Death… And Me

Chapter 3750: Are They Truly Devils?

Chapter 3750: Are They Truly Devils?

The group of Devils arrived a few minutes later, five of them. They landed in front of the twins’ group, but there didn’t seem to be any will to fight coming from them. "Friends, sorry for telling you this, but you are trespassing on Lord Teru’s territory. If you ended up here by mistake, we will be happy to guide you outside."

Friends? Sorry? Happy? Guide? Rean and the others looked at those Devils, finding it hard to believe that they would be acting with such politeness.

"Wait!" It was then that one of them stepped forward. "Gilau, look at them. They are miserably failing to keep their minds clear from the effects of Dark Element. If we let them go like this, they will terrify the others around."

Rean, Roan, and Kentucky had to admit that they did look terrifying... because that’s what you would expect from Devils. Still, it didn’t seem like those five devils would simply let them go, so the twins’ group prepared to act.

Gilau nodded... but he didn’t attack as the twins’ group expected. "You are right, Pokei. Friends, there is no need to worry. By the Light of the Provider, we shall take action to help you clean your bodies. Come with us. We will prepare a Devilish Suppression Bath for you. Praise the Light of the Provider!"

The other Devils nodded in agreement. "Praise the Light of the Provider!"

That totally killed the Rean, Roan, and Kentucky’s momentum. Where is the fight? Where is the mistrust? Even worse, Roan truly couldn’t detect any lies from those Devils.

"Errr..." Rean decided to go with the flow. "S-Sure! Friends, you truly arrived at the right moment. We ended up in this abyss by mistake and were assaulted by too much Dark Element. Look at us! We look horrible! We shall gladly accept the bath we have been craving for so long. Praise the Light of the Provider!"

"Praise the Light of the Provider!"

Roan and Kentucky glanced at Rean, who talked through their connection. ’It is better we don’t make any suspicious movements. They found us here, and we don’t even know how, so there is a good chance we are being observed. We’d better go with them and try to find more about this place.’

Roan pondered a bit and nodded. ’Makes sense.’

’Could they be luring us into a trap?’ Kentucky asked.

Yet, Rean and Roan shook their heads. ’At least it doesn’t feel like it.’

Then, Gilau took a white bead from his Pocket Dimensional Realm, throwing it to the twins and Kentucky. When it got closer, it burst with a white light, which immediately suppressed the Dark Element in the surroundings and also inside the twins’ group bodies. It wasn’t Light Element, though, but something else.

Roan narrowed his eyes, but he didn’t act. Rean told him and Kentucky not to do so. ’It has no restraining capabilities. It truly only suppresses the Dark Element... no, it isn’t suppressing our Dark Element, but the effects of Dark Element in one’s mind. We can leave this bead’s area at any time. Besides, if we attack it, then it might show that we don’t know anything about this place, which would be bad in those guys’ eyes.’

"Friends," Gilau smiled at them. "You should already be feeling better now. Please, come with us and stay within the purification bead’s range."

"Thank you, friend. This truly has soothed our minds." Rean thanked and bowed to them.

Gilau and the Devils took flight, being followed by the twins’ group. Everyone there was in the Space-Time Realm, but no Spatial Gates were opened. The twins didn’t ask why.

Around two hours later, they noticed a huge mansion in the distance. Not many Devils could be seen, though. With their Divine Sense, they could tell the mansion only had a small number of residents, although they were all at the Transition Realm or above.

The twins quickly felt the presence of a Divinity Realm Expert’s Divine Sense, and it locked on them. Once they landed in front of the Mansion, a concerned Devil, looking just as clean and bright as the others, came running out. "Praise the Light of the Provider. Fortunately, Gilau found you in time before the Dark Element’s instincts took over. Quick, quick, I already prepared the bath."

The twins’ group found it even weirder. That was the Divinity Realm Devil they noticed, and the guy came out to receive them himself. Not only that, he seemed genuinely concerned about their situation. "Thank you, sir." Well, it was easy to guess that that guy must be Teru, the owner of this place.

A moment later, they were already at the so-called bath. Inside, pristine water with several types of herbs was prepared. Roan recognized a few of the herbs used, and there wasn’t anything poisonous in that mix from his analyzes with Divine Sense.

Finally, the twins’ group entered the bath, followed by the attentive gaze of Gilau, Teru, and a few lower-level Devils.

Immediately, the twins and Kentucky understood what that bath was about. ’It is trying to seal our minds, but not in a harmful way.’

Even the system failed to activate, as it only protected the twins’ group’s souls when danger was involved. That was definitely not the case now.

’It is not sealing our soul, but barring the effects of Dark Element that Devils suffer over a prolonged time,’ Rean concluded.

Yet, even though they weren’t blocking it, the Devils by the bath narrowed their eyes. It was as if the bath wasn’t working in their eyes.

Rean understood why. ’You two, activate my Body Transformation Technique and have your eyes slowly go back to normal. It should calm them.’

Kentucky and Roan nodded, and the trio went to work. As Rean mentioned, they managed to remove the reddish color from their eyes, a trait typically associated with Devils. Only then did they see Teru, Gilau, and the others sighing in relief.

"The bath was just in time," Teru spoke with a smile. "Don’t worry too much about your corrupted bodies. They will come back to normal in a few days. Anyway, stay in the bath for a few hours. We can talk more about your situation later."

And so, Teru left with Gilau, leaving just his workers behind to tend for Rean, Roan, and Kentucky.
