Chapter 3875: Dissipating Like Smoke

Chapter 3875: Dissipating Like Smoke

Lu Yin did not stop walking, but he replied in a calm voice, “I heard that Skyveil City’s three great clans are all enemies. However, it appears that that’s merely a show put on for others.”

“Skyveil City needs all three clans to protect it. None of them can be lost. I hope that you will show mercy, Mr. Lu,” Yu Jing replied.

Lu Yin said nothing and instead simply continued approaching the gate. He was only fifty meters away now.

Another voice reached him. This time, a woman spoke, and her tone was hard. “I am Jue Ling, matriarch of Skyveil City’s Jue family. I ask that you do not target the innocent, Mr. Lu. The Cheng family is the Cheng family, while Cheng Gong is Cheng Gong. The moment that both Cheng Gong and Old Yu left Skyveil City for the Spirit Nidus, they no longer belonged here.”

Lu Yin casually replied, “Are you trying to stop me because that’s really how you feel, or just to save face?”

“Both.” The two patriarchs answered in unison, making no attempt to hide their intentions.

Lu Yin finally stopped, though he was already standing before the gate. “You care about your reputation, but do I, Lu Yin, not care about mine as well?”

He then raised a hand and pressed it against the gate. The moment he made contact, the sky shook, and the ground quaked. Terrifying danger fields erupted everywhere. Just how horrifying was it to trigger eighty sourceboxes’ danger fields all at the same time?

People had always wondered how strong the Cheng family’s gate truly was, but no one had ever dared to test it.

Today, the truth was finally revealed.

The killing intent released at that moment caused many of the watching experts’ scalps to go numb, including even a few Dukkhans’.

Gan Mo’s eye twitched. While he believed that he could survive against such powerful danger fields, he knew that it would be absolutely impossible for him to push through it and force his way into the Cheng family’s estate. Could Lu Yin actually do it?

Just as Gan Mo was thinking about it, the gate shattered with a deafening crash.

Skyveil City fell silent.

Lu Yin had shattered the Cheng family’s gate with a single hand. That gate, which was supposed to represent the power of the city’s three great clans, which had been carved with eighty sourceboxes’ danger fields, had not even lasted a second.

With the gate broken, Lu Yin looked inside the estate. There were hundreds of thousands of cultivators standing before him, but the grounds did not appear to be crowded at all. The Cheng estate was enormous. Even if dozens of planets were tossed within, it still would not feel crowded.

However, these hundreds of thousands of people were all cultivators, and their auras filled the Cheng estate. Still, the moment that the gate was shattered, everyone in the estate felt crushed by Lu Yin’s presence. Nearly half of the people present spat out blood as they stared at the fallen gate in shock and fear.

Lu Yin’s attention instantly locked onto the old man standing at the center of the crowd. He was Baisha Tiancheng, the patriarch of the Cheng family.

At this moment, no one continued to try persuading Lu Yin.

He had already completely destroyed the Cheng family’s dignity. How could things end at this point? Yu Jing and Jue Ling both stared at the Cheng family’s shattered gate, realizing that Lu Yin was even more ruthless than what they had imagined.

Some people had claimed that the characters that Lu Yin had rained down upon the Nine Odysseys Megaverse were an attempt to provoke the megaverse, while others said that he only wished to integrate with them.

However, was he showing any hint of wanting to integrate into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse with his current attitude?

Cheng Gong had clearly been expelled from the Cheng family, so why did Lu Yin continue to insist on targeting the family?

Baisha Tiancheng stared at Lu Yin. When he spoke, his words came slow, and his voice was hoarse with age. “Welcome, Mr. Lu.”

Lu Yin met the old man’s gaze. “I’ve been meaning to pay your Cheng family a visit for quite some time.”

“My entire Cheng family welcomes you, Mr. Lu. May I ask what we can do for you?” Baisha Tiancheng’s tone was neither servile nor overbearing. Of the hundreds of thousands of cultivators present in the Cheng family’s estate, no matter if they were furious or terrified, no one dared to speak up.

Lu Yin moved forward, strolling into the Cheng family compound. His shoes crunched across the shattered fragments of the gate, including the broken character for “Cheng.”

“I’m curious. You lured me here, but why?”

From Ling Kui, Lu Yin had learned Cheng Gong was still hiding within the Cheng family. But... was that really true? It was absurd. Could the Cheng family, which was one of Skyveil City’s three great clans, allow someone like Ling Kui to learn of Cheng Gong’s whereabouts? If that were possible, Skyveil City did not deserve its reputation as the strongest faction in the West Domain.

How could someone like Ling Kui see through the movements of those who stood so far above him?

To Ling Kui, the Cheng family might as well be a gathering of gods.

Everything that Ling Kui had learned was a lie. Rather, it would be better to say that all the information across the West Domain related to Cheng Gong had been deliberately leaked by the Cheng family, just to ensure that, whenever the day that Lu Yin came looking for Cheng Gong, he would believe that the man was hiding within his family’s estate.

Lu Yin had indeed arrived, despite knowing that Cheng Gong was not present. Still, he was very curious as to why the Cheng family had wanted to lure him to their home.

What gave them the courage to lure Lu Yin in, and why did they want to draw him to them?

Cheng Gong had already fled, and the Cheng family had even swallowed their pride to publicly expel him from the family. It appeared as if the family had already paid a price, but it was all fake. It was as if they had deliberately humiliated themselves just to antagonize a powerful enemy. The entire situation made absolutely no sense.

Lu Yin wanted to learn both the Cheng family’s goal, as well as Cheng Gong’s location.

Karma: it ended with a karmic act.

A spiral of karma coiled around Lu Yin’s fingertips before shooting towards Baisha Tiancheng.

The man instinctively felt uneasy, but he could not dodge it. He had only managed to become a peak Dukkhan by accepting a Seed Transfusion. His combat power was even lower than Gan Mo’s, and he relied entirely on spirit treasure formations for defense. However, what spirit treasure formation could stop the power of karma?

Lu Yin saw Cheng Gong’s location.

He’s... there?

“What are you suggesting, Mr. Lu? You came here uninvited—what business do you have with my Cheng family?” Baisha Tiancheng’s voice betrayed his nervousness. He felt as if he had just been completely seen through. What had that sensation been? Had Lu Yin already attacked?

Lu Yin’s lips curled up to form a faint smile. “There is no such thing as truly unreasonable. Every unreasonable thing simply has a hidden aspect. Baisha Tiancheng, you released false information to lead me to believe that Cheng Gong was still hiding here. You lured me here. Why?”

The moment that Baisha Tiancheng heard Lu Yin’s words, the old man’s pupils shrank, and his entire demeanor shifted. His eyes blazed with a fierce killing intent. There was a deep boom as the ground of the Cheng family’s estate split open, and the light of multiple danger fields shot straight at Lu Yin from all directions. “Cheng family, attack!”

In an instant, twelve spirit treasure formations were carved into existence, their danger fields blotting out the sky.

Most of the hundreds of thousands of cultivators present in the Cheng family’s estate had not truly mastered the art of carving spirit treasures, but all of them still managed to unleash a sourcebox array. They used the carvings that their ancestors had etched into countless weapons.

Given the fact that the method of carving spirit treasure formations had been used on the family’s gate, it was only natural that it could also be used on weapons, clothing, books, and even the ground itself.

At that moment, the entire Cheng family released hundreds of sourcebox arrays, shaking all of Skyveil City. Even the Yu and Jue families were startled by the Cheng family’s brutal attack.

The sourceboxes’ danger fields blanketed the entire compound and then continued to spread out to envelop the whole city.

It looked as if the Cheng family was unleashing everything that they possessed in one instant. Everything was being thrown out once Baisha Tiancheng said “attack.”

If Lu Yin was honest, even he was stunned by this sudden attack. Just what had he said to incite such a violent reaction from Baisha Tiancheng? Clearly, the Cheng family had long since made preparations for this eventuality, as there was no other way they could have unleashed their full power so suddenly.

Hundreds of sourcebox arrays released their danger fields. Lu Yin had never seen this many sourcebox arrays in his entire life. At this moment, there were more in front of him than what he had encountered throughout his entire time living in the Tianyuan. The sight alone was enough to daze people.

No one knew what kind of power would emerge when so many sourcebox arrays’ danger fields overlapped and fused in such a manner.

Any time Lu Yin had played Stable Zone, the games had been played on a field of overlapping danger fields from multiple sourcebox arrays that formed an unpredictable game board. In the Tianyuan Megaverse, he had played against Mu Shang on a board formed from eight Boundless Advanced sourceboxes, and in the Spirit Nidus, he had played against Grandmaster Yu Ran with ten sourceboxes. He had never seen more be used.

Even if most of the sourcebox arrays here did not reach the power of a Boundless Advanced sourcebox, there were dozens that did. The danger fields were all fluctuating unpredictably. Even with his vision, Lu Yin could not find a solution. He believed that, out of all of humanity, unless Progenitor Hui had managed to become a peak Dukkhan or even an Immortal while staying on his lockbreaking path, no one could find an answer for such a mess.

Even ten overlapping Boundless Advanced sourceboxes would result in a tangled chaos that was practically impossible to unravel.

Everyone who was watching nearby was aghast. Cultivators from both the Yu and Jue families had stepped out, and they all stared on in shock.

“Never in Skyveil City’s history has so many powerful danger fields overlapped. Has the Cheng family gone mad?”

“They must be facing a truly desperate situation. There’s no other way they would ever go so far.”

Yu Jing’s eyes flickered as he stared at the Cheng family. Why? They went all out so quickly. Even if a battle broke out, there was no need to escalate things so quickly. Baisha Tiancheng, what are you thinking?

No one could understand Baisha Tiancheng’s thoughts.

Wind churned the sand above Skyveil City, but not even that could conceal the mysterious, overlapping danger fields. Starting from the city, the chaos spread out across the entire West Domain.

Wild wind full of sand was obliterated by the danger fields. Countless people looked up at the sky, terrified at what appeared to be the descent of divine punishment.

The sky... looked like it was collapsing down upon them.

In the Cheng family’s estate, Lu Yin stood in place as the terrifying danger fields assaulted his body. As the various sourcebox arrays overlapped and merged, their danger fields grew endlessly. Hundreds of sourcebox arrays did not merely mean hundreds of different danger fields, but rather a truly endless sea. The chaos would continue to morph and change until it finally stabilized.

So long as any instability remained, the danger fields would continue to churn and change.

Lu Yin was not the only one affected; in an instant, the Cheng family’s compound shattered. The hundreds of thousands of cultivators all fled as soon as they had released their carved sourcebox arrays, but many failed to retreat faster than the spreading danger fields. They were also caught up in the chaos, which instantly reduced them to ash.

Baisha Tiancheng relied on his cultivation to directly resist the spreading danger fields in an attempt to buy time for his people to escape. But even he could barely endure, and he coughed up blood, quickly looking miserable.

He continued to stare fixedly at the place where Lu Yin had been standing, the very center of the chaos, but he could not see clearly. What was happening? Was Lu Yin able to resolve the danger fields?

Suddenly, the sourceboxes’ merged danger field twisted, and everything started to converge towards the center. After that, an overpowering force formed a whirlpool out of the danger fields. The moment that happened, everyone was able to see Lu Yin again.

Both the people of the Cheng family and those watching from across Skyveil City were utterly stunned.

Lu Yin was completely unharmed.

Not only was he unharmed, but he was also warping the void with unbelievable force and simply overpowering all of the sourceboxes’ danger fields. He had folded them into a tornado that he then restrained in one hand. Brute force had compressed the danger fields, condensing them further and further until they had all gathered in his hand. The sky-sundering, earth-shattering tornado of danger fields became the center of the entire West Domain. Everyone stared on, dazed and unable to comprehend what level of power could possibly accomplish such a feat.

That danger field had been created from the merging and overlapping of hundreds of sourcebox arrays to create something completely uncontrollable. Even the Cheng family, who had unleashed it, was incapable of controlling such force.

Without outside intervention, Skyveil City itself would have been destroyed by the chaos, forever erased from the West Domain.

And yet, that terrifying danger field... was held in Lu Yin’s hand.

He looked at the Cheng family’s cultivators and clenched his fingers. Five black cracks extended out from his fingertips, slicing through everything and looking to tear the universe itself open. The sky shattered, and spatial tears shot out.

Finally, his fingers closed to form a fist.

There was the sound of a soft breeze, and the boundless danger field dissolved into a gentle wind that caressed everyone’s cheeks as it swept through Skyveil City and out across the West Domain.

Everything... dissipated like smoke.

The Cheng family’s estate was in utter ruins. Only the ground directly beneath Lu Yin’s feet was still intact.

For a moment, not a single person dared to make the slightest sound.

Even Baisha Tiancheng was dumbfounded.
