Chapter 4607: War Begins

Chapter 4607: War Begins

By using the overwhelming power of the tri-colored divine energy transformation, as well as the advantage of having already adapted to the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array, Lu Yin had managed to remove Withered Requiem's Stillness from the equation. He was also able to avoid the Abyssal’s most powerful moves, which led to an absolute advantage.

No one could have imagined that such a situation would occur.

Withered Requiem’s gaze was locked onto Lu Yin, who was chasing the skeleton, determined to kill it.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

The beat of the heart, the pulse of the blood vessels, the rhythm of breathing. Those were not just sounds, but also a rhythm.

Lu Yin's expression grew cold. Tri-colored divine energy surged forth, shooting straight upwards. It then formed a long arc that blasted towards Withered Requiem. However, his movements suddenly stuttered. Lu Yin's vision blurred. He was under the effect of Withered Requiem's cosmic law.

Rhythm was one of the laws that the Abyssal resonated with.

Fortunately, Lu Yin had already mentally prepared himself for this. He simply had to directly withstand this assault.

His tri-colored divine energy transformation already granted him the strength to fight against two-law Immortals. As long as he used tri-colored divine energy to resist it, Withered Requiem's cosmic law would not be able to cause fatal damage.

Bang.

Another deafening sound rang out. Withered Requiem's head was knocked askew. It was horrified, but horror was useless. Even its cosmic law was unable to stop this human.

Just how had he done it? He must have known of Withered Requiem’s cosmic law in advance, as there was no other way for him to have withstood it so decisively. It was necessary to adapt to Rhythm first, which proved that this human must have known about it in advance.

Divine energy, a human, a trap at the Grand Clarity ruins, Cosmic Erasure has been seen through... Wait. Withered Requiem suddenly stopped running. "Yo, yo, you are Chen!"

Lu Yin raised both arms. The long arc of divine energy fell from above, viciously striking Withered Requiem and nearly smashing the skeleton apart.

You figured it out? That was not particularly surprising. After all, Lu Yin’s skeleton clone had been the one to report the location of the Grand Clarity ruins. In other words, Chen had revealed this trap.

It also made sense for Chen to know Cosmic Erasure, given that he followed Thousand Machinations. It was even more reasonable for him to know about Withered Requiem's abilities. On top of that, he was a human skeleton.

As long as one point was understood, everything else would quickly fall into place.

Unfortunately, Withered Requiem was destined to never be able to share what it had discovered.

With its Stillness blocked, an Abyssal was nothing more than another Immortal.

This was also why the Death Megaverse wanted to use the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array against Obscura. The Death Megaverse had great confidence in the abilities of the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array, and Lu Yin was even more confident.

His tri-colored divine energy, his physical strength, and his Lifeforce were not being consumed in the least.

He found himself understanding why both Obscura and the Death Megaverse valued Grand Clarity so highly more and more by the moment. That civilization’s sourcebox arrays were treasures that offered far too many possibilities.

The treasure was not merely the sourcebox arrays, but also the sourceboxes themselves. Grand Clarity’s goal was to excavate the secrets of the Aevum Inch. All civilizations were born within the Aevum Inch, and they all longed to uncover its secrets.

Lu Yin stared at Withered Requiem for a moment before continuing his pursuit.

Withered Requiem was trying to escape. However, it was unable to teleport, and it was also inside the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array, which made it utterly impossible to leave quickly.

"Yo, yo, All Things Have a Beginning and an End!" Withered Requiem's voice rang out.

Lu Yin's heart sank. This was the skeleton’s second cosmic law. He had not known what this law was. He had once asked Thousand Machinations about it, but the bear had not said anything.

All cultivators had their own secrets. When Withered Requiem fought, it rarely used its second cosmic law. Lu Yin had stayed in Joy City for a long time, yet he had never been able to learn anything about the Abyssal’s second law, and there had been no way for him to find out.

Even against someone like Zhou, just using Cosmic Erasure once was enough to settle things.

The only recent battlefield where Withered Requiem may have used this law was when it had fought against the Divine Realm, but Lu Yin had not been able to observe that battle.

Roaring music filled his ears, and the world was overtaken by dazzling colors. The light shifted with the beat of the music. Lu Yin looked up. The world had changed. This was not just a cosmic law, but also an unseen world.

"Yo, yo, follow the beat! Fight on, traitor of Death, Chen! Chen, are you a skeleton or a human? Traitor of Death..."

Lu Yin frowned. He wanted to attack but found that he could not. His body seemed ready to sway with the music. If not for his divine energy protecting him, he would have undoubtedly been controlled by the music.

The tri-colored divine energy continuously resisted the swaying force of the music and light of the Immortal’s world. It was a stage, a stage that belonged to Withered Requiem. On this stage, the Abyssal was the true master. As long as the music did not stop on the stage, Lu Yin would not be able to act freely.

If he had faced this attack in the past, Lu Yin would have loathed the deafening music, but now, he understood it. This was an expression of Withered Requiem's purest self, stripped of all lies, stripped of all worries, stripped of everything that had appeared throughout their entire existence. This was a preservation of their original self. This was their music.

Lu Yin closed his eyes and quietly listened. He had also been searching for his original self for a long time.

Time continued to pass, and eventually, more than a decade went by as the two remained on the stage.

Withered Requiem's music changed, and Lu Yin could sense it. After more than ten years, even their unseen world was weakening.

Not everyone could be like Greater Sancte Green Lotus. To counter Hong Xia's Absolute of No Absolutes, Green Lotus had continuously released his Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. That endless effort was why he was able to sustain his world for so long.

For most Immortals, even the Death Megaverse’s Abyssals, it was impossible for them to maintain their unique worlds endlessly. There was no need to do so; it wasted energy, and it also made it easy for enemies to see through them.

The effect of this stage was very simple: it used music to control enemies who stood on it. Lu Yin could resist with divine energy, but as time continued to pass, his divine energy would eventually be consumed. There would eventually be a moment when the resisting power was exhausted, and that moment would be the stage's final effect.

However, they just so happened to be inside the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array. Lu Yin had already used Locked Earth, so his divine energy, Lifeforce, and even physical strength could not be consumed in the slightest. It could be said that this sourcebox array was the best counter to Withered Requiem’s stage.

And Lu Yin just so happened to be fighting the Abyssal in this perfect location. He could see it clearly, and Withered Requiem could see it just as clearly.

However, the skeleton had no solution. There was no way to avoid this.

The only option available was to use this stage to endure until other powerhouses from the Death Megaverse arrived. Then, they could join forces to defeat Lu Yin.

Lu Yin slowly opened his eyes. He looked at the dazzling stage and at Withered Requiem, who stood in the spotlight. He then raised a hand and snapped his fingers.

Snap.

The music stopped.

The stage disappeared.

Withered Requiem's movements froze. The microphone in its hand was simply crushed.

Lu Yin stared at the Abyssal. "You haven’t forgotten that you already lost to me once in music, have you?"

By using Endless Recall to return to his mind to his very first thought, Lu Yin's skeleton clone had managed to defeat Withered Requiem in a battle of music.

At this moment, Lu Yin was using his divine energy clone, which was also able to use Endless Recall. He had stood on this stage all this time and had listened intensely precisely to find an instant where the music could be broken.

One instant was enough.

With the music stopped, the stage disappeared. Withered Requiem had completely lost all means to fight back.

Lu Yin took one step forward, arriving directly before Withered Requiem. His hand rose, and then fell again. A palm viciously slammed down upon Withered Requiem's head.

He watched as the Abyssal’s skeleton slowly collapsed.

Lu Yin sat cross-legged and summoned his true body. It arrived in an instant.

He took both Withered Requiem and his divine energy clone back to the Tianyuan with him. Once there, Lu Yin asked Ancestor Lu Yuan to return the divine energy clone back to the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array.

At this point, all he had to do was wait for the war to begin.

As for Withered Requiem, it still could not be allowed to die for the time being. First of all, his true body needed to use it to strengthen his Karmic Dao. Second, the Abyssal would serve as an explanation to Obscura for his true body.

When Lu Yin had promised Obscura that he would kill an Abyssal, his first thought had been to eliminate Withered Requiem. He simply had not expected things to go so smoothly. It could only be said that the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array was too powerful.

Taking advantage of the fact that his skeleton clone had joined both Obscura and the Death Megaverse, he had managed to set a trap at the Grand Clarity ruins and capture Withered Requiem. Everything had followed naturally from the existence of that clone.

Within the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array, Lu Yin waited quietly. He paid no attention to how much time passed.

One day, he opened his eyes. Two gates had appeared in outer space.

Obscura had arrived.

The Death Megaverse had not arrived yet. Obscura was first. He was very curious as to exactly how the Death Megaverse had managed to leak the location of the Grand Clarity ruins to Obscura. Was it possible that the Death Megaverse really did have spies within Obscura?

Also, when Lu Yin’s skeleton clone had returned to Thousand Machinations' Abyss, there had been a bit of time before Withered Requiem was sent over to adapt to the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array. Where had Thousand Machinations gone during that time?

Also, quite some time had passed since the moment that Lu Yin had gone to Vestigium and been given a gate. Had Obscura been making preparations during this period?

Obscura and the Death Megaverse had each made their own preparations, and neither would tell Lu Yin what those preparations were. He was not the protagonist of this war.

Two figures appeared from the gate: one was Hong Xia, and the other was Old Man Hehe.

Was this their assigned battlefield? Then where would the gate that he had been given connect to?

Both Hong Xia and Old Man Hehe arrived in outer space at the same time. Hong Xia glanced over at Old Man Hehe. "During the last war, you were knocked out of the River of Aeons’ main stream. Do not die in this battle."

Old Man Hehe had the appearance of a roly-poly toy. When they heard Hong Xia's comment, they chuckled. "Likewise."

"How long has it been since we met like this?" Hong Xia suddenly asked.

Old Man Hehe said, "I cannot remember, but it was back when the Nine Ramparts still existed."

A smile touched Hong Xia's face. "You and I are rather suited to each other."

"Hehe."

Looking ahead of them, Hong Xia's expression grew somber again. "As expected, the Grand Clarity ruins really are here. That is the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array."

Old Man Hehe heaved a heavy sigh. "Xiang Xue was killed because of the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array. Grand Clarity evacuated so quickly that they actually failed to take this array with them. Ba Se sent us straight here through gates. This is our battlefield."

While they were speaking, a black shadow abruptly appeared.

Hong Xia and Old Man Hehe looked over at it. It was Dark Prisonbone.

The skeleton bird had instantly appeared, only to disappear the very next instant. Two black figures were left behind, both shrouded in streams of black energy. One was Ji, and the other was Ruinfall.

Lu Yin watched from inside the Clear Sky Locked Earth Array.

This was simply too straightforward. How could a decisive battle between two such colossal forces be so straightforward? It was as if both sides had already stated their positions in advance and were simply facing off against each other. Even battles between mortal nations were not this straightforward, with everything laid out in the open.

It was even less likely that Wang Wen and Thousand Machinations would be so transparent.

For some reason, Lu Yin suddenly felt a flicker of unease. It was anxiety born of being unable to see the situation clearly. This battle seemed somewhat different from what he had imagined.

As his mind was racing, fighting broke out in outer space.

This was supposed to be one battlefield of the overall war, but the truth was that it was really just two duels: Hong Xia attacked Ji, and Old Man Hehe fought Ruinfall.

Lu Yin stared at the battles, paying particular attention to Old Man Hehe and Ruinfall. These two were formidable masters in the use of the power of time. After all, both were connected to the River of Aeons.

There was no need for Lu Yin to pay any attention at all to the battle between Hong Xia and Ji. One would never reveal too much and would always hold back some of his strength, while the other was even less likely to reveal everything. Both of them were concealing their full strength.

The darkness of the Aevum Inch was replaced with gray. It became the only color within the remnants of the destroyed megaverses.
