Death… And Me

Chapter 4030: Another One Gone!

Chapter 4030: Another One Gone!

"So, what do you think?" Several countries away, back on the surface, Rean talked to a fairly good puppet he had made. He came here with his Spatial Gate so the puppet wouldn’t be able to tell where Rean came from.

"This is truly good, I have to admit," the puppet answered. "You must have made one like this before, right?"

The puppet obviously wasn’t just it. Inside, there was a soul, the Abyssal Beast’s soul! We can’t forget that the Abyssal Soul asked the twins to keep it asleep until the Future Realm was over. Now that they were in a relatively safe location, Rean decided to wake it up.

"Indeed," Rean answered Abby. "I’m pretty good with souls, and I had some free time back in the Future Realm, so I made this puppet based on the properties of your soul. Try to move around a bit. See if there are any compatibility problems."

Abby did precisely that, and after a few minutes, he returned to Rean. "Everything is working fine. This puppet seems slightly weak, though."

Rean shrugged. "Well, you couldn’t really expect me to build you a puppet that could rival Divinity Realm Experts, now could you? In any case, this puppet of yours should be able to fight Void Tempering Realm experts at least. I mean, that is already a great achievement since you don’t have access to the Cultivation Energies of the world. You will have to gather and give it Divine Stones to keep it powered."

Without a Werdlem Stone, there is no cultivation or use of cultivation energies of any kind. Of course, Rean could have made a much stronger puppet, but that would be too much effort for Abby’s sake.

"Don’t worry," Abby didn’t mind that much. "My power isn’t based on this puppet anyway. I’m much better with my soul abilities, so this puppet is good enough as it is. My only concern is that it might break too easily."

Abby wasn’t lying. He could definitely fight at the Divinity Realm Level with the power of his soul alone. That was especially so since his time asleep in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm helped him recover completely.

Rean then passed a Spatial Ring to Abby. "Inside, you will find the instructions about how to do maintenance on this puppet and a good amount of materials that should last you quite a few thousand years. There are even a few extra cores that you can use to move your soul inside in case the core you are using breaks for some reason."

Abby thought for a moment. "I can’t help but wonder. Would it be better if I took over someone’s body, or would this puppet be better?"

Rean didn’t have an answer. "I can’t say, honestly. The problem is that there are no more Abyssal Beasts around. Obviously, if you find a race similar to your Abyssal Beast Race, it might be better for you to take over that kind of body instead of using my puppet. My advice is to take over a body that hasn’t been born yet. That way, a soul wouldn’t have been born yet either, and you and that body would adapt to each other much more easily."

Abby thought about it. "A race similar to my own... that will be hard."

Rean agreed. "Indeed. At least I don’t know any race similar to yours. This ability of yours to create and use Abyssal Paths is not something I’ve ever heard before. In any case, this puppet should be more than enough for you for the time being, just so your soul doesn’t stay exposed all the time. That is not a very safe thing."

But then, Abby thought of something. "Wait... the Werdlem Empire uses those Great Void Shifter Formations, which basically make use of my race’s Abyssal Paths, right? Couldn’t the Empire have some of my race members still alive? That would allow them to create new Abyssal Paths if they needed."

"It’s a possibility," Rean said. "But if they do, I’m pretty sure they keep them very well hidden. I looked into your race before in the Werdlem Network. There was truly nothing there. It is obvious that the information regarding the Great Void Shifter Formations is kept secret. You will have to look for it on your own."

"The Werdlem Network..." Abby was a little lost. "How am I going to access it without a Divine Werdlem Stone of mine?"

Even though the Abyssal Beast slept in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm for so long, it still knew nothing regarding the system and Rean’s ability to create fake IDs. Rean had no intention of telling Abby either. Truth be told, they don’t even know each other that well. "Hum... you can try that old trick."

"What old trick?"

"Capture someone and have them use the Werdlem Network in your place. Or get a disciple you can trust and do the same thing. Basically, you need a proxy," Rean explained.

"I see..." That was indeed a good idea. In fact, Rean had met others before who used that method. "Yes, it is worth a try. Anyway, this is it. I’ve been imprisoned for way too long, so I guess I will enjoy my freedom for the following years first."

"Just be careful," Rean warned him. "If you are captured, don’t expect us to help you. You won’t even be able to find us anymore, as we use completely different IDs and appearances now. You are truly on your own."

"Hmph! I will not commit the same mistake again. I know what to do." Abby turned around, and with the power of his soul alone, Spatial Power accumulated before a Spatial Gate appeared.

Still, Rean decided to give him a little help. "Alright, alright... If you really, really, really need to contact us somehow, follow the instructions I left in the Spatial Ring. It talks about how to leave a coded message in certain parts of the Werdlem Network, which I will check once in a while. I can’t guarantee I will answer your attempts, though."

Abby looked at him for a moment. "I hope I won’t ever need it, but I will keep that in mind."

Finally, he entered the Spatial Gate and disappeared inside. Who knows when or if they would ever meet again...
