Star Odyssey

Chapter 3925: Garden

Chapter 3925: Garden

Lu Yin listened to the drum beat as he looked at the resolute expression on Qiunan Hongye’s face, who glared at the endless swarm of Allsenses without shrinking back. Lu Yin was not afraid, but he did not want to fight blindly, and he certainly had no desire to fall into someone’s trap.

However, Ming Zhuo’s words had also made it clear that Lu Yin could not leave even if he wanted to. Even if he forcibly dragged the Night Pillars back, it would ruin his plans of establishing himself in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

He had stunned the entire megaverse with his peerless might, and he had been hailed as the strongest beneath the Immortals. If he retreated in the Allsense Megaverse, it would be recorded as the most shameful moment in the megaverse’s entire history, and it would also become an eternal stain on his name.

The Nine Odysseys Megaverse? Yes, it was far too small. It was exactly like a giant lifting a child just to catch a glimpse of its enemies over the mountains, but there were too many. Every cultivator who had looked from Whither Peak into the Aevum Inch must have felt true despair after seeing how much more brutal the cosmos was compared to even the human megaverses.

“I’ve fought in many wars and lived through countless desperate battles, surviving them all,” Lu Yin stated as he looked back at Ming Zhuo and Yu. “That was because, back then, I was facing others who belonged to the Tianyuan Megaverse, and I was fighting for humanity.

“Today, I stand for the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. I don’t believe that this Allsense Megaverse can trap all of us here.”

Ming Zhuo laughed heartily. “Good! I’ve been waiting for you to say something. Given your strength, Junior Brother, this Allsense Megaverse is nothing.”

Yu praised, “Mr. Lu, although you are from the Tianyuan Megaverse and haven’t been in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse for very long, you’re still willing to fight for us. I deeply admire that attitude.”

It was not like Lu Yin had much of a choice. If possible, he would have preferred to drag these Night Pillars back to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Unfortunately, he was cornered.

“Usually, when foreign wars are as brutal as this one, an Immortal is sent as reinforcements. This time, you were sent, Junior Brother. I believe that you won’t let the Nine Odysseys down and that you’ll destroy this Allsense Megaverse,” Ming Zhuo said, feeling emboldened.

Lu Yin looked at the spatial passage. “Despite all of this fighting, we still don’t even know who our real enemy is. These Allsenses, those flowers—it’s possible that neither are the real threat. We should scout things out first.”

“We’ll go together. We can help you determine the flowers’ locations.”

“That’s right. It’d be best not to disturb the flowers. I’m not afraid of being surrounded, but I don’t want to let anything slip away.” Lu Yin nodded. Since he had made a decision, he would not hesitate.

The three left a set of instructions to the people on the Night Pillars, and Lu Yin specifically left a wireless jincan behind to maintain communication between them.

The wireless jincans were even able to communicate between parallel universes that had some sort of connection between them, provided that they were within the same megaverse. They were the most responsive communication tool Lu Yin had ever seen, even if they were unable to transmit sound or images.

Soon, the three men passed through the spatial passage and returned to the other universe.

“The Allsenses are converging. Prepare to attack,” Yu warned.

Lu Yin stopped the other two. “Don’t bother. Attacking would create too much of a disturbance. This time, we’re trying to investigate the situation, so don’t make any sound.”

But how could they deal with the Allsenses without attacking them?

As Ming Zhuo and Yu directed puzzled gazes his way, Lu Yin enveloped both of them with his consciousness. “Just calm your minds.”

Ming Zhuo smiled wryly. How were they supposed to stay calm? However, almost as soon as that thought appeared, his emotions inexplicably calmed.

Yu also calmed down, and he turned to stare at Lu Yin in disbelief.

He made a shushing gesture to the two men. “Find the nearest flower. I’ll examine it with karma.”

Quickly suppressing their shock, the two led Lu Yin to the largest flower that they had seen so far.

A single sentence had managed to calm both men’s minds; just what kind of incredible power was that? That should be beyond even the power of karma.

At that moment, both men gained a new understanding of Lu Yin’s level. Just how strong was he? Was it possible that he was actually comparable to an Immortal?

The two men guided Lu Yin along, weaving around obstacles and occasionally pausing or avoiding unseen threats. Finally, they stopped when they reached six glowing planets. “There’s a flower there that’s just as large as the one blocking the spatial passage. It’s located right at the center of these planets.”

Lu Yin nodded. A spiral coiled around his fingertips, and he then casually released a strand of karma.

He wanted to see what the flowers actually were.

When the karma pierced the flower, what Lu Yin saw was an Allsense.

He was surprised. How is that possible? Are the flowers also Allsenses? But they’re clearly two different species.

“What’s wrong?”

Lu Yin shared what he had seen, astonishing Ming Zhuo and Yu. “Aren’t the flowers and the Allsenses two completely separate creatures? Could the Allsenses have planted these flowers?”

“That's possible,” Lu Yin admitted. Karma could reveal something’s past and origin, but seeing an Allsense after targeting the flower did not necessarily prove that the flowers were Allsenses. It was possible that the creatures had planted the flower. Even if the idea seemed a bit of a stretch, it was still easier than accepting the alternative.

“Keep going.”

Lu Yin had Ming Zhuo and Yu continue searching for large flowers while he kept exploring the flowers’ origins and histories with karma.

He searched again and again, constantly peering through the history of the flowers. The three men had already moved far away from the spatial passage.

They did not even notice that months had passed. One day, Ming Zhuo and Yu shouted. They had spotted an enormous flower that was twice as big as the one that had blocked the spatial passage. They quickly led Lu Yin over.

As before, he struck the flower with karma, but this time, he saw something different.

There was the sky. It was somehow conical, and while it was clearly visible, it was also somehow blurred. The cone stabbed into the flower, and it seemed to extract something.

Lu Yin tried his best to focus on the image, but it only lasted for a moment before vanishing.

He repeatedly released more karma, but he only ever saw either an Allsense or the same vision.

How could the sky become a cone? He was suddenly reminded of the seven karmic funnels in the Spirit Nidus, due to the visual similarity. He could not help but ask Ming Zhuo, “Senior, is this really an unknown megaverse?”

Ming Zhuo nodded. “Of course. Why?”

Lu Yin’s expression grew heavy. “It’s nothing. I was just asking.”

He then resumed releasing karma, hoping to find something new.

They stayed at that massive flower for an entire month, but besides the two visions that he had already seen, nothing else appeared.

They had already visited all the planets in the universe, but aside from their glow, there was nothing special about them.

To Lu Yin, stars and planets were sprinkled about the entire universe, and it looked similar to a night sky. However, in Ming Zhuo and Yu’s eyes, the universe resembled a garden, where the flowers were decorated with stars.

Soon, a year had passed. They found a new spatial passage, and the three men did not hesitate to pass through it and enter another parallel universe. There, they were met with the same sight as before: glowing planets and flowers that filled the entire universe.

“Quick, dodge!” Ming Zhuo and Yu pulled Lu Yin back.

Right where they had just been standing, flower petals had folded shut, at least to their eyes.

Lu Yin frowned. Not being able to see the flowers was causing him problems. Still, he had already spent a year among them, which meant, one year later, he would be able to see them for himself.

“This universe is also filled with flowers. Let’s keep searching and see if there’s another tunnel.”

They stopped searching for flowers, as there was clearly no point in doing so. When Lu Yin tried to use karma to search for the Mother Tree, all he ever managed to see was the Mother Tree being dragged through a spatial tunnel, nothing more.

It did not take long to find another passage. Clearly, searching for only spatial passages was much faster.

They followed the passage to a new parallel universe. This one was yet again filled with glowing planets and flowers, so they continued their search.

After a while, Lu Yin took out his wireless jincan and reached out to the Fifth Night Pillar. “The Allsenses have developed a new channel of attack: consciousness.”

The people on the Fifth Night Pillar received the message, as did Ming Zhuo and Yu.

Both men felt a sinking dread. Had the creatures really evolved that quickly?

“This is because of me. I’ve been continuously releasing my consciousness, and while I avoided the flowers, I didn’t avoid the Allsenses since there are simply too many of them.”

Ming Zhuo said, “If they can evolve this quickly, then if they ever reach the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, it won’t take long for humans to become nothing but attack channels.”

It reminded him of Devourer, a metal that was able to grow without limits. Theoretically, given enough time, it could fill an entire universe. It had once been a catastrophe for the Origin Universe’s Fourth Mainland. Had it not been dealt with in time, the entire Origin Universe would have been doomed.

But in truth, Devourer was unable to continuously grow unless it encountered a universe without sapient life.

Was it possible that the Allsenses had thrived simply because their megaverse lacked powerful intelligent creatures?

There had once been intelligent life in the Allsense Megaverse, but they had not been strong enough to deal with the Allsenses.

Time flowed on. The megaverse was vast. While it was easy for powerhouses like Lu Yin and the other two to move from one parallel universe to another, searching every corner of a universe was not, especially after consciousness itself became a channel for the Allsenses’ attacks. That alone had made their efforts far more restrictive.

Another year passed.

One day, Lu Yin saw the flowers. There were flowers filling the entire universe. They were beautiful, dangerously so.

“You don’t need to point anymore, as I can see them now,” Lu Yin announced.

Ming Zhuo said, “As we thought. Two years in a flower-filled universe allows you to see them.”

Lu Yin’s expression turned grave. The fact that he was able to see the flowers after two years meant that the flowers had affected him. The fact that they had managed to influence him at all meant that something terrifying had to be behind them.

Over the course of two years, the three men had searched through dozens of parallel universes, each of which had been filled with flowers, aside from the megaverse’s primary universe. A certain suspicion had gradually developed, which chilled them to the bone.

The creatures of the Allsense Megaverse were hiding. They had first hidden the flowers so that nothing that barged into the primary universe would see them. They had also hidden the Mother Tree, just like the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, to prevent the tree from being seen by outsiders.

The Allsense Megaverse was hiding, which indicated self-awareness.

This implied the presence of extraordinarily intelligent creatures, ones with a clear understanding of the omniverse.

That could not be an ordinary creature.

“Most of the megaverses that our Nine Odysseys Megaverse has invaded lacked a clear understanding of the cosmos. Even the Skyveil Megaverse wasn’t cognizant of this, and yet this Allsense Megaverse knows the importance of hiding.” Ming Zhuo’s expression turned grim. “We’ve underestimated this place.”

Yu said, “Have you considered that it might be possible that these flowers and the Allsenses don’t actually belong to this megaverse?”

Lu Yin arched a brow. “Are you suggesting that the original inhabitants of the Allsense Megaverse were exterminated?”

“It’s possible,” Yu replied.

Ming Zhuo agreed. “The native creatures of this Allsense Megaverse may have originally been similar to the creatures of the Orchid Megaverse or the Skyveil Megaverse, lacking a true understanding of the cosmos. But then, who destroyed them? Their attacker has a very clear understanding of the Aevum Inch, which is why they wiped out the native species, hid the Mother Tree, hid themselves, and left only the Allsenses behind as decoys.”

“It’s also possible that the Allsenses weren’t deliberately left behind. They might’ve simply escaped on their own.”

“Our current problem is that we can’t find what’s behind the Allsenses and the flowers.”

Lu Yin's eyes turned sharp. “Then we kill. Kill them all until it exposes itself.”

Ming Zhuo and Yu agreed. They had searched for two years and had no idea how many more spatial passages there might be. The Allsenses were endless, and the flowers were also scattered across every corner of each universe. All of this meant that the lifeforms had existed for far too long. 10,000 or even 20,000 years might not be enough to find the hidden truth. It would be quicker to scare whatever was hiding into exposing themselves.

With a casual wave of Lu Yin’s hand, the universe was split in two. Ming Zhuo and Yu, both of whom had been just about to attack, froze in astonishment. The destructive force that Lu Yin had just released was utterly terrifying.
