Chapter 4456: Conversation

Chapter 4456: Conversation

That being of light had left the three people feeling helpless even when they had joined forces, but it was so powerless before Lu Yin that it could not even strike back.

Lu Yin grabbed a mote of light from within the glow and vanished, teleporting away.

Lu Yuan appeared where Lu Yin had just been standing. "Come. I will take you back."

From a distance, the beings of the Divine Realm looked like masses of light, with an array of points and intersecting lines between them, but in truth, their essence was a single mote of light. Every being of the Divine Realm was just one mote of light, extremely tiny, to the point where not even a Progenitor could see it clearly.

When Lu Yin had first learned about the Divine Realm from Obscura, even he had not been able to imagine how such a tiny mote of light could grow into a fishing civilization.

Ba Se had given this analysis: all life within the Aevum Inch, regardless of size or form, had its own path of development because every form of life exists within the vast law of the Aevum Inch. Whether it was humanity, Plume Immortals, or these motes of light, as long as they cultivated within the Aevum Inch, they had a chance to rise up to become a fishing civilization. It had nothing to do with the strength or weakness of their innate forms.

It could even be said that it had been just as difficult for the Divine Realm to develop into a fishing civilization as it had been for humanity.

The mote of light that Lu Yin had seized was the essence of that pseudo-Immortal. It kept trying to break free from his grasp, even using its cosmic law for that purpose, but all of its efforts were completely useless. Against Lu Yin, let alone a pseudo-Immortal, but even a true Immortal would be powerless, unless they were either a two-law Immortal or someone who had directly broken through to become a peak one-law Immortal.

"There’s no need to struggle." Lu Yin returned to the mountain behind the Heavens Sect and opened his hand. The mote of light shot out, trying to escape, only to be slapped back down by one of Lu Yin’s palms. The impact caused the light to flicker in and out, as if it had suffered severe damage.

"Stop! Stop hitting me, respected powerhouse! Please stop." The mote of light let out a sound. It was begging for mercy.

Long Xi came over and poured tea for Lu Yin while curiously studying the mote of light.

Lu Yin calmly asked, "Which of the Divine Realm’s gods are you?"

Long Xi was astonished. The Divine Realm? That’s incredibly arrogant.

Looking across the Aevum Inch, who would dare to call themselves a god? Not even Obscura or the Plume Immortals dared to do that.

The mote trembled. "Bestow... Bestowal God."

"I do admire your species. You are only a pseudo-Immortal, and yet you dare to call yourself a god," Lu Yin commented.

"How do you know about us?"

"Is that difficult? I might understand your kind better than you do."

"Who exactly are you?"

Lu Yin casually slapped it again, making the light grow even dimmer. He then took out Champions' Stage Purgatory and threw it inside. He would increase his karma first and ask questions later.

Although it was only a pseudo-Immortal, it had still lived for many years. However much karma he could gain, he would take.

He watched the Champions' Stage Purgatory float in the air, slowly revolving. Long Xi blinked, "Isn’t this... a bit like bullying?"

Lu Yin took a sip of his tea. "The strongest beings from its civilization are capable of completely destroying our Human Trio."

Long Xi blinked again. "Looks can be deceiving."

After some time, the mote of light came back out. Lu Yin could not tell what effect his Champions' Stage Purgatory had had on it; it was just a mote of light. Such a being shared nothing in common with humans, and it was difficult for him to glean anything from it.

At most, Lu Yin could try to read its emotions through the way it spoke, but there did not seem to be any unusual emotional fluctuations.

Lu Yin asked quite a few questions, and the mote of light answered all of them honestly.

Very quickly, Lu Yin learned that the megaverse that lay 200 years away from the Trio was controlled by a god called Nightflow God. Apparently, this Bestowal God had been sent in the direction of the Trio because of Nightflow God.

Nightflow God? Lu Yin knew of it. It was one of the Divine Realm’s few true Immortals and thus enjoyed a much higher status than a mere pseudo-Immortal did.

"What did it send you here to do?" Lu Yin asked.

Bestowal God replied, "I do not know."

"You don’t know?" Lu Yin was doubtful.

Bestowal God hurriedly continued, "I really do not know. I was only told to come in this direction and not to change course. I was to travel for 300 years and then return for 300 years."

Lu Yin frowned. 300 years of travel meant it would have inevitably passed by the Trio. A single megaverse was tiny in the scope of the Aevum Inch. If an Immortal traveled along without examining their surroundings, they might not notice a single megaverse, but the Trio was large. With the three megaverses joined together, even if an Immortal did not pass straight through them, the Trio would still be visible to all who traveled in this direction.

"You weren’t sent because of the Seven-Treasure Anuras?"

"We know of the Seven-Treasure Anuras, but I did not come because of them."

Lu Yin released karma, piercing through the mote of light. Asking questions was one thing, but in the end, he still needed to verify everything with karma.

He examined the pseudo-Immortal’s past for more than half a month, yet he still could not learn the truth. After all, it belonged to an alien civilization. While exchanges between motes of light appeared within the past revealed by karma, Lu Yin could not make any sense of them.

"Why did your civilization not develop in this direction before?" Lu Yin asked.

Bestowal God answered, "Because of Obscura."

Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. As expected, it was indeed connected to Obscura.

"And also because of the Seven-Treasure Anuras," Bestowal God continued, "Long ago, we encountered the Seven-Treasure Anuras. They were not easy to provoke, so we gave up on this direction."

Lu Yin understood. "Then how much do you know about Obscura?"

Bestowal God replied, "I do not have any understanding of them beyond the fact that they are our civilization's greatest mortal enemy. However, Lord Nightflow God certainly understands them. It is widely said within our civilization that Lord Nightflow God has ties to Obscura."

Lu Yin's gaze instantly sharpened. "Nightflow God has ties to Obscura?"

"That is what everyone says, though no one can prove it."

Lu Yin fell into thought. If this was true, he could vaguely guess why Bestowal God had been sent in this direction: because of Obscura.

This was certainly Obscura's method, using one civilization to destroy another. Yet, Obscura was also supposed to protect the human civilization for 2,000 years. During this period, there was only one entity that could do something like this: the Keeper of Balance.

The answer was already apparent: the member of Obscura using the Divine Realm was the Keeper of Balance.

In the past, the Keeper of Balance had severed the Meteor Realm with a single sword strike, severely wounding Awe Gate. That was already a violation of Obscura’s rules, and yet no one had been able to gather any sort of proof. This time, that same individual was using the Divine Realm to target his human civilization. The goal was most likely to weaken humanity’s strength.

After all, while the Trio had not made contact with the Longevity Civilization, the arrival of Chen Jian, Ancient God's breakthrough, the addition of the Immortal stone monster, Ba Rong, and the others were all gradually increasing the strength of the Trio.

If Lu Yin was not mistaken, the Keeper of Balance merely wanted to use the Divine Realm to put some pressure on his human civilization. The intention was not to actually destroy them, as Obscura's protection period was still in effect. What the Keeper of Balance was doing was no different from when they had severed the Meteor Realm.

Lu Yin took a deep breath. While all of this was just speculation, he was almost certain that he was correct.

He felt grateful that he had not used his mission rewards to receive clues regarding other powerful human civilizations. If he had, the Divine Realm would have arrived to destroy the Human Trio long ago, rather than waiting until now.

The Keeper of Balance's methods could be very slow, but they could also be extremely ruthless.

Was Bestowal God's arrival the Keeper of Balance's warning? They might have guessed that Lu Yin would be able to figure that out and were openly keeping him in check.

If Lu Yin strengthened the Trio any further, what awaited him would not be Bestowal God alone, but rather the entire Divine Realm.

Bestowal God had no idea what Lu Yin was thinking. It truly could not understand how such a powerful civilization had appeared in this region, especially one that was not the Seven-Treasure Anuras.

Leaving aside those experts with Aberrant-like strength, this being before it was something that Bestowal God simply could not see through. He was exceptionally powerful.

Why had Lord Nightflow God sent it here? Was it just because of this civilization?

Lu Yin sat there in thought without moving. He sat like that for three days.

During that time, not even Long Xi came by. Lu Yin could not be disturbed at a moment like this.

After three days, Lu Yin raised his head and looked at his Karmic Dao. He lifted a hand, and karma descended, connecting heaven and earth. Ultimately, it condensed into a Dao Sword that flew at Bestowal God. The mote of light was unable to see karma at all, yet it instinctively tried to dodge.

It could not. The Dao Sword entered its body.

Lu Yin grabbed Bestowal God and vanished, teleporting away. He teleported repeatedly, quickly arriving back at the place where the pseudo-Immortal had fought against Progenitor Chen and the others. "Go back."

Bestowal God grew uneasy. "Are you really letting me return?"

Lu Yin smiled. "Would you prefer to stay?"

Bestowal God instantly turned and fled, escaping back in the direction from which it had come.

Lu Yin watched it leave. This was a conversation, one between him and the Keeper of Balance. He had received the Keeper of Balance's warning. Now, by letting Bestowal God go, Lu Yin was telling the Keeper of Balance that matters would not escalate and that he hoped the Keeper of Balance would not truly send the Divine Realm over.

If Bestowal God died by Lu Yin’s hand, the Divine Realm would undoubtedly learn of it.

At first, Lu Yin had believed that, if Joy City went to war with the Divine Realm, it would help relieve pressure on his human civilization. Even if he killed Bestowal God, the Divine Realm would not have any time to care about the matter.

Only now did Lu Yin understand; as long as the Keeper of Balance wished it, even if Joy City and the Divine Realm were at war, they could still bring powerful enemies down upon the Trio.

If it was not the Divine Realm, then it would be something else.

This was the same Keeper of Balance who had nearly killed Gao Tian. His human civilization was still far too weak in comparison.

At present, the situation regarding the Divine Realm could be divided into two parts. One part was Lu Yin's own plan of luring the Death Megaverse’s Joy City to go to war with the Divine Realm in order to reduce the pressure on human civilization. The second part was the Keeper of Balance's scheme, which was to use Bestowal God to deliver a warning to Lu Yin.

Lu Yin was participating in both of these fronts, while the Keeper of Balance was not. The Keeper of Balance had their own way of issuing warnings while Lu Yin had his own plans unfolding in the shadows.

It was not yet time to alert the enemy.

He slowly exhaled. If not for the legacy of the Nine Ramparts, the Trio would not nearly be so constrained. Lu Yin would have been able to develop without restraint and would have been able to use his preferred methods to balance every side against each other until their human civilization reached its peak. It would have been the same as when he had once fought against Aeternus in the Tianyuan.

Unfortunately, the Nine Ramparts had caused humanity to become far too conspicuous, and everything that Lu Yin did was restricted because of that past.

He could only seek a different path. No matter how powerful the Keeper of Balance might be, they were not truly a god. Humanity would always be able to find a way forward.

However, what exactly was the Keeper of Balance staying in the Tianyuan Megaverse for? Back in the Nine Heavens Megaverse, Qi Xu had been killed, and yet the matter had not been reported to Obscura. Strange.

After releasing Bestowal God, Lu Yin returned to the Tianyuan and continued cultivating the Star Fist with Progenitor Chen in the Mirari Realm. Progenitor Chen's Star Fist followed a narrow path, while Lu Yin's was unimaginably vast.

When Progenitor Chen learned that Lu Yin had treated megaverses as stars, even he was shaken. He had not imagined that Lu Yin's perspective could be so broad.

"I only thought of it after seeing Ancestor Shan’s Anura’s Star-Plucking Hands. The one to first treat megaverses as stars was not me, but rather Ancestor Shan," Lu Yin explained.

Progenitor Chen sighed emotionally. "This is what perspective means. A lifetime of cultivation by one person may still be less important than a single glance."

"This is the importance of a civilization's inheritance," Lu Yin retorted. With that, the two continued practicing the Star Fist within the Mirari Realm.
