, an immense wave of Best Feram descended from the heavens, suffocating the entire area.
It was followed by a crimson bolt of lightning tearing through the clouds.
Anti Mage and Xi Xing both looked up.
The lightning descended.
It was too fast.
Before Anti Mage could even react, the crimson lightning slammed into him like divine judgment from the heavens.
BANG!!
The ground exploded beneath the impact.
Soil and dust were blasted into the air, surging outward like a massive cloud and swallowing the surroundings. Cracks spread across the earth as the overwhelming force of the impact violently shook the area.
"Who is it?!!"
Xi Xing stared in disbelief.
Something had just crashed into Anti Mage.
And judging from the overwhelming Best Feram filling the atmosphere, whatever had arrived was no ordinary existence.
The dust slowly began to settle.
Xi Xing’s pupils contracted.
Anti Mage was lying in the crater, his body writhing in pain.
A sword clad in darkness had pierced straight through his chest and was driven deep into the ground beneath him.
And standing on the sword’s hilt was a figure.
For a moment, everything was silent.
Drip...
The sound of liquid striking metal echoed through the ruined battlefield.
Blood began to spread across the figure’s body.
It crawled over his limbs and torso, coating him from head to toe before hardening into dark crimson armor.
Clank! Clank!
Metallic sounds reverberated through the air.
Pieces of armor shifted and locked into place one after another, sparks flashing between the joints as the armor assembled itself around his body.
Then,
Shhk!
Four enormous spider-like limbs suddenly protruded from his back.
They detached from his body and floated beside him, suspended in the air by an invisible force.
The figure slowly shook his body.
The four spider limbs moved in perfect synchronization, spreading outward before aligning themselves behind him like a pair of grotesque wings.
Blood-colored electrical sparks crawled across their metallic surfaces.
Vzzzt!
White light suddenly gushed from the sides of the four limbs, illuminating the battlefield with a blinding radiance.
Xi Xing’s expression stiffened.
He could only stare at the mysterious figure standing atop the sword.
"Ugh!!! Blood Lightning Monster?!! You’re alive!!"
Anti Mage, still pinned to the ground, suddenly felt his blood run cold.
He recognized that energy.
That unmistakable, oppressive presence.
His eyes widened as he slowly raised his head.
Souta stood above him.
A dark sword protruded from Anti Mage’s chest, its blade buried deep inside his body and its tip driven into the ground beneath him. The weapon belonged to Souta, and one of Souta’s feet was firmly planted on its hilt, keeping Anti Mage pinned beneath him.
Dark crimson armor covered Souta’s entire body, and four grotesque spider limbs floated behind his back like the wings of some ancient predator. Crimson lightning crawled across their metallic surfaces, occasionally bursting into sparks that illuminated the surrounding ruins.
Yet Souta didn’t move.
He simply stood on the hilt of his own sword, looking down at the man he had just driven into the ground.
The overwhelming Best Feram radiating from his body pressed down on the surroundings, making even the air feel heavy.
Anti Mage swallowed hard.
"Blood Lightning Monster...?"
Souta lowered his head and looked at him.
There was no anger, excitement, or killing intent in his eyes.
Only an unsettling calm.
"You’re alive...?"
Anti Mage’s voice trembled slightly.
Souta stared at him for a moment before calmly replying,
"Why wouldn’t I be?"
His voice was quiet, almost indifferent.
"I’m still alive."
"You...!"
Anti Mage’s face twisted in disbelief.
He had thought the infamous Blood Lightning Monster had perished in that battle while being hunted by the Demon Army. He had heard that the monster was surrounded and forced into a desperate battle against overwhelming enemies.
Yet somehow...
He had survived.
And now, the monster was standing above him with his own sword driven through his chest.
Worse still was that Anti Mage could clearly sense the change in his aura.
The Blood Lightning Monster had evolved into the Fifth Stage.
His previous feats had already been absurd enough. He had once breached the gap between the Fourth Evolution Stage and the Fifth Evolution Stage, defeating a Fifth Stage monster while still being a Fourth Stage monster.
But that was the old Blood Lightning Monster.
The monster standing before him now was something else entirely.
