Death… And Me

Chapter 3751: Guide Instead?

Chapter 3751: Guide Instead?

Once their group finally left the bath, they were given clean clothes and even offered to have their horns polished. Everywhere they went, the devils often said, ’Praise the Light of the Provider.’ The usual tension that you would find in any Devil Clan, Organization, etc, was nowhere to be seen.

Roan noticed something else, too. ’The Dark Element after we got away from the abyss... it is different.’

Rean and Kentucky nodded. They noticed the same thing, but they didn’t comment on it for now.

They were brought to a living room in that mansion, and the lord of the region came to see them again. "You three look a lot better. I can even see your skin starting to recover slightly. Oh, where are my manners? I’m Teru, the lord of this land in the Underworld."

Rean talked for them. "I’m Rean. This here is my brother, Roan, and our friend, Kentucky. Thank you for the timely help. Gilau used the purification bead after he found us, helping us in the process. How can we possibly compensate for your grace?"

Teru waved his hand, seemingly not minding it very much. "There is no need. All lords of land in the Underworld have all the herbs and materials for these baths anyway. They are there for such emergencies, and they are provided by the Light of the Provider Branches. Praise the Light of the Provider."

"Praise the Light of the Provider," Rean, Roan, and Kentucky followed. They would be idiots if they hadn’t realized this is the norm.

Teru then changed the topic. "Still, the abyss there is not a region I would recommend anyone to enter, exactly because of its higher concentration of untreated Dark Element."

The point that caught the twins’ group’s attention was the word ’untreated.’ It seems like the Dark Element in the Underworld was messed with in other places. That was also what Roan noticed earlier.

"So," Teru continued, "what were you doing there? This is also my territory, so you should know that trespassing is not something a proper follower of the Light of the Provider would do."

Rean’s expression turned apologetic. "We are deeply sorry for causing sir so much trouble. We didn’t enter that place on purpose. We just got lost during our journey to the capital, and the untreated Dark Element made us a little too erratic." Rean kept talking a lot of nonsense. "It is truly thanks to Gilau’s appearance that we noticed the problem we were going through."

Roan took that chance to ask. "Sir Teru. How did you manage to find us there? Gilau seemed to know that we were in that abyss when he arrived."

Teru smiled. "The Groman Abyss area has a big concentration of untreated Dark Element. My territory is quite large, making it dangerous for those unfamiliar with the area. That said, I keep a few patrols going around that area with the proper protection, just in case someone wanders inside."

"As for how Gilau found you, it was the collapsing of that part of the abyss you had entered. We have that area well mapped, including its geological features. For that part to have collapsed, someone must have caused it. Fortunately, Gilau was fast enough to get there and find you."

Rean was quite surprised. Back on Earth, there were indeed devices that measured seismic activity and could pinpoint the origins. Yet, in the cultivation world, pretty much everything was made through the use of formations or circuitry formations. ’Well, the device Gilau used likely was still a Circuitry Formation Device.’

"I see..." Roan nodded. "As expected of the Lord of the Region, the Light has provided this place with the right expert for the job, someone who can truly keep his equals safe."

Teru felt quite happy to hear Roan’s praise. "Little Friend Roan is being too polite."

Still, Rean, Roan, and Kentucky felt quite weird how easily Teru simply accepted their explanation of everything. Shouldn’t he be more suspicious? Not that they will complain, of course.

Rean jumped straight into the next topic. He was telling lie after lie, and at some point, he would be caught, so it was better to leave soon. When he said they were going to the capital, that was slightly of a gamble, as this place in the Underworld might not even have a capital to start with. Fortunately, there seemed to be one since Teru didn’t point that out. "Sir Teru, we still need to make our way to the capital. Would it be possible for us to depart soon? Of course, if there is anything we can do to make up for the lifesaving grace you gave us, we will do it."

Teru waved his hand, uninterested. "I have no need for compensation. If I did ask such a thing, I would be going against the teachings of the Light. One day, if I am in need of help, I just hope you will do the same for me."

"Absolutely! Praise the Light of the Provider!"

"Praise the Light of the Provider!"

Yet, at that moment, Rean seemed conflicted with something, and Teru noticed. "What is it, friend? Speak your mind."

Rean sighed, ’feeling’ terrible. "Sir Teru, we don’t know this region very well. Do you think you could provide us with access-"

However, Kentucky cut in before Rean could finish his words, "Access to a guide that can bring us to the Capital."

Rean got puzzled, and so did Roan. ’What was that?’

Kentucky explained through their connection. ’Something has been bothering me. We kept our Divine Senses spread all the time, just in case. Other than these Bambi Devils, everything seemed fine. Yet, have you noticed we haven’t found a single Devil using a Communication Device? Do they even know about the Werdlem Network?’

Rean and Roan were taken aback. Could this place be similar to the Divine Snow World from the F956 Universe? No, Rean and Roan focused their Divine Senses, and different from the beings of the Divine Snow World, the Devils here didn’t have their CDs attached to their brain like the beings from the Divine Snow World had. There were a few terminals around the mansion, but they barely saw any of the Devils touching them. Since the twins’ group didn’t want to raise suspicion, they obviously haven’t tried to touch the terminals either.

’Well noticed, Kentucky,’ Roan gave a rare compliment to the bird.

Teru naturally didn’t hear anything. "A guide to the Capital? That’s easy. My daughter was supposed to go to the capital tomorrow, but I guess this just fits our purposes. I’ll have her bring you there."

Rean had nothing against it. "We will be eternally grateful."
