Death… And Me

Chapter 3989: Fair Enough

Chapter 3989: Fair Enough

Roan noticed Zonhime going out, stopping not too far from the Divinity Realm Experts from the opposite side. He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but she was likely trying to reach some kind of agreement with them.

Truth be told, Zonhime wasn’t at risk of dying unless something incredible happened. With her Divinity Realm Cultivation, even if she was alone, she could at least flee on her own if things went south. The problem would be the rest of the Qufis Alliance group, who didn’t have as high a cultivation as she did.

The enemies definitely knew that as well, so they likely would only try to keep Zonhime occupied while the others took care of the rest. They had the numbers advantage, and they had two Divinity Realm experts in their ranks. Zonhime was the only one, and Roan’s group still hasn’t seen where the second Divinity Realm from Quifis was.

A minute later, Zonhime returned inside the protection formation, quickly speaking to everyone inside. "Brace yourselves. They are coming. The formation can only hold them for so long. In any case, don’t try to flee. They have surrounded the area, and separating from the group is pretty much guaranteed death. Use the formation if you need to rest, and go out to fight if an opportunity appears."

Celis and Tanxan looked at Roan, who understood the meaning of her words. "She wants to put up a fierce resistance. She is hoping we will make things so difficult that eliminating our group would not be worth all the losses."

"Will that work?" Celis asked, not very concerned. Not only could they also flee if they wanted by using pure strength, but they could also use the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm for that.

Roan pondered a bit, looking at one of the Space-Time Realm experts from Qufis. He decided to ask him something through a Divine Sense message. ’I’m certain that we aren’t the entire group. Where is the other Divinity Realm guy you mentioned years ago? There should be a few other Space-Time Realm experts, too. The enemy would still hold the advantage, but their help would make things a lot easier.’

The man, called Fosxi, nodded slightly. ’They left after the last attack. They thought they would have a better chance on their own than staying with our group, since they wouldn’t have to help protect the youngsters. They don’t want to do anything other than cultivate.’

Roan narrowed his eye. No wonder the Qufis Alliance seemed so forceful when they demanded the twins’ group to come to their aid after so long. They lost quite a few of their stronger experts: specifically, a few Space-Time and a Divinity Realm. Anyone below those two cultivation realms wouldn’t have much hope of surviving in this place alone. The ones who stayed were the most loyal to Qufis or simply had some deeper reason that they couldn’t abandon their places.

’And who are those guys outside?’ Roan asked, not so sure about who the enemy was.

’The Plovel Tiffori, a multicontinental power led by the Lerkis Organization. Back where the Qufis Alliance exists, they are the closest other multicontinental power to our Qufis, and we have fought for several territories between the two powers on quite a few occasions. Strength and territory-wise, we are fairly equal.’

Roan found it strange. ’How come they have so many more experts here than you have? Aren’t you similar in strength?’

Fosxi bitterly smiled. ’Many of our Space-Time Realm experts were rookies who had never tried to go through the Storm Wall before. Still, we didn’t expect so many of them to fail after all the training we provided them. There was also the fact that we needed some extra slots for Elemental Space and Space-Bending Realm experts, so we exchanged a good amount of our own Space-Time Realm slots as a result.’

’I see...’ Roan had his answer. Basically, it was a bunch of deserters, a Storm Wall crossing failure rate much higher than expected, and the slots exchange. When all these three were put together, the Qufis Alliance was left relatively weak inside the Future Realm. You couldn’t really blame Qufis, as the chance of all three things happening at the same time was very unlikely.

Still, Roan couldn’t help but ask. ’In that case, isn’t it much simpler to send everyone inside Zonhime’s Pocket Dimensional Realm and have her flee? Why stay here with such a disadvantage?’

’Ha!’ Fosxi found that funny. ’And then what? Keep fleeing every single time someone appeared? Also, it is a cultivator’s nature to never enter someone else’s Pocket Dimensional Realm. After all, you will be at their complete mercy in there. Last but not least, if she truly did that, then the enemy would definitely pursue her with everything they had. Killing her would mean killing everyone else in her pocket-dimensional realm, after all.’

Sometimes Roan forgets that their group was quite different in this aspect, that none of them were ever afraid of occupying the same Dimensional Realm, not even their guests, like Tanxan and Foliana. Kentucky and Celis even had their own Pocket Dimensional Realms, but they always stayed in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm instead. ’I guess that’s the norm indeed...’

"Here they come!" Zonhime shouted, shooting out of the protection formation. She wasn’t fleeing. She simply knew that staying close to the formation would actually be worse, as the two Divinity Realm Experts from Plovel could simply break it through pure strength. If she went out and far, they would be forced to focus on her. Otherwise, she might turn on their own weaker experts.

The two Divinity Realm Experts immediately faced Zonhime, and the battle of powerful laws and elements started a few tens of kilometers away from the formation. Those in the Space-Time Realm and below did not get involved. Instead, they focused on the protection formation.

The Space-Time Realm expert from Qufis obviously wouldn’t just watch the formation being taken down. They, too, exited it, trying to force the enemy’s Space-Time Realm experts to focus on them. The problem was that even with Roan, Celis, and Tanxan’s addition, the enemy had almost three times the number of experts at that level. Some of them ignored the Qufis guys, focusing on the formation.

Celis and Tanxan looked at Roan, who looked annoyed. ’I guess we can only play our role. Remember, don’t use your normal abilities, as it could reveal our other identities in the future.’

Tanxan felt bitter. ’I did get quite stronger under your training, but I’m not a fighter. At most, I can fight someone one or two stages higher than me, and I need to take it seriously. I will only be able to hold one or two of them for some time.’

’It’s fine,’ Roan didn’t mind. Tanxan’s main addition to their group was always his expertise in formations, not the rest of his abilities. ’Celis and I can take the rest down while using some side skills. Just don’t kill yourself.’ And so, they took action.
